Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2 - LEAVING HOME

Her eyes spun and she whispered in ragged breaths.

"What do you want, Alpha?"

She sauntered back to the pack amidst the tauntings and mockery. She locked her door and held her chest tight.

Her chest was constricted. She couldn't even tell whether it was out of pain caused by Ryker's betrayal and rejection, or by fear of meeting Alpha Ezekiel face to face.

Her door flung open and Vista stepped in with a smirk.

"Are you done crying?"

"What do you want from me?"

Vista chuckled, "You now talk back at me. You're an omega, a lowlife, a nobody. You should have known Ryker would never settle for you."

Valeigh sighed in defeat, "You're right. Happy now?" She raised her head and scowled, "You should leave my room."

"Oh please, don't bite me. I heard Omegas have the capacity of turning someone into one." Vista chuckled, "I don't wanna be infested with an Omega's blood."

"Why do you despise me?"

"Despise?" Vista moved closer to her bed and grabbed her neck, "You repulse and disgust me. I.HATE.YOU."

She fought back her tears and swallowed. She was going to make them pay, all of them.

"The wedding is in two days. Get ready to cry a river."

The door shut and she covered her face in pain. There was no need to shed tears, she only had to make them pay for everything.

-----

Ezekiel strolled into the hall with deadly eyes. His gaze, travelling across the hall.

"Alpha!"

The elders chorused in unison and he almost clutched his head in frustration.

"If you don't have anything tangible to say, I'd advise y'all to be on your way."

Their faces fell and his curled up into a deadly smirk,

"You obviously came for something unreasonable. Say whatever nonsense you have to say."

The Prime Minister cleared his throat, "The elders wanted to know if you have found your Luna. We wanted to kno—"

"Get out all of you. If you're here to discuss that, then you have nothing tangible to rant about. There's gonna be no Luna, until I say so. Even if my mate shows up, I won't make her Luna until she proves to be worthy of it."

Gasps filled the hall, but no one dared protest—not a single soul. They stared at him like a god—their god.

"Leave all of you. You won't like my reaction if I find you here in ten seconds."

They scrambled out of the hall, running helter-skelter.

"Well, well, well. They'll be silenced for a moon or so. You can't shut them up forever. You'd better listen to them."

"Shut up, Ian. You're my Beta, not my superior"

Ian scoffed and muttered incoherent words. Ezekiel rolled his eyes at him.

"You know I would never apologize. I won't retract my statement either, so don't bother giving me that look."

"Egoistic jerk" Ian mumbled and Ezekiel chuckled.

His face became stoic and he cleared his throat, "The girl in the woods. I…"

Ian raised his brows and a mischievous glint glittered in his eyes, "Woaaaaah, is that attraction I see?"

"Your eyes must be faulty then"

"Then what about her, Zeke?"

Ian was still not giving up on teasing Ezekiel. Ezekiel shot him a stare.

"Find everything about her and have it delivered to me by noon tomorrow"

"Noon? It's dusk already. How do I find everything about someone in barely eighteen hours?"

"That's more than enough time, Ian. Don't be a pussy."

Ian rolled his eyes and walked away, "On it."

A satisfied smirk spread on his face, "Valeigh. Interesting."

----

Two Weeks Later

Valeigh sighed as she wore her fluffy slippers. It was a hand down from Alexa.

The name, Alexa, brought pain to her heart. She swallowed and looked at her feet. It was a day to the dreaded wedding!

"I wish they'd just die." She mumbled and bit her bottom lip.

Her eyes darted to her cupboard and she blinked them consecutively.

The token!

She rushed to the cupboard and pulled it open. She stared at the silver emblem carved like a crescent and sighed.

"A visit won't hurt me, right?"

She shrugged her shoulders and returned the token back to its position.

She was going to take that token if the wedding eventually held.

----

Ian stood behind Ezekiel as he watched him fumble with the iPad on his palm.

"She's Caden's daughter?"

"Yeah. Caden has three daughters and she happens to be the second"

"Why is she hidden from the public?" Ezekiel's full brows danced on his face.

"She's an omega."

A smirk spread on his face, "Make sure you're available tomorrow. We'll be having a guest by nightfall."

----

Valeigh's head spun and she clutched the door for support.

It was the wedding day!

She walked into the hall where the wedding was held and gasped—her father had gone out of his way to make the wedding a perfection. A wedding that was supposed to be hers—her wedding!

She watched from a corner as they said their vows, beside the fire. Ryker was beaming and Alexa's face was about to tear with smiles.

Her fists clenched and she turned around, taking huge strides to her room. She grabbed the token and rubbed it lightly, tossing a few of her clothes into a bag. She didn't touch anything that belonged to her sisters or family.

She dropped a short note and walked away, away to another life where she didn't know what was in store for her.

She changed into her wolf form and ran into the woods. She knew the way to the Silver Crescent Pack. It was a five hour journey with about an hour and half for resting and eating.

"I don't even have up to fifty Kalez? I can't get two square meals with this."

"Little fool, we can arrive in time if you eat once and take a train to Belgard. From there, it's a three hour trip. What do ya think?" Her wolf, Freya squealed.

She nodded and smirked, "Let's get to Belgard then."

—------------------------------------

Valeigh stood in front of the border and fear coursed through her veins. She was about entering enemy territory.

"Stop there!" The border guard ordered. "Your pass."

"I have no pass, only a token."

They glanced at each other and their leader stretched his right palm towards her.

She placed the token on it and his face glistened.

"The Alpha's token. She's the guest the Beta spoke of. Get her ready for we will be rewarded by the Beta."

She smiled and was helped into a car. For the first time in her nonentity life, she was treated with importance.

"Damn, I'm gonna love this place."
