Chapter 146 - Chapter 146: Daredevil Matt Murdock

"Take cover!" Commander Bly ordered his men.

As the clone troopers scrambled for cover, the blind man tilted his head slightly, effortlessly dodging the blaster bolts fired at him. Instead of retreating, he rushed toward the nearest pirate and delivered a devastating series of strikes to the man's head, neck, and chest, finishing with a powerful uppercut to the chin that sent the pirate crashing to the ground, unconscious. Without missing a beat, he spun around to face the six remaining pirates charging toward him.

From a distance, precise blaster fire cut down another group of pirates. The clones turned toward the source and spotted a bearded man in distinctive armor wielding a sniper rifle.

"You almost shot me!" one of the clones called out.

"You're welcome!" the sniper shouted back with a grin.

"Not now, kids," came a voice from above.

The clones looked up, initially thinking they were seeing Spider-Man swinging toward them, but quickly realized this was someone else entirely. At first glance, they thought they were looking at a Devaronian, but as the figure landed, they saw it was actually a human wearing a helmet adorned with horns.

Dressed in black and red tactical gear, the newcomer asked, "Are you all right?"

"We're fine... but who are you?" Bly responded cautiously. These three strangers had helped them in the firefight, but their true intentions and origins remained unknown.

"We're, uh... I'm Chirrut, and this is Baze," the blind man said, gesturing toward the sniper. "We're Guardians of the Whills Temple." He then nodded toward the third figure. "And this is a friend we met recently. He has a flair for the dramatic."

Just then, the Avengers and Ahsoka arrived on the scene, taking in the sight of various dead and unconscious pirates scattered across the ground.

Before anyone could speak, Spider-Man swung in and landed gracefully nearby.

"Whoa, what happened here?" Peter asked, looking around at the aftermath.

"Just another day at the office, Peter," the man in the horned helmet said calmly. "You know how it is."

As Spider-Man was about to respond, he caught sight of an all-too-familiar face beneath the helmet.

"Matt?"

The man reached up and retracted his helmet, revealing a face Peter knew well.

"Hey, Peter," Daredevil said with a warm smile.

"Wait," Ahsoka interrupted, "you know him, Peter?"

Peter immediately made his way over to the superhero and pulled him into a tight hug.

"Man, I'm so glad you're okay, Matt," Spider-Man said, relief evident in his voice.

Daredevil's smile widened as he patted the young hero on the back.

"Good to know you're okay too, kid," Matt replied.

Spider-Man turned back to Ahsoka. "Yeah, this is Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil. He joined the Avengers around the same time I did."

"Well, at least we don't have to wait long for another wayward Avenger to turn up," Black Widow said as she approached the group.

"Ah, the formidable Natasha Romanoff," Daredevil said, turning toward her voice.

"Matt."

"It's been a few years since we've crossed paths, hasn't it?"

"Wait, you two know each other?" Spider-Man asked, confused.

"Commander, we need to move," one of the clone troopers interrupted. "All the pirates in the forward position have been eliminated."

"We'll catch up later," Black Widow said, already moving toward their destination.

The group raced back toward the pirate stronghold, arriving just in time to see Aayla Secura, the renowned Jedi Master, defeat another pirate while two other robed figures engaged several more enemies.

"Bly, Rex, take your men and secure the perimeter!" Aayla called out to the clone commanders.

The troopers quickly dispersed to their positions, leaving only two clearly hostile figures standing before the Jedi.

"Everyone stay back," Aayla commanded, her gaze fixed on the two dark-clad figures now approaching them. "This is our fight."

"That sounds like a terrible strategy," Black Widow commented dryly.

"Let the Jedi handle their business," Chirrut said calmly.

"Sounds like an excuse to me," Spider-Man muttered.

"Movement," Daredevil said suddenly, his head turning toward a specific direction. "Mechanical. Battle droids."

"We'll handle the droids," Black Widow told the Jedi. "You two deal with them."

As the clones and Avengers prepared to face the incoming mechanical threat, the two Jedi now confronted their mysterious opponents.

Ahsoka and Aayla stood side by side, facing a female Zabrak and a strange humanoid male. The man was covered almost entirely in dark armor from head to toe, with only the lower half of his face visible. The Zabrak wielded a green lightsaber, while the armored figure held a crimson blade.

"Caedan," Aayla said softly, recognizing the Zabrak before her. "You've fallen to the dark side? Do you really trust someone like Dooku?"

"Dooku possesses more wisdom and knowledge than any of those fossils on the Jedi Council," Caedan sneered in response.

"Wait, she's a Jedi?!" Ahsoka asked in disbelief.

"Ah, a pitiful young Padawan," the armored man taunted, "brainwashed and enslaved to a dying order."

"And you..." Aayla looked at the humanoid figure, "you're not a Jedi at all."

"I have never claimed to be a Jedi," the armored man said, raising his blade toward her. "But I am a man of conviction. Bil Valen is my name. Remember it well, for it will be the last name you ever hear."

"This is insane," Ahsoka muttered, igniting her green lightsaber as Aayla activated her blue blade.

The four combatants stood in tense silence, the sounds of blaster fire echoing around them, until Valen made the first move. He lunged at Ahsoka, forcing Aayla to intercept his strike with her own blade.

