Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9: THE BLIND KNIGHT

Ahab sneaks around the castle ground. Trying to look for his first goals in saving this story.

The first goal is to recognize the two main leads in the story: Eliza, The Blind Silver Knight and Queen Seraphine, a monarch that looks good in front of the people of Caer Lune but has a dark secret behind.

"I need to know what the two main characters look like, so I can continue without mistaking the characters with other characters," said Ahab.

Suddenly a heavy step sound appeared behind Ahab. It sounds like a heavy steel stomping the ground. Ahab nervously turns around thinking that he already busted this early in his first mission. When he turned around, he saw a full silver and steel armour knight behind him menacingly. The knight is already in position to withdraw its sword anytime.

"Who goes there, trespassing upon the Queen's own ground?" the knight's voice rang, firm and cold.

Ahab needed to make a decision in a split second before his head got split instead.

"I need to do something fast, I can't let my first task as an Unwritten messed up in the first second…" says Ahab in his mind.

Then, Something clicked in Ahab's head and…

"WAIT! I am Elias Harth, the new fishmonger in the kingdom of Caer Lune!" shout Ahab with both hands up like a captured criminal.

"A new fishmonger of Caer Lune, is it? Hah… from foreign soil, I warrant. Might ye be a spy, then?!" she pressed, her head tilting as if to listen for treachery in the air.

The knight already had the sword out a bit and the grip on the sword handle became tighter.

Realising the change of attitude of the knight, he realised that this kingdom and any other kingdoms outside, is maybe not on good terms.

"NO, no… I was a lone wanderer before and did not have relations with another kingdom!" explained Ahab.

Ahab continued, "I was a wandering fishmonger before but I realised if I sell fish here maybe my income would get better."

The knight, who is wearing a steel dragon-like helmet with Caer Lune insignia on it, stares at Ahab for a bit longer.

"No truth draught is needed. The scent of the sea speaks plainly of your calling." said the knight

"That's kinda rude… BUT yeah…" replied Ahab.

The Knight allowed a faint pause. "Worry not… I jest only lightly."

The knight suddenly Unsheathed the sword and put both of its hands on the helmet.

The knight took off Its helm, the hollow metal whispering in the silence, and let it rest at Its side.

The weight of the moment shifts.

A cascade of long silver hair spills free, catching the light like threads of moonlight. A strip of black cloth rests over her eyes, yet when the wind stirs it, the faint glimmer of her gaze: pale, distant, and impossibly beautiful has emerged.

It is Eliza, the Blind Knight.

She is the protagonist of the story and the one that Ahab needs to have an ending.

But somehow, Ahab found himself frozen, his gaze locked on the silver knight for several long, unblinking seconds.

"I can feel yer eyes piercin' through me, fishmonger," Eliza said with a sly tilt of her head, her tone half-tease, half-challenge.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to glare at you like that." says Ahab while putting his palm on his face.

"Think naught of it, such trifles are but wind upon the waves." says Eliza.

She continued with "You are th' new fishmonger who shall bring fresh fish to th' castle, aye?"

Ahab looks around confused then gets what she is saying in the nick of time. So, he played along with it.

"OH, ME?? Yes, yes I am the new delivery guy! From now on I am the one to bring fresh fishes to the castle" reply Ahab, a little bit choked but got a hold of the conversation.

Then she continued, "Where are the fishes meant for delivery?"

Ahab is shocked and tries to make a quick decision. He can make up stories but he also needs backup evidence. Then he realised that he still had the pen and the notebook on his belt even after changing attire.

He pulled out the pen and started writing something in front of Eliza. Eliza looks confused but plays along. Her hands started to slowly grip the sword. If Ahab doesn't come with the delivery evidence, he can be assumed a foreign spy.

"Tell mee fishmonger, I assumed that thee dost not have fish." stated Eliza.

Suddenly, a glimmer of light appeared behind Ahab's leg for a few seconds then its lights were gone. Eliza felt a bit confused but Ahab turned his body around and picked up something from the ground behind its leg.

It was a wooden box filled with fresh and quality fish.

"See, I told you that I am the fishmonger that has been tasked to send fresh fish to the castle," said Ahab.

Eliza is surprised but it does not question the fish's sudden appearance at all.

"Thou art one right queer fishmonger." says Eliza while having a smile on her face.

Seeing the smile of the beautiful silver knight, Elias Alexandrianne Ahab or in this world known as Elias Harth know that he successfully did his first task towards bringing this story to its rightful ending.

Ahab continues to give Eliza the box filled with fish.

"From this day forth, each fish delivery, as hath been tasked to be sent hither, shall be receiv'd by me, the Leader of Her Majesty Queen Seraphine's Royal Knights."

"Alright, I will. But by the way, how do you know you can know me carrying a box of fishes and is staring at you earlier, since you know that you are… I don't mean in a hurtful way, just asking." asked Ahab.

"Think naught of it, It be a fair ask, it were. I have been blind since I was a wee lass. Since then, I trained th' rest o' me senses t' be sharp as a gutting knife. I can't smell too well, but me feelin' fer th' air 'n me sense o' space help me picture th' scent, the look, an' the shape o' what's standin' afore me." answered Eliza.

"Oh I understand, but it helps you to become a great lady I think." say Ahab

Eliza hears the compliment cause her heart to beat a little but she hides it. Her face shows like a distant truth that is yet to be seen. A simple compliment by Ahab made her feel something that she had never given before.

"Is there something wrong, Sir Eliza? You suddenly stop talking." asked Ahab about Eliza's sudden stop.

"Nay, 'Tis well. I will be taken mine leave sir fishmonger. Goodbye, see ya." say Eliza while turning back and walking back to the castle.

"Ok… bye…" says Ahab slowly while waving his hand goodbye, confused with the sudden farewell by Eliza.

After Eliza was gone from his sights, Moby appeared, its head a little bit peeking from the ground.

Ahab looks at Moby and started asking Moby,

"How the hell is she not suspicious of my normal language accent and how the hell can I understand her???"

"There actually is an explanation for that especially for an unwritten being like you! So every time you enter a story, your language will change its language to the respective story default language. It means Eliza hears you speak in a Caer Lune accent even if you don't hear it!" say Moby while humming.

"It sort of looks like an average Tekken character's conversation," Moby continued.

"What is that?" asked Ahab.

"You will know soon… perhaps??" says Moby.

"That's really convenient but can I request that I also hear Eliza in normal language? Because even though I understand her accent, It still felt weird when we were having a conversation…"

"Don't ask me, you're the one that has the pen." says Mobby mockingly.

"OH YEAH… I always forget that! Damn, I need to get used to this story's bending power…" says Ahab.

Moby replies, "Don't worry, you will get used to it soon!"

Ahab takes out the pen and the book and starts writing his request of making everyone in this book speak the language that Ahab spoke only when the characters are talking to him in the book. A glimmer of light shone throughout the whole place after he finished writing his request on it.

"I bet Babel will be mad with your request this time" says Moby jokingly.

"Who's that?" reply Ahab

"You didn't want to know." says Moby.
