Chapter 5 - Chapter five

After their departure, Kai Renn strolled out of the city and headed to a secluded building on the outskirts of town. The structure was a repository of demon knowledge, a place where ancient tomes and forbidden lore were kept. Aliana had told him that this was where he had found the best book about the prophecy. Kai Renn's curiosity was piqued, and he hoped to uncover more about himself and his connection to the prophecy.

As he approached the building, Kai Renn felt a sense of unease. The structure loomed before him, its walls seeming to absorb the light around it. "This place looks like a haunted mansion from a horror movie," he thought to himself. "I hope they don't have any ghostly roommates." The door creaked ominously when he pushed it open, and a strange note echoed through the air. "Note to self: add 'creaky door' to the list of things that give me the heebie-jeebies," Kai Renn thought.

The interior was dimly lit, with rows of shelves lined with ancient texts and artifacts. "I've died and gone to heaven," Kai Renn joked to himself. "Or maybe this is the library of Alexandria... minus the Alexandria part." The room was inhabited by a variety of species, including Godbeast descendants, dragon descendants, demokins, and those who possessed the true demon bloodline. Kai Renn blended in, his eyes scanning the shelves as he searched for more information about the prophecy. He worked past a group of demokins who wore matching jackets, their eyes fixed on him with an unnerving intensity.

"What's up with the folks in this world?" Kai Renn thought to himself. "Do they all get their fashion sense from the same questionable source?" He eventually found a book similar to Aliana's, but older and more worn. "This one looks a bit interesting," he thought, deciding to take it with him. "I hope it's not a demon's diary or something. I don't want to unleash any ancient evils... again."

As he prepared to leave, a whisper echoed in his ear. "Kid, come here. There's something important you need to know." Kai Renn turned to see an old man, likely one of the workers at the repository. "Kid, what is your name?" the old man asked. Kai Renn hesitated for a moment before responding, "I am...Kai Renn." The old man looked at him suspiciously, but Kai Renn continued, "I'm from around here, but I wasn't raised in Brindlemark. I recently came back after hearing about my grandmother's passing, Mrs. Kai."

The old man's expression softened, and he said, "Sorry for your loss, child. I think I knew someone with the name Kai back then...You're in good luck, kid! If I hadn't called you, you would have been united with your deceased grandmother by now." Kai Renn raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What do you mean, old man? Did you save me from some kind of demonic traffic jam in the afterlife?"

The old man's demeanor changed, and he said, "Let me educate you, boy. The men you passed at the entrance are called Tebris of the Vora clan, and they don't take kindly to humans like you walking past them without showing deference. Every time a human walks past them without bowing, they live their last day." Kai Renn's eyes widened as he realized the gravity of the situation. "Well, that's not exactly the most welcoming committee," he thought to himself.

The old man continued, "Don't be an idiot, kid! My grandson was also a victim of their brutality. Their leader, Borax, does not show mercy to humans. He has achieved mastery in curse weaving magic as well as light infusion. Even the Noble clans don't dare to mess with him." Kai Renn nodded, taking mental notes. "Got it, old man. Avoid Borax and his minions. Add it to the list of things to avoid in this world."

The old man handed him an illusion potion that would mask his aura and appearance, allowing him to leave the building unharmed. "You can call me Sir Luben," the old man said. "By the way, I've noticed that your luck is low, but your energy level cannot be detected." Kai Renn took the potion and used it, feeling a strange sensation wash over him. "Thanks, Sir Luben. I owe you one. Or maybe I'll just owe you a batch of cookies or something."

As he left the building, Kai Renn couldn't help but wonder what other secrets this world held, and what lay ahead for him. "Well, this has been an interesting day," he thought to himself. "First, I find out I'm part of some prophecy, and now I'm dodging demon clans. I hope my insurance covers demonic possession." Despite the danger, Kai Renn felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. He

As Kai Renn walked back to his hotel, he couldn't shake the feeling that his life was about to get a lot more complicated. He had a book to read, and it seemed like it was going to be a long night. He settled into his room, opening the book to the page about the Dark Magic Hierarchy.

"Nyxoria, the deity of darkness, shadows, and the unknown," Kai Renn read aloud, his voice barely above a whisper. "I wonder if she's the one who decorates the haunted houses around here." He chuckled to himself, trying to lighten the mood.

