Chapter 93 - Chapter 93: The King's Answer

At this moment, hearing Lucan's solemn inquiry, Suya pointed to himself and scratched his head, "Me?"

To be honest, Suya didn't feel deeply about becoming a king. In fact, for him, becoming a king who had to bear the fate of others was not a reward, but a responsibility etched into his bones due to what he learned in his previous life in such a country.

After shedding the urgent need to recklessly carry his 'treasure' and flee in a desperate situation, for him, becoming a king was good, and being a strong person was also good.

As for what the King of Conquerors had said before—the Feast of Seven Kings, the War of Seven Nations, only one king surviving in the end—such fantastical and bizarre narratives were too distant for Suya, who was merely a High Swordsman.

Despite having such a desire in his heart, whenever he thought of the crown, which felt heavier the more he came to understand this world, he couldn't help but ask himself:

Am I truly worthy of wearing this crown?

At this moment, Lucan clearly perceived Suya's ambiguous attitude towards this matter. He nodded and solemnly stated:

"Precisely."

"To me, it is you, and only you."

"If you wish to become king, we will fully support your ascension to the throne."

"And if you do not yet have such an intention, then, of course, you may live as you wish; we will not, and cannot, obstruct you."

"However, I will still prepare for this, for that is the duty of a vassal."

"A vassal...?" Suya looked at Lucan with a hint of scrutiny in his gaze. Although the man before him was an undeniable con artist, he had not deceived Suya. In fact, on the night of the breakthrough, he had risked his life to help Suya escape and fulfill his plan. The heart of a man is flesh and blood, and so is a dragon's. Because of this, Suya already regarded the other party as his 'treasure.'

However, "Lucan, Dagonet , Merlin, there are no outsiders here, and our original purpose for uniting has been achieved. So, I'll be direct—"

"I am not a king."

Suya looked at the three people in the covered wagon who seemed to have a premonition and had suddenly fallen silent.

"You don't need to respectfully address me as king, nor do you need to meticulously plot and risk your lives to help me."

At this point, Suya looked at Merlin and said directly:

"Merlin, you initially wanted me to become king and seize the Britannian royal treasury, but later, you changed your mind and wanted me to be your cardmate, to help you win money playing cards?"

"That's right, isn't it?"

Merlin averted her gaze slightly, remaining silent. It was indeed like that at first, but after Suya almost single-handedly confronted the legendary King of Conquerors, allowing everyone to escape with their lives.

The scales of balance shifted, to the extent that even now in the capital, she hadn't proactively brought up the matter. Instead, to help Suya clear himself under Agravain's scrutiny, she had proactively sought out Princess Morgan le Fay and made a deal.

"No problem, as a friend, I can certainly help you play cards."

After speaking to Merlin, Suya turned to Lucan and Dagonet .

"Lucan, Dagonet , you disguised yourselves as Sir Hector and his cavalry to escape that battlefield. That's why you sought my cooperation, and we indeed escaped that meat grinder of a battlefield and arrived in what can now be considered the safe capital."

"Right?"

Lucan nodded silently, Dagonet silently held the reins. Suya looked at them and frankly stated:

"Therefore, whether it's about purpose, transaction, or anything else, we have already turned this chapter. We no longer owe each other anything."

"You don't need to feel indebted to me and therefore wish to compensate me."

However—

"That's not it!"

Dagonet interrupted Suya at this point. He gazed at Suya and said deeply:

"O King, Dagonet has sworn allegiance to you."

"Therefore, from that day forward,

"Your wishes are my wishes, your glory is my glory!"

"Your knights do not wish for you to be king because of a transaction."

"But because of a heartfelt recognition—"

"Believing that, apart from you, no one in Britannia is worthy of being called King!"

"Believing that no matter what choice you make, whether you are momentarily lost or abandon the throne, by simply following you, we will certainly change the current state of Britannia!"

"A King is not made by drawing a sword, but because you are already King!"

Dagonet looked towards the distant, mountain-like Silver Crown Royal Court, stating firmly:

"This utterly false ceremony does not seek the throne, nor the pinnacle of power."

"We simply hope that more people can see you, see you raising your sword, and understand your noble character."

"Then,"

"Countless people like me, lost on the path of life, will spontaneously gather under your banner—"

"Taking it as the highest honor to become your knight!"

The carriage slowly moved forward in the center of the street, parting the human sea.

On this seemingly ordinary day, within this utterly common horse-drawn carriage.

There was no luxurious banquet, no majestic round table.

No splendor of jewels, nor the solemnity of a palace.

Responding to the fervent gazes of these knights, who were not conventional in their righteousness.

Suya took a deep breath, made his decision, and gave his answer to his knights:

"I cannot give you a definitive answer directly, but I allow you to act for me, for your own ideals."

"And to match your loyalty, to obtain this answer, to decide whether to become king—"

Suya looked at the three before him, stating solemnly:

"I need power!"

Without power, he could do nothing, protect nothing. He would only watch helplessly as his treasure was taken away, crying like a whimpering wretch on the ground, unable to change anything.

Suya had had enough of running around, being chased like a rat!

If, when facing the King of Conquerors, he had summoned a true Divine Construct, if he had pulled out the Holy Spear Rhongomyniad buried beneath this capital.

Then he wouldn't have to humbly depend on others, wouldn't have to carefully feign false strength!

Suya couldn't give a direct answer now, couldn't directly agree to Lucan, because he simply knew too little.

Merlin had mentioned that becoming a legend required a path and a legend.

So, would different paths affect combat power after becoming a hero, a legend? What kind of power is formed by the convergence of faith, what kind of side effects and limitations do heroes and legends shaped by this method have, and how strong would they truly be? He was completely clueless.

But the only thing Suya knew was that deep down, what he most desired was a pure, flawless, powerful force capable of ravishing the world!

Just then, the horse-drawn carriage finally reached the spot Lucan had designated.

However, before the few people inside the carriage, a lord and his vassals, could finish their significant conversation.

Outside the carriage, a dazzling light-sword suddenly flared up, like daylight descending—a nascent form of the very great power Suya desired—directly piercing through the canopy of their carriage!

The view instantly brightened!

"This body is the manifestation of the sun, and that which reclaims debts—"

"Rotating Sword of Victory (Excalibur Gallatin)!"

"Uninvolved personnel in the carriage, please leave immediately."

A righteous, clear cry resonated powerfully from outside the carriage, accompanied by surging hot flames:

"Miss Merlin, it's time to pay your debts!"
