Chapter 145 - Prelude to Invasion - 1

(Mesogog's Lair)

In the flickering lab, Mesogog sat on a throne, his hands fiddling with metal balls. His sitting posture was arrogant, yet a small smile played on his face. This smile made his normal, grotesque face even uglier.

It can't be helped. Mesogog was a half-dinosaur; there was no way his expressions could be good.

"It seems I miscalculated. He had more potential than I initially thought." Mesogog muttered as he stared at the video on the lab screen, then added. "Although I didn't get what I needed from him, this battle report is enough."

The video did not capture the mysterious power, but it still recorded the destruction caused by the surge of strength. As time moved extremely fast at that moment, it was almost impossible to record every scene. Only the omni-base could pull that off.

"Then again, losing such a precious one is a huge total loss for me. It took me months to make that prototype." The hatred in his eyes could not be concealed.

Mesogog was someone who hated losing. Every loss with the Rangers or heroes ached his heart immensely. His dream was to lead the entire world back to the prehistoric era, so he and the rangers were always at odds. Moreover, he loses ninety-nine percent of the time against them.

How could he not hate them?

If not for being half-human, victory would have been achieved a long time ago. Human emotions were like a shackle on him. Even worse, his other self's love for his son and rationality made it even harder.

Moreover, with the existence of heroes, the dreams were destined to be immensely difficult to achieve.

"So what? One of the most precious treasures in the entire world is in my hands. With it, no one can stop me. Not even the mysterious ranger or secret protectors of this planet." Mesogog stared at the cube placed at the center of the room and couldn't help but feel a surge of confidence. Even more, there was contempt for the rangers.

He knew how powerful this blue cube before him was. He had barely scratched its surface, and it was so powerful. When he first tested it, Mesogog was beyond shocked, almost doubting his Dino eyes.

The energy of the cube was infinite, and its uses for his experiment were even more so. He was quite fortunate S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't know its true use, or else stealing it would have been impossible.

A ton of experiments were initiated after he acquired the cube, and the results were quite shocking. Although most of the specimens died due to instability or excess energy, their results were still groundbreaking.

Staring at the cube, Mesogog seemed to see his goal already accomplished, with him at the top, leading the new world and conquering the stars. Ever since he had gotten this artifact, his initial goals had changed, followed by a massive increase in ambition. He went from wanting to conquer a planet to planning galactic domination.

Mesogog knew organizations like the SPD had an intergalactic foundation in both strength and influence. He felt that if they had this power, it was not impossible for him, too. With the cube, it was only a matter of time.

But Mesogog wasn't foolish. He knew this could only be done step by step, and a sufficient foundation was also needed as a backup.

So, he wasn't in a hurry.

After a moment of silence, Mesogog got up from his throne and walked up to one side of the room. With a wave of his mental energy, the wall slid open like a door, revealing a secret chamber, known only to him.

The space was wider than any room in his lair. It had several cylindrical tubes meters tall, each filled with blue fluid containing specimens of distinct features.

Some looked like animals, others human, with most of them disfigured in many places. This place was Mesogog's secret lab, known by only him. Even his other self had no idea of this place. Every time Mesogog leaves the room, he uses a piece of special tech to wipe his other self's memory.

Although it couldn't wipe his entire memory, a little was nothing.

This was his most important chess piece, so the amount of caution was totally normal for him.

"It's time for the final phase of my plan to commence." Mesogog took a deep breath, and a smile formed on his face as he stared at his creations. "Hehehe, victory is mine. Hehehehe"

Only his mad laughter echoed in the silent lab.

...…..

"Hmm….is it finally happening?" Zayne muttered, staring intently at the images before him, then added. "Heh, took him long enough."

These images contained all of Mesogog's hidden actions throughout the month. In fact, none of Mesogog's 'secret' actions were hidden from Zayne. With the Base's power, spying on Mesogog was as easy as pie.

Mesogog was like an open book to him.

"This bastard is really insidious. Planning to ruin the entire city because of his crazy goals. He's a complete psycho." Zayne spoke with gritted teeth, unable to hide his anger.

Although Zayne was relatively calm in most situations, he couldn't do that now. It would be weird if he weren't annoyed. Mesogog's plans and actions were enough to drive a normal person mad.