As he read on, Kai Renn learned about the different levels of dark magic practitioners, from the Umbra Collective to the Tenebrous Mages. He whistled softly, impressed by the complexity of the hierarchy. "These guys take their dark magic seriously," he thought. "I hope they don't take themselves too seriously, or it'll be a real downer."

Kai Renn's eyes widened as he read about the different specializations within dark magic. "Shadow Magic, Curse Magic, Void Magic... and Necromancy? That's some heavy stuff." He felt a shiver run down his spine as he thought about the potential dangers of dark magic.

But what really caught his attention was the Dark Magic Twist. "So, using dark magic comes with a terrible cost," Kai Renn summarized. "You risk losing yourself to the darkness, becoming a shadow of your former self. That's some serious stakes." He thought about the implications, wondering if the benefits of dark magic were worth the risks.

As Kai Renn read about the Light Magic Hierarchy, he couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. "Arkeia, the deity of light and illumination," he read aloud. "I wonder if she's the one who inspired the creation of the luminous orbs that light up our cities." He chuckled to himself, feeling a bit more at ease.

The more he read, the more Kai Renn realized that light magic was a complex and multifaceted discipline. "Photomancers, Luminous Adepts, and Luminous Initiates," he read. "It seems like there's a whole hierarchy of light magic practitioners out there."

Kai Renn's eyes widened as he read about the different specializations within light magic. "Illumination Magic, Optical Magic, Purification Magic... and Reflection Magic? That's some cool stuff." He felt a sense of excitement, wondering what it would be like to master light magic.

As he read about the Light Magic Deities, Kai Renn felt a sense of reverence. "Arkeia, Solaria, and Luxara," he read. "They sound like powerful and wise beings." He felt a sense of gratitude towards these deities, hoping that they would guide him on his journey.

As Kai Renn read about the Time Magic Hierarchy, he felt a sense of awe and wonder. "Aevum, the deity of time and chronology," he read aloud. "I wonder what it would be like to wield control over the flow of time."

The more he read, the more Kai Renn realized that time magic was a complex and powerful discipline. "The Timekeepers, Chronomancers, Temporal Adepts, and Temporal Initiates," he read. "It seems like there's a whole hierarchy of time magic practitioners out there."

Kai Renn's eyes widened as he read about the different specializations within time magic. "Time Travel, Temporal Manipulation, Temporal Prediction... and Chrono-Protection? That's some serious stuff." He felt a sense of excitement, wondering what it would be like to master time magic.

As he read about the Time Magic Deities, Kai Renn felt a sense of reverence. "Aevum, Kronos, and Horaea," he read. "They sound like powerful and wise beings who govern the fabric of time itself." He felt a sense of curiosity, wondering what role these deities played in shaping the world of Dualixa.

Kai Renn's mind was racing with possibilities as he read about the different aspects of time magic. He wondered if he would ever have the chance to learn more about this magical discipline, and if he would be able to master its complexities. For now, he was content to learn as much as he could from the book, and to see where his journey would take him.

As Kai Renn read about the Space Magic Hierarchy, he felt a sense of wonder and awe. "Nexarion, the deity of space and distance magic," he read aloud. "I wonder what it would be like to wield control over the fabric of reality."

The more he read, the more Kai Renn realized that space magic was a complex and powerful discipline. "The Cosmic Architects, Spatial Adepts, Stellar Mages, and Astral Initiates," he read. "It seems like there's a whole hierarchy of space magic practitioners out there."

Kai Renn's eyes widened as he read about the different specializations within space magic. "Teleportation Magic, Portal Magic, Cosmic Navigation... and Gravitational Magic? That's some mind-bending stuff." He felt a sense of excitement, wondering what it would be like to master space magic.

As he read about the Space Magic Deities, Kai Renn felt a sense of reverence. "Nexarion, Astraea, and Kaelkos," he read. "They sound like powerful and wise beings who govern the cosmos itself." He felt a sense of curiosity, wondering what role these deities played in shaping the universe.

