Chapter 145: The Distance Between the Two (8)
“Fa-Father, are you serious?” Perris stared at his father with his mouth agape
The emperor merely smiled back. His expression was always gentle whenever he looked at Perris. It was a mixture of affection and pride for his son, who resembled him but had grown into something even more precious, and a longing for someone lost long ago.
“Follow me.”
Instead of providing an answer, the emperor strode forward with wide strides, leaving Perris puzzled as he hurried to keep pace.
“Do you see it?”
Passing through the corridor, the emperor led Perris to the central hall. This was a room used for audiences when it wasn’t being utilized as for banquets. Right now, it was empty except for a single attendant.
Deep within the vast expanse of the room, a raised platform held a dazzling throne.
“Fetch me the crown,” the emperor instructed the attendant, causing Perris’ eyes to widen.