The battle erupted into chaos, with Aayla engaging Caedan while Valen pressed his attack against Ahsoka.

Caedan stumbled backward, staring up at Aayla, who stood calmly over her. The Jedi Master raised her lightsaber above her head, then slowly lowered it back to her side.

"Come on, Caedan," Aayla said gently. "It's not too late. You can still return to the Temple."

"And rejoin those enslaved fools?!" Caedan hissed. "Never!"

The fallen Jedi continued her assault, but Aayla deflected each strike with practiced ease.

As Ahsoka moved to help her friend, Valen intercepted her path. The young Padawan was forced to abandon her plan and focus entirely on the armored warrior.

She dodged and blocked several of Valen's lightsaber strikes, but the man proved to be incredibly strong and fast, his attacks relentless.

"Still just a Padawan," Valen taunted, his repeated blows forcing Ahsoka to stumble backward. "Join us, and I'll spare your life."

"Go to hell," Ahsoka growled, gripping her lightsaber tighter as she blocked Valen's crimson blade.

"Such anger and aggression for someone so young," Valen mocked.

Ahsoka gritted her teeth and fought back against Valen's assault, but she was soon caught off guard by a powerful kick to the stomach that sent her sprawling to the ground.

Valen raised his lightsaber for the killing blow, but paused when he heard Caedan cry out in frustration. He could see that she was struggling against the Twi'lek Jedi Master, their skill levels more evenly matched than he'd anticipated.

As Valen moved to assist his companion, a figure stepped into his path. The newcomer turned to face him, revealing milky, unseeing eyes that somehow seemed to pierce right through the dark warrior.

"Stand aside, blind man," Valen snarled, "or I'll cut you down where you stand."

"You call me blind, yet you cannot see the Force," Chirrut replied calmly.

"Then I'll have to kill you too."

Valen rushed at the blind monk, intent on ending this quickly. But Chirrut stepped aside effortlessly, avoiding the lightsaber strike with fluid grace.

"Stop running, damn you!"

"I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me," Chirrut said peacefully.

The Guardian of the Whills struck out with his staff, catching Valen off guard. The dark warrior, growing tired of toying with the blind man, swung his lightsaber at the wooden portion of Chirrut's weapon.

The staff appeared to be severed in two, leaving Chirrut seemingly defenseless.

"Ha! Without your stick, you're as good as dead!"

"Your arrogance blinds you worse than my own lack of sight," Chirrut said, extending his hands outward.

He reached out with the Force, and the metal components of his staff responded instantly. Valen, too busy gloating, failed to notice the movement.

As the metal pieces flew back into the blind man's hands, he connected them with a practiced twist, igniting what was revealed to be a lightsaber. The white blade hummed to life with brilliant intensity.

"You—you're a Jedi Knight?!" Valen stammered in shock.

"I am one with the Force," Chirrut said, pointing his lightsaber at the arrogant warrior, "but I am not a Jedi."

Valen snarled, "Jedi or not, you're still a dead man."

"Ah, how predictable," Chirrut said with a slight smile.

Valen answered with a flurry of aggressive strikes, but the blind Guardian easily dodged and deflected each blow from the red lightsaber. Valen hissed in pain as he felt his opponent step deliberately on his foot.

"Watch your step," Chirrut quipped, following up with a palm strike to Valen's chin that sent him stumbling backward.

Valen growled in frustration, making a wide, sweeping attack to create distance between himself and his opponent.

Chirrut took a few steps back, his head tilted slightly as his enhanced hearing tracked Valen's movements.

"You carry great anger and darkness in your heart," Chirrut observed.

"Shut up!"

"I speak only truth—something you refuse to hear or accept."

Valen roared in rage and lunged forward, but Chirrut sidestepped the attack and delivered a powerful kick to the warrior's chest, sending him flying backward.

Meanwhile, Aayla found herself in a deadlock with Caedan, though she was beginning to adapt to the Zabrak's fighting style.

Caedan attempted to overwhelm the Twi'lek Jedi with her fluid, form-shifting attacks, but Aayla lived up to her reputation as one of the Order's finest warriors.

Seeing an opening in Caedan's defense, Aayla seized the opportunity.

The Jedi Master reached out with her free hand, grabbed Caedan's elbow, and using a grappling technique Steve Rogers had taught her, threw the dark Jedi across the battlefield.

Caedan landed hard with a grunt and struggled to get back on her feet. She groaned as she tried to stand, only to realize her hands were now empty.

Her lightsaber was gone. She looked around frantically and spotted the weapon lying several meters away. Caedan reached out through the Force to reclaim it, but Aayla was doing the same.

"You don't deserve that lightsaber, Caedan," Aayla said firmly.

Aayla's connection to the Force easily overpowered Caedan's desperate attempt, and the lightsaber flew into the Jedi Master's waiting hand.

Caedan's rage was palpable. It was her lightsaber, yet now the Twi'lek had it clipped to her belt like a trophy.

She glanced over and saw that Valen was still fighting, but his situation was rapidly deteriorating.

Though she hated to retreat from any fight, Caedan knew she was now completely outmatched. She needed to escape so she could regroup and fight another day.

With her free hand, unnoticed by the others, Caedan activated the emergency transmitter on her belt.
