Chapter 2 - Blood and Steel

[Host syncing with the Domination system...]

[Synchronization completed!]

[Host has successfully synced with the system!]

[The Domination System grants the host unparalleled control over living beings, objects, abstract concepts, and battlefields...]

[Warning! A strange phenomenon is about to occur... Brace yourself!]

Reading through the ton of messages, his eyes widened as he read the last.

'What the hell is happening?!' The thought barely formed before he was engulfed in pain.

It was as if his blood had been placed in a pit of flames, causing unbearable pain through every fiber of his being. Eyes bloodshot, he saw wisps of blood begin to swirl slowly–then faster, gradually gaining speed.

With the pain, the clash of steel and screams were no longer heard. His senses were blocked by the relentless pain. Just when he felt he was about to pass out, it came to a stop.

The storm of blood flooded into him like a tidal wave and began to die down. Wisps of blood had broken from its remnants, forming a smaller vortex with a ominous glow pulsating at the center.

[Host has undergone his first transformation as a Blood...]

[Congratulations! Due to certain circumstances you've begun at the lowest tier... you're now a Fledgeling Vampire!]

[Blood Trait Awakened: Blood Summoner]

'What the hell is going on?!' Alex screamed once again in his mind, barely able to keep up with the notifications flooding his vision.

That wasn't all...

A splitting headache struck as foreign memories began flooding his mind. Memories that weren't his.

He bit his lip as he struggled to stop himself from screaming. Minutes passed like hours before the screen finally flickered once again.

[Host can now check his profile. But first, get your ass up and analyse your situation...!]

Raising his head, Alex could finally see his surroundings.

The clash of steel echoed once more. Soldiers clashed across the blood soaked battlefield.

He came to a realization.

Those wearing dark armour–similar to his–were being slaughtered. And judging by how things were going, it wouldn't be long before they all fell.

And then... he would be next... killed again after just getting... transmigrated?

[You're in deep shit!]

The system's voice echoed in his head.

[Quest Received: As the Holder of the Domination System, turn the tide of battle in your favour and secure your first victory!]

"Shit!" Alex cursed as he observed, a feeling of fear forming in the pit of his stomach. "This can't be happening…"

He barely had time to process the fragmented memories he'd just received. Amidst his wavering emotion, he felt something.

"Why does this look familiar?"

"Heck! I'll get back to that later. First, I need to get out of this situation. System, can you show me my stats?"

[Host Profile]

[Name: Alexander Ivan Rodnerick]

[Race: Vampire] [Rank: Fledgling]

[Blood Core: 0/1000] [Magical Tier: Tier-1]

[Other Stats]

[Strength: 12]

[Agility: 13]

[Stamina:10]

[Intelligence: 12] [Health: 50]

[Willpower: 9] [Focus: 5] [Charm: Locked]

A chill ran down his spine.

"Wait a second! A-Alexander Ivan Rodnerick! I–Isn't that the name of the Sixth prince in-in... Legend & Dynasties?" His eyes widened as he further read.

"Race... Vampire!" He stumbled backward, heart pounding. Shit! Shit! Shit!

"Did I just get transmigrated? As an extra meant to die, as a matter of fact!" Sitting upright, he placed both palms on his face. Through the gaps, one could see a strange unsettling smile on his lips.

"This... his fate toying with me? Of all the characters, you get to pick Ivan?"

[Warning! Failure to complete the quest would lead to the Host's demise!]

"Dammit! There's this stupid quest I have to complete. How do I even go about it?"

The character he turned out to be was a useless one, an extra with a single role to play.

Hold on? Has it happened, or...

Staring down at his chest, a gaping hole could be seen in his armour with patches of dried blood.

"Holy shit!" He muttered with goosebumps appearing over his body. He had really taken over the body of the Crippled Prince.

[Bonus received: As the first user of the Domination System...]

"First user? Are they supposed to be others... Wait a moment! I didn't read anything about there being a Domination system in the damn book!"

[Bonus Pack received: 3 Runic stones]

"What the hell! Just that? Three runic stones? No heavenly rendering sword?"

Before he could complain further, the blood vortex finally stopped leaving behind a large pulsating grimoire floating in its place.

[Host has successfully awakened his Blood Fragment...]

[Blood Fragment Awakened: Blood Grimoire]

[Rank:???]

"Blood Fragment! This…"

Well, he had no time for much thought as the strange process had caught the eyes of nearby enemies.

Quickly rising to his feet, he grabbed a sword lying on the ground in panic.

He had no time as a figure in green armour broke from the skirmish and charged right at him with his sword raised high.

Panic–gripped. He managed to block the first attack but failed to fully deflect the second. A shallow gash formed on his cheek with blood trickling out.

"I can't die again," he muttered amidst the sickening fear.

"Come on, you can do this!" He steadied his grip and exhaled. His stance shifted as instinct took over.

The warrior struck again but this time around... it was different.

He saw the trajectory clearly and quickly sidestepped and countered. His blade slashed upward, blood spraying through the air.

The enemy gasped, clutching his throat as blood gushed out.

With trembling hands, Alex thrust forward. His sword passed through the steel-plated armour, ending his life.

Staggering backwards, he managed to balance himself.

"I–I… killed him."

"Now is not the time to think about that. It's either kill or be killed!"

He didn't even feel much disgust, and his emotions were in a better state than he thought, probably due to his new race.

"H-hey, system, w–what can I use the runic stones for?"

[Figure out yourself!]

"Screw you!"

Thinking about the stones, they appeared, floating before him. Touching the first one, he received a notification from the system. The black little stone with runic symbols around it crumbled to particles as the screen popped up.

[You've unlocked a new skill: Subjugation]

Touching the next two—red and green–the same thing happened. This time around, the notifications from the system were different.

[Fire Runic Stone (Inactive): Once activated, temporarily grants fire manipulation]

[Wind Runic Stone(Inactive): Once activated, temporarily grants wind manipulation]

Alex's eyes widened as he saw two enemies charging towards him. "Activate the wind runic stone!"

[Wind runic stone activated. Time limit: 1 minute]

"Just one minute! You gotta be fucking kidding me!"

The wind surged around him as he prepared for the clash. He had watched tons of anime to have a basic idea on element manipulation. Though he soon found out a bit late—seeing and carrying out the action was a whole different thing. A wind blade shot toward one but missed its target.

The second enemy charged forward, crashing into him. His sword narrowly missed his throat by a few inches, leaving a shallow cut.

Alex quickly steadied his mind and faced his opponent's assault. He wasn't on the back foot for long as he slowly began to gain control of the fight.

He was quickly getting attuned to this body. One thing he found out about the body of the previous owner was that despite his crazy lifestyle, his body appeared to be in shape.

His sword movements were somewhat fluid and sharp. Rolling across the ground, he evaded the blade coming at him and then thrust his sword forward.

"Urghh," the guy groaned as the sword pierced through his stomach. The first enemy was down.

The second charged forward, seeing his comrade down. But Alex was prepared, wind swirled around his feet as he easily spun and swung his sword in an arc.

Blood splashed on the already bloodied ground as the figure dropped to the ground, life fading from his eyes.

Drawing in a handful of breaths, Alex finally noticed the floating grimoire beside him.

"Huh? What's this?"

Finally having breathing room, he noticed the once blank space was covered in blood-red ink.

Three words were boldly written on it.

'Blood Summon Possible'