The man was actually trying to devour the entire city to create a titan. A titan capable of Armageddon. The process was even more bizarre and chilling. One could not explain it with ordinary words. Even with Zayne's mental fortitude, he almost puked when he learnt about it.

"In the coming mission, he has to be destroyed first, or else the chaos that would ensue if his plans succeed would be catastrophic," Zayne muttered.

He planned to end Mesogog's reign once and for all. This must also happen before the invasion from other alien forces. He knew how insane Mesogog was in the original comic and story. This man was so cunning that he trapped Lothor, a galactic overlord, in a lab bottle.

If he was capable of that, there was no saying what he could do to the incoming forces. He might manipulate them and use their power for his benefit. He was that terrifying.

"Time to notify the team. The war is about to begin." Zayne spoke, then added. "The rest of the team is around, with only Tommy missing. But I don't have to worry about him. He promised to get back before it commences."

He had made extensive plans for this moment, from creating tech to buying gear and even training in secret. One could say he was fully equipped, maybe even over it.

The only thing that remained was to make his team stronger, which he planned to do with the new training cards.

[10 training cards]

After acquiring a large number of points during the interception mission, Zayne had bought these cards, each costing about 200,000 grid points. It was very expensive, but with his current funds, he had more than enough.

[3, 879,078 GP]

This was the number of grid points that remained after his massive shopping in the omni-shop. He even upgraded the team's weapons by a tier. Although he hasn't told them yet, they would notice it after some use.

Then.... Zayne's thoughts stalled for a moment as he remembered something.

"Oh…. It's pay day." Zayne remembered today was the day to pay his team their wages. It was very important as it was in the agreements when they all signed the recruitment form.

Moreover, this hero's job was never meant to be free anyway, and since he is the one paying them, it was even easier. A superhero shouldn't be poor.

"I'll settle the team first, then we can prepare for the world-destroying invasion."

...…..

On a vast expanse, free from trees and seas, with only sand present. A person in desert clothes could be seen walking under the scorching sun unperturbed.

This person was naturally Tommy Oliver.

The sun's light hit Tommy's face, making him involuntarily squint his eyes. His lips were dry due to dehydration as he walked with ragged breath. From time to time, he would drink a little water from the metal bottle in his hands.

Though this bottle seemed small, the inner part was massive, almost the size of a large room. As for where he got it, Zayne gave it to him. With Zayne's achievement in space tech, this was easy.

It had been five days since he had begun this journey. As for his current location, he was in one of the special deserts on earth.

His goal for coming here was only known to him and Zayne. Before this journey, they both had noticed an intense fluctuation of Morphin grid energy around this place. This energy wave was so intense that his Dino gem reacted to it.

Although most wouldn't catch it, Tommy's gem did.

After some investigation, they found out it was an egg. To be more precise, a dinosaur's egg, and it wasn't just any dinosaur. It was the Brachiosaur's egg.

After Tommy assimilated the black Dino gem energy, he knew the Zord would appear. But as for where that would be, he had no idea. If it weren't for the base's powerful radar, getting it this quickly would have been impossible.

Zayne had even proposed direct teleportation to its location, but Tommy refused. He planned to temper himself on this mission and adapt more to his new power. Although he had used the power in the space mission, it was ultimately too short a time to master it well.

He and Zayne had argued back and forth. But in the end, Tommy won. Although these five days have been grueling and dangerous due to Mesogog's frequent attacks, the pressure has made Tommy stronger than before.

"I'm almost there." Seeing the vast pyramid before him, Tommy's eyes lit up in expectation. He had been on this journey for days, and now was the time for it to end.

"Hmm…. who's that?" Tommy noticed another person, also walking to the Pyramid. It was a man, dressed in a similar desert cloth. The only difference was the hat the man wore.

The man didn't notice Tommy, as the distance between them was wide. Only Tommy could see that far because of his powerful eyesight. This was one of the perks of becoming stronger as a ranger. Your body strengthens as your ranger power grows.

"Let's find out who he is first." Tommy walked towards the man, planning to figure out his goal.

This mission was too important to him; there mustn't be any complications