Kai Renn's mind was racing with possibilities as he read about the different aspects of space magic. He wondered if he would ever have the chance to learn more about this magical discipline, and if he would be able to master its complexities. The idea of teleportation, portal magic, and gravitational manipulation sparked his imagination, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and wonder.

"Teleportation would be so useful," Kai Renn thought to himself. "Imagine being able to travel across vast distances in an instant." He chuckled, thinking about the possibilities. "I wonder if I could teleport myself out of trouble sometime."

As Kai Renn read about the Life Magic Hierarchy, he felt a sense of reverence for the power of life and growth. "Vitalis, the supreme being associated with life magic," he read aloud. "I wonder what it would be like to wield such power and control over the forces of life."

The more he read, the more Kai Renn realized that life magic was a complex and multifaceted discipline. "Life Archons, Biomancers, Life Adepts, and Life Initiates," he read. "It seems like there's a whole hierarchy of life magic practitioners out there."

Kai Renn's eyes widened as he read about the different specializations within life magic. "Herbalism, Fauna Magic, Ecological Balance... and Healing Arts? That's some amazing stuff." He felt a sense of excitement, wondering what it would be like to master life magic.

As he read about the various aspects of life magic, Kai Renn felt a sense of appreciation for the importance of life and growth. He realized that life magic was not just about healing and protection, but also about maintaining harmony between living organisms and their environment.

"I can see how life magic would be essential for maintaining balance in the natural world," Kai Renn thought to himself. "It's not just about casting spells or incantations, but about understanding the intricate web of life and working with it."

Kai Renn's mind was filled with possibilities as he read about the different aspects of life magic. He wondered if he would ever have the chance to learn more about this magical discipline, and if he would be able to master its complexities. The idea of being able to heal and protect others, as well as maintain harmony with the natural world, resonated deeply with him.

As Kai Renn drifted off to sleep, he felt an inexplicable sensation wash over him, like his mind was being pulled into a realm beyond the physical world. He found himself standing in a void, a place where time seemed to stand still. The air was thick with an otherworldly energy, and Kai Renn could feel the weight of the universe's laws and aspects bearing down upon him.

As he looked around, Kai Renn felt like his mind was expanding, as if it had a world of its own. The void seemed to stretch out endlessly in every direction, and he felt tiny and insignificant in comparison to the vastness of the universe.

Suddenly, a voice boomed through the void, shaking Kai Renn to his core. The voice was like thunder, powerful and commanding, and it seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

"Moonlit, Moonlit, I have been waiting for you," the voice declared. "The time has come for you to become what you were meant to be. The time has come for us to take our place in the universe."

Kai Renn felt a shiver run down his spine as he realized that the voice was not just powerful, but supreme. It was a voice that commanded respect, a voice that demanded obedience.

"I am the Knight of Darkness," the voice continued. "Darkness controller of the darkness and void in the universe. Before everything came into being, I was there."

The voice was like a cold wind, cutting through Kai Renn's very soul. He felt his adrenaline surging, preparing him to run, but his legs seemed rooted to the spot. He was frozen in place, unable to move or escape the voice's commanding presence.

The Knight of Darkness's words seemed to echo through the void, filling Kai Renn's mind with a sense of awe and terror. He felt like he was in the presence of something truly ancient and powerful, something that had witnessed the birth and death of countless universes.

As Kai Renn stood there, frozen in fear, the Knight of Darkness's voice seemed to grow even louder, more powerful. It was a voice that seemed to hold the very fabric of reality in its grasp, a voice that could bend the laws of the universe to its will.

"You will do my bidding, Moonlit," the voice declared. "You will fulfill your destiny, and you will do it without question."

Kai Renn felt his mind reeling, his thoughts consumed by the voice's commanding presence. He knew that he was in the presence of something truly supreme, something that would stop at nothing to achieve its goals. And he knew that he was just a mere mortal, subject to the whims of this powerful being.

The Knight of Darkness continued, his voice like a dark prophecy. "The wars that are to come will shake the very foundations of the multiverse. The other worlds, bound by their rigid laws and pure bloodlines, will join forces to eradicate the Demon World, the one place where diversity of organisms is allowed to thrive."

Kai Renn listened in awe as the Knight of Darkness spoke of the other gods from multiple realms, each bound by specific laws of the universe. "These gods will choose heroes, individuals akin to deities in terms of power, to fight against the darkness that they believe you represent," the Knight of Darkness said.

