Yuu felt his body heavy. Was someone holding him down?
He slowly opened his eyes.
Moonlight filtered through the window, bathing the room in a pale glow. Because of that, he saw a dark silhouette resting on his chest.
That small, dark silhouette had two red eyes staring straight at him. Unblinking and shining like jewels.
'Ahh, how nostalgic. It's been ages since I last had sleep paralysis.'
Of course, as someone above god, he couldn't actually suffer from sleep paralysis. His internal monologue was more of a joke than anything.
The small figure tilted her head.
Golden hair fell over her face, carrying a faint scent of shampoo. At the same time, the dim moonlight illuminated her pale skin.
It was Yue.
The tiny vampire was sitting on top of him, one leg on each side of his waist. Her crimson eyes blinked slowly.
Yuu let out a sigh.
He could hear the distant chirping of some birds outside.
That meant dawn was near.
"…Yue. What are you doing?"
She tilted her head slightly.
"Watching you."
"You know, you look kinda scary when you do that."
"Scary? Am I scary to you, Yuu?"
The moonlight shimmered across her face as she said it.
A tiny vampire sitting on his chest, staring at him in the dark. Any other person would've jumped out of their skin at that sight.
But Yuu wasn't just any person.
He raised a hand and, without a word, caught Yue's soft cheeks between his fingers.
"No."
He tugged her cheeks lightly.
"Actually, you're pretty cute."
Yue's eyes narrowed, and a sound like a faint purr escaped her throat.
"Cute… mm…"
She seemed to enjoy the way his fingers stroked her cheek.
Then she lowered her head, hiding her face between his neck and chin. Her breath was warm and sweet.
"Mm… Yuu, I'm hungry."
"Go ahead."
At his answer, Yue's tongue brushed against the skin of his neck. Slowly, she explored until she found the perfect spot.
Then, two sharp fangs sank gently into him.
Yuu didn't feel pain. There was only a warm sensation as she drank.
"Mmh~"
He placed a hand on Yue's back, stroking her hair while she drank unhurriedly, savoring every drop.
Her small body relaxed on top of him, soft, muffled moans escaping her lips.
When she finally pulled away, her cheeks were flushed pink. Sitting astride him, her crimson eyes gleamed brighter than before.
"Mm... thanks for the meal... it was delicious."
Yuu watched her tongue slip out as she licked the remaining white liquid from her lips.
"You're welcome."
She settled back down on his chest, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Yuu... when will you go back to that other world?"
"I don't know yet."
"Mmm... I hope it's soon."
"Why?"
"Because... I wanna see how you are around other people. I wanna be there with you."
Yue didn't want Yuu to be alone. She wanted him to always have someone. Her, and those he cared about.
When she finished speaking, she lifted her head slowly. That brought her lips dangerously close to his. When she licked her lower lip in a teasing way, they even brushed slightly.
"Yuu... can I?"
"Can you what?"
She pointed to her own face with a small finger.
"That thing humans do... when they like each other."
"A kiss?"
She nodded, her usually expressionless face faintly tinted pink.
"Mm... it's my first kiss."
"Your first kiss?"
"Um..."
She tilted her head a little to the side.
"I want you to be the first. I want you to be the only one."
Yuu lifted a hand to her face. His fingers traced the curve of her jaw softly.
She closed her eyes.
Then their lips met.
Yuu noticed her lips were soft, though stiff at first, since it was her first kiss. Slowly, she relaxed into it.
Her petite body pressed closer against his, and she grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers.
"Hmnh~"
She let out a small sound when they parted, eyes still closed.
"Mm... kissing feels... good."
"Did you like it?"
"Uh-huh. I think I'm gonna get addicted to kissing you, Yuu..."
With a soft "fufu~," she licked her lips and half-closed her eyes, gazing at the face beneath her.
The boy's white hair was spread over the pillow, with a few strands falling across his forehead. Hair so white and pure. Deep, gentle golden eyes.
Yue stared for a while, then raised a hand and brushed aside the strand of hair on his forehead with her finger.
"Yuu... can we do it again?"
Without replying, Yuu held the top of Yue's head and gently drew her closer. Their lips touched again.
This time, Yue knew what to do. Her lips responded to his with a little more confidence.
It was a kiss that lasted several minutes.
When it ended, Yue rested her head on his chest once more.
"I love you, Yuu."
The being who'd saved her from the dark abyss. The being who made it possible for her to feel freedom again. The one she trusted with her entire being.
The one who'd given her a new beginning.
Those words slipped from her lips naturally.
"..."
The fingers running through her golden hair paused for a few seconds before continuing in silence.
Yuu couldn't say he loved her. He didn't feel it the way he should.
That thought made him mock himself. Such an extraordinary girl had confessed her love, yet he couldn't love her back. What a despicable being he was.
But he knew he had to try.
"You're special, Yue."
Even if he couldn't love, Yue sat in the front row of his heart, where the seats were empty, save for a few. With Saya, Saeko, Jin-ah, Rei, and Shizuka beside her.
And while it might not be pure love, it was possessive and deeply obsessive.
She lifted her face against his chest, looking up at him from that position.
"Is that the same as saying you love me?"
"No. But it's as close as I can get for now."
Yuu knew it wasn't enough, but it was all he could offer without lying.
"That's fine... I'll make Yuu fall in love with me. I'll make you say 'I love you' one day, fufu~."
