Chapter 9 - Aftermath

Alexander got to the restaurant and stood close to Stanley and Aurora. He was looking scornfully at Stanley, like he was controlling his temper to avoid a fight in public. Stanley asked him, "May I help you?" but Alexander didn't respond. Then Stanley asked Aurora, "Do you know him?" Aurora replied, "Yeah, he used to be someone I know. Can we just forget about him and continue our conversation?" Alexander was pained and furious.

Just then, Charles walked in and held Alexander by the arm, taking him out of the place. As they went outside, Charles asked Alexander, "What's wrong with you? Don't you know you don't have rights over Aurora anymore? How could you go there and cause a scene?" Alexander got into his car, and Raymond and Charles followed him.

Instead of driving them home, Alexander drove from the club and parked in front of the restaurant facing Aurora and Stanley. He came out and sat in front of his car, looking at them. His friends followed suit and also looked at them. Raymond was pained because what he saw made him jealous. He had feelings for Aurora but couldn't express them after Alexander divorced her.

Alexander, Stanley, and Aurora chatted beautifully. Stanley even helped Aurora adjust her hair when it covered her face as she laughed. Then Stanley looked up and saw three men from their past looking at him. He asked Aurora, "Who are those men? Look at the way they're staring at us." Aurora replied, "He's my ex-husband." Stanley said, "Yeah, that's true. Caramel told me he just got divorced. Anyway, I'm not comfortable with how they're looking at us. Can we please leave?" Aurora agreed, and they stood up. Stanley paid the bill, and they left.

Stanley pointed his car towards the parking spot close to Alexander's car. As they passed Alexander's car, he held Aurora's hand, but Aurora didn't even glance at Alexander. Raymond called out to Aurora and greeted her, "Hi, Aurora, how are you doing?" Aurora waved at him with a smile and replied, "I'm good, and you? How's work?" Charles also greeted her, and Aurora responded warmly, but ignored Alexander.

Watching with pain, Alexander saw Stanley open the front seat for Aurora. As Stanley drove off, Alexander felt like he had lost something valuable in his life.

 ******

As Steven and Aurora drove home, he couldn't help but steal glances at her through the side mirror. Though he'd developed feelings for her, he wasn't ready to admit it yet, preferring to take things slow , since she just got a recent divorce. Meanwhile, Aurora felt a sense of satisfaction, having successfully maintained her composure in Alexander's presence. She'd been the one pursuing him, but now it was time for him to make amends and pursue her in returns.

Lost in thought, Aurora smiled, enjoying the cool evening air and the soft music playing in the car. Before she knew it, they'd arrived at her house. Steven snapped his fingers, bringing her back to reality. "Hey, girly, we're home," he said with a smile.

Aurora playfully teased him about driving too fast, and Steven chuckled, promising they'd make up for the short drive another time. As he opened the car door for her, Aurora thanked him for the lovely dinner and expressed her pleasure in meeting someone as kind and humble as him.

Stephen was happy that such loving words were coming from Aurora.

Their moment was interrupted by Caramel's arrival, marked by a discreet cough. Aurora jokingly asked what she was doing there so late, behind the flowers and Caramel explained she'd been waiting for over half an hour, bored out of her mind by her parents' discussions about news and business.

Caramel asked about the blind date, and Aurora replied that it had gone well. Caramel's response was knowing, because she saw how they were getting along already with so much smiles and emotions. Aurora gave her a side-eye, not wanting to indulge in excessive flattery. Steven then collected Aurora's contact information, promising to stay in touch and plan more future dates.

After Steven left, Caramel dragged Aurora to her room, eager to hear all about the date. "Tell me everything!" she exclaimed. Aurora shared her experience, mentioning that it had gone well except for one person – "the devil son." Caramel's curiosity was piqued, and she asked, "Who's the devil son"?.

Aurora took her time explaining to Caramel what had transpired between her and Alexander. She shared how Alexander approached them but she ignored him if not for his friend that took him out shamefully. How Alex had been visibly jealous and pained, even going so far as to park his car in front of the eatery just to stare at them, and how she proudly ignored him and greeted his friend. She boost of how confident she was. Caramel couldn't help but burst into laughter, thrilled to see Aurora thriving.

"Serve him right," Caramel exclaimed, giving Aurora a high-five. "He'll be pained, and I guess he won't sleep tonight. You'll make him regret what he did to you. I'm always here for you." They giggled together.

Aurora told caramel about her plan to visit Alexander's parents the next day to inform them about the divorce. Caramel supported her decision, acknowledging the importance of discussing such a critical issue in person

Meanwhile, Alexander got home and couldn't shake off his feelings after dropping his friends off. He couldn't eat or relax, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of Aurora. How she moved on immediately after signing the divorce paper, she's not even acting like a woman who just got divorced and she's already moving and flirting around with a strange man.

The more he thought about it, the more pain he felt.

He decided to visit his parents the next day to share what had happened.

Despite initiating the divorce, he was ready to let his mother and his uncle know about everything and how he's presently feeling about the whole issue.

He checked his phone and noticed missed calls from Diana but ignore them, and went to sleep.