The Knight of Darkness's voice was laced with a sense of inevitability, a sense that the course of events was already set in motion. "The entire multiverse believes that dark magic is the destroyer of the universe's intricate balance. They see us as a threat, a cancer that must be cut out if the multiverse is to survive."

The Knight of Darkness's words painted a picture of a vast, complex web of worlds and gods, all working towards a single goal: the eradication of the Demon World and the destruction of dark magic. Kai Renn felt like a pawn in a much larger game, a game that would determine the fate of the multiverse.

The Knight of Darkness's voice seemed to grow even darker, more ominous, as he spoke of the wars to come. "But we will not go quietly into the night, Moonlit. We will fight, and we will not be defeated. The time of reckoning is upon us, and the fate of the multiverse hangs in the balance."

Kai Renn's mind reeled with the weight of the Knight of Darkness's words, his thoughts racing with the implications of the wars to come. He had always thought of the Knight of Darkness as a myth, a legend whispered around campfires to frighten children. But now, he found himself in the presence of this powerful being, and his skepticism began to crumble.

"I know," Kai Renn said, trying to brush off the feeling of unease that had settled in his stomach. "And it's just a dream. Tomorrow, I'll wake up and start my day as usual."

The void fell silent, and the Knight of Darkness's presence seemed to grow even more imposing. One of the deities of darkness, Zha Thik, spoke up, his voice like thunder in the void. "Don't look down on our lord, mortal. Do you think we are all a joke?"

Kai Renn realized that he was not alone with the Knight of Darkness. There were other beings present, and he could sense their power and majesty. The Knight of Darkness spoke, his voice dripping with amusement. "Pardon me, I had forgotten that mere mortals can't see us."

With a wave of his hand, the Knight of Darkness cast a spell that allowed Kai Renn to behold the deities of darkness. As Kai Renn's eyes adjusted to the sight, he fell to his knees, overwhelmed by the majesty of the beings before him.

The deities of darkness stood in a pattern, their golden armor glinting like the sun. They were enormous, their forms towering over Kai Renn like mountains. Their presence was mesmerizing, and Kai Renn felt like a bacterium in comparison, insignificant and tiny.

At the center of the pattern stood the Knight of Darkness, clad in dark armor that seemed to absorb the light around him. An aura burned around him, like embers from the underworld, casting a fiery glow over the void. The Knight of Darkness's presence was both captivating and terrifying, and Kai Renn felt his senses overwhelmed by the sight.

The deities of darkness seemed to radiate power, their very presence altering the fabric of reality. Kai Renn's mind struggled to comprehend the sight before him, his senses traveling to a world beyond his own and failing to interpret the majesty of the beings he beheld. He felt like he was staring into the face of the divine, and he knew that he was but a mere mortal, unworthy to gaze upon such power.

The Knight of Darkness's voice was urgent, his words piercing the void like a dagger. "Moonlit, we don't have much time. The binding must be done."

The deities of darkness began to chant, their ancient language echoing through the void like a symphony of darkness. The words were like nothing Kai Renn had ever heard before, and they seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly power.

As the chanting grew louder, the Knight of Darkness reached out and touched Kai Renn's forehead. Suddenly, the two beings began to merge, their forms blurring together like mist and moonlight.

Kai Renn felt like he was being consumed by a fire that burned hotter than the very core of the earth. His body felt like it was being torn apart and put back together again, his mind reeling with agony. He screamed, but his voice was lost in the void.

The pain was indescribable, like his entire body was filled with lava. Kai Renn felt like he was experiencing death a thousand times, his consciousness torn apart by the binding.

And then, everything went black.

Kai Renn's eyes snapped open, and he let out a scream that echoed through the hotel room. "Aaah!" He was drenched in sweat, his heart racing like a wild animal.

He stumbled out of bed and staggered to the water jug, pouring himself a glass with shaking hands. "Just a bad dream," he told himself, taking a few sips of water. "It wasn't real."

But as he lay back in bed, he couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed. Something had awakened within him, something that wouldn't be silenced.

As he drifted off to sleep, Kai Renn couldn't help but wonder: had it really been just a dream?
