When Xavier and Magneto arrived back at X-mansion after meeting with yet another Congressman to pitch for support of new superpowered people, the received news about what happened with Jean's family.
"They wouldn't have died if you didn't brainwash my daughter! She would have remained in our home and those damn terrorists wouldn't have taken it over!"
Jean's father shouted at Xavier. He almost attacked him if not for Scott holding him back.
Magneto didn't say anything but looked at Xavier.
He was also getting suspicious if Xavier had erased some of his memories?
He clearly remembers his days in Holocaust. Living in concentration camps. His parents being shoved in gas chambers before his eyes.
And Nazis developing an interest in him when he subconsciously tore apart the concentration camp's fence while trying to run away.
And then, constant hell. And when Nazis felt that he had grown too powerful to contain, and that they couldn't make him their weapon, they put him under some container which freezed him.
And when Nazis fell, his container somehow ended up in Arctic, hidden from the world beneath ice.
Until 47 years later, Xavier found him. According to him, his mind was still somewhat active when he was in his container. And Xavier found him because he sensed his mind while flying to Russia for the first time in his life after USSR fell.
But... what if he also had a family after his parents' death? And Xavier made him forget about them because just like Jean?
Xavier sighed and said to Jean's father, "I am sorry for your loss... I shouldn't have done that..."
"You are responsible for my family's death. You f*cking mind-controlling Mutant! Just like that terrorist!"
This time, Magneto intervened as he hated this.
"Look, I know that Xavier did the wrong thing. But at that time, when The Snap happened and Jean awakened her powers, it turned awful for the people around her. She was having a mental breakdown, and due to her powers, your entire town went into coma.
Xavier's method was wrong, but he didn't have any wrong intentions. He told her everything once everyone returned.
And Jean is also like us. So don't label us as any different."
Scott said, "Our powers are sometimes unstable, just think like with Hulk in his initial days. I killed my Mom the moment I born when I opened my eyes. They are like Superman's laser eyes, but constantly on and I still can't control them at will."
Well, not exactly laser eyes, but Scott wanted him to understand.
Jean's father looked at the boy in glasses, and stopped struggling. Scott also freed him.
"Where is Jean? I can't loose her too."
Hank answered, "Most likely to kill the rest of the terrorists."
"What!? That's dangerous! She is still a kid! I... I am going."
Magneto put his hand on Jean's father to assure him. "I will bring her, sir. I have power of magnetism. No terrorist will be able to touch her. Your life will be in danger—"
"I AM GOING!"
"Sir... Jean also lost her mother and sister. She wouldn't want to lose her father as well. I promise you. I will make sure that she is safe. You should rest right now. Your burns are severe."
"...Fine."
Jean's father shoved Magneto's hand and went inside the medical room.
It was clear that he hates mutants.
Magneto sighed and gestured Xavier to talk to him about some serious stuff.
As they went inside a room, Magneto said, "Just mind control the President and other members of Congress to join us into Avengers."
"WHAT!? What the hell are you saying Eric!?"
"Charles, we don't have the time. We have to protect ourselves before these fools use us as a tool to distract public from real matters.
Hitler used the same tactics to grow the antisemitic views of the already Jew-hating Christians.
If we don't act fast, before we know it, someone as crazy as Hitler will come to power and start another Holocaust... No. Ross will probably start it himself. Don't you know how hard he hunted Hulk?"
"Eric, I understand where you are coming from. But using my powers like that..."
"You don't have any problem in brainwashing kids, but you have problem in brainwashing these damn politicians!?"
"Didn't Jean left because of precisely this!? Didn't her mom and sister died because I thought using my powers like this would be helping her!?
...I will never use my power like this again."
Magneto fell silent as Charles broke down in tears.
Charles genuinely cared for Jean, just like all other children. But, it was his fault that her mom and sister died so horrifically. His fault that her father has such severe burns.
Magneto stood up and walked to the door.
"I will make sure Jean is safe. I am sure that she can handle some pesky terrorists, but there might be other superpowered individuals involved. We will get back once she gets her revenge."
"Eric. Please don't let her kill people."
"What's wrong with killing terrorists? She already killed one who burnt them, in case you weren't paying proper attention."
"WHAT!?"
Magneto understood that Charles isn't in the right state of mind, so he left him alone with some encouragement.
"Our powers aren't a curse, Charles. Your powers may be invasive, but they can help millions of people, unlike mine. Just use them correctly so that it doesn't come to another Holocaust."
With that, Magneto left to find Jean.
Xavier isn't the only telepath around.
