Chapter 4 - 4

"How could he fall here!"

Disco's red, glossy skin faded, revealing a massive wound on his upper body. Blood gushed out as he slowly collapsed, his breath extinguished.

Morgans's wife immediately covered Morgans's eyes, preventing him from seeing the gruesome scene.

The Disco Pirates' slave traders panicked and fled back to their pirate ship, wanting to set sail and escape.

How could Morgans let go of such an opportunity to strike while the iron was hot? He led his remaining few guards, pursuing and slaughtering them to vent his anger.

Brook was also overcoming a slight discomfort from killing. He once again revealed his icy, cerulean eyes, firmly jumping onto the Disco Pirates' ship, forcing himself to kill, and quickly adapting to this One Piece world.

Brook killed the slave-trading pirates one by one with his sword. In his previous life, he had edited videos about child trafficking, kidnapping, pyramid schemes, and Myanmar scams. He hated these things the most—even more than murder and other crimes.

...

"Mr. Brook, thank you for saving my family. I don't know how to repay you!"

Morgans, who had returned to his human form, was dressed in an elite suit, appearing courteous and refined. The life-saving grace, combined with being a fan of Brook, made him extremely excited.

"Please take me to a nearby island."

Brook was now alone and needed to recruit new crew members and build a new ship to continue sailing. Changing professions was probably out of the question—he still had a bounty of 33 million Berries on his head.

"Mr. Brook, please allow me to ask… is the Rumbar Pirates really..."

"Yes, they're all gone."

"I'm sorry, Mr. Brook, I..."

"It's alright. I've moved on. I will avenge them."

Looking at Brook's pale, cold face, Morgans thought sadly that Mr. Brook had become an avenger. His musical dream had probably been destroyed.

"Mr. Brook, we are currently heading to Sabaody Archipelago. After this incident, I feel the World Economic Journal has become a thorn in the World Government's side. I plan to move the company back. If possible, you should accompany us to Sabaody Archipelago."

"Alright. Thank you for the trouble."

Brook felt he could make friends with this great news reporter.

"On Disco's slave ship, there's a group of slaves. Does Lord Brook want to take a look? Maybe you can find crew members who meet your requirements."

If Brook wanted revenge on the Poison Smoke Pirates, he'd need to recruit new members. Morgans thought this could help his benefactor.

"Alright."

Brook didn't hold out much hope. He just wanted to find some potential crew members and take an elite route, but he didn't refuse Morgans.

Brook and Morgans walked into the cabin of Disco's slave ship. In the foul, murky air, dozens of male and female slaves—old and young, of varying heights—covered in whip marks, squatted emaciated in cages, their eyes filled with fear.

"The pirates on this ship have been annihilated by Lord Brook! You are free! Is there anyone among you with special abilities? You can become Lord Brook's crew member."

Upon hearing this, the slaves immediately burst with hope and vitality, and their eyes began to regain their sparkle.

"I… I am a monster. I can turn into a giant snail."

After a while, a thin, weak boy of seventeen or eighteen slowly raised his hand, cautiously observing Brook's cold expression.

"Turn into a snail? Is he an Animal-type Devil Fruit user with the Snail-Snail Fruit?"

Brook whispered, then went to cut off his hand and foot chains, releasing him to see what was going on.

"Come on, let's see your transformed state."

Brook was curious. Then he saw the thin boy slowly transform into a giant snail about one and a half meters tall.

"I only started transforming like this a year ago. The villagers treated me like a monster and drove me out. My Mama and Papa secretly gave me a small boat to help me escape to sea."

The giant snail said, and tears flowed from his long eyes.

"I can also talk to the small snail on the pirate leader's hand. Does that count as a special skill? Lord Brook, can you take me in? I'm homeless now."

"Talk to small snails? Isn't that a Den Den Mushi?"

Brook thought in shock. "Could it be it's not a Snail Fruit, but a Den Den Mushi Devil Fruit? Then wouldn't I have found a treasure!" The more he looked at the large snail in front of him, the more it resembled a Den Den Mushi. Brook immediately made a decision.

"Alright, from now on, you will be my first crew member. What's your name?"

"Thank you, Lord Brook, thank you! My name is Antonio, and I can cook!"

The giant snail said happily. If he didn't lack hands and feet in this form, he would probably be dancing with joy.

"Change back to human form, Antonio. From now on, you'll stay by my side!"

Brook was excited to have taken in his first crew member in the One Piece world.

"Congratulations, Lord Brook, on acquiring a good crew member and taking your first step again."

Morgans congratulated him from the side, genuinely happy for Brook, hoping he could truly emerge from the shadow of his crew's annihilation and no longer carry such a cold expression.

The remaining slaves were all ordinary people. Brook released them and asked them to help sail the ship and clean it. Morgans also took about ten to help man his ship, as most of his guards had been killed by the Disco Pirates.

Brook temporarily took control of the pirate ship, becoming its new owner. He took all of Disco's belongings for himself and also found four or five Den Den Mushi, which he had Antonio test for effectiveness.

It worked! Quite magical indeed.

"Captain Brook, these small snails say they all feel very familiar and comfortable with me, so they're willing to communicate with me via radio waves. I don't know what radio waves are, but they say they all have numbered names."

Antonio was young and inexperienced—a novice from a remote island—and didn't understand many things.

"These small snails are called Den Den Mushi. From now on, you'll talk to them and ask for information. For now, go eat. You must be very hungry!"

"Thank you, Captain!"

The starving Antonio devoured his food, and Brook was no less eager—he had also been hungry for a long time and could finally eat his fill.

After eating, Brook boarded Morgans's Seagull News Agency ship. The fire had been extinguished, and initial repairs allowed it to continue sailing.

"Mr. Brook, we can continue our journey to Sabaody Archipelago!"

With Brook accompanying him, Morgans suddenly felt a greater sense of security. He still needed to hurry back to the Sabaody base and find a chance to relocate—the Celestial Dragons' presence there made it far too dangerous.
