The golden light of Skypiea's eternal day broke gently through the crystalline windows of the floating castle. The air shimmered, light and warm, perfumed by the sweet scent of skyflowers drifting lazily outside. Inside the grand chamber draped in white silk and gold leaf, Ethan stirred.

His arm was tangled with Kaya's waist, her blonde hair fanned across his chest like a halo. Vivi was curled up against his side, her blue hair a vibrant splash against the sheets. Robin's head rested on his shoulder, her hand placed gently over his heart, like she was reading secrets even in his sleep.

Ethan exhaled deeply, looking up at the high ceiling, piecing together the night before—the hunger in their touches, the heated breaths, and the insatiable passion that had blurred the lines between them. It had been more than just pleasure—it was the culmination of the tension they'd shared since the start of their journey.

He smiled faintly.

Careful not to wake them, he slowly peeled himself away. Kaya murmured in her sleep, but didn't stir. Pulling on his black shirt and dark slacks, Ethan walked barefoot through the quiet halls of the castle. The soft hum of wind outside, the flutter of banners, and the distant chimes of ceremonial bells greeted him.

Something… felt different.

As he turned a corner, his eyes widened slightly.

A massive wall fresco greeted him—his own likeness carved in gold and cloudstone. Arms raised, his eyes fierce, bolts of energy crackling from his hands. He was standing over a fallen Enel, and below him, Skypieans were kneeling in prayer.

"The hell is this?" Ethan muttered, staring at the art.

There were Skypiean children placing flower offerings beneath the fresco. A woman clasped her hands together, murmuring a chant.

"O' Liberator of Thunder, Slayer of the False God, Bearer of Justice and Flame, we praise your name—Ethan, Skybreaker."

Ethan blinked. "Sky… breaker?"

He stepped back. The corridor led to a circular chamber with glass domes letting in the light. Around the chamber were eight statues—all identical, all of him, carved in sky-crystal. Each depicted a different pose: him raising a sword, casting a spell, resting on a throne.

He entered cautiously.

A group of white-robed former priests knelt at the base of the central statue. He recognized them—Enel's former elite. They had removed their thunder symbols and now bore Ethan's crest, a sigil he didn't even recognize.

"Has the Skybreaker awakened?" one whispered.

"Let us not disturb His walk among mortals," said another.

Ethan froze. His mouth twitched, halfway between disbelief and annoyance.

He backed away, trying to stay quiet—but behind him, a young Skypiean acolyte caught sight of him.

"HE'S HERE! THE SKYBREAKER WALKS!"

The priests all turned at once, dropping to their knees with absolute reverence.

"ALL PRAISE THE ONE WHO STRUCK THE LIGHTNING TYRANT!"

"Skybreaker! Our eternal protector!"

"Bestower of mercy, Master of Flame and Sky!"

Ethan raised both hands. "No, no, don't kneel—stand up. What is this?"

The high priest—an older man with a shaved head and golden tattoos—stood shakily. "Lord Ethan, we were blind under Enel's rule. You opened our eyes. You ended his tyranny not with hatred, but with honor. Your battle was divine. You... you must be the one the ancient cloud-scrolls foretold. The true god of the sky."

"I'm not a god," Ethan said, flatly.

"But you did what no one else could," the man pleaded. "Enel claimed divinity through fear. You brought salvation through strength and compassion. Even the children speak your name in reverence. We have abandoned our old religion and started anew."

"I don't need worship," Ethan said firmly. "I didn't do it for that."

"We know. And that is why you are worthy of it."

He stared at them, utterly baffled. Every instinct from his past life as a warrior told him this was bad—adoration could turn into obsession. But another part of him, deep down, felt… conflicted. Recognition, gratitude—he wasn't used to it. Not in this way.

He exhaled, rubbed the back of his neck, and muttered, "This is going to be a pain…"

Back in the castle's grand bath, the girls were lounging in the sky-heated springs. Kaya was humming softly as she ran her fingers through Vivi's hair. Robin floated with her arms stretched along the edge, her gaze on the sky above.

"Where's Ethan?" Robin asked.

"Went for a walk," Kaya said, smiling knowingly. "Maybe needed to breathe after last night."

Vivi giggled. "Or he just needed to recover. You two were merciless."

Robin chuckled. "Says the girl who nearly dragged him back in for a fourth round."

They laughed. But moments later, the doors to the bath slammed open.

Ethan marched in, barefoot, shirt unbuttoned, his face twitching in disbelief.

The girls turned, blinking.

"...You look like you saw something insane," Kaya said.

"I just found out," he said slowly, "that the people of Skypiea… have turned me into a living religion."

They stared.

Robin sat up. "A… religion?"

"They call me Skybreaker."

Vivi gasped, wide-eyed. "That's so cool!"

"No, it's not cool!" Ethan snapped. "They built statues. Made murals. They pray to me! There was a kid leaving flowers at a painting of me fighting Enel!"

Kaya blinked, then burst into laughter. "Oh my god… you're a literal god now!"

Robin leaned her chin on her palm. "Fitting. You do have a certain… divine appeal when you're serious."

Vivi joined in the laughter, eyes sparkling. "Do we get to be priestesses now?"

"I'm not joking," Ethan groaned. "They're already chanting. It's spreading across the city."

Kaya slipped out of the water and padded toward him, dripping. "So what're you going to do? Tell them to stop?"

"I don't know!" Ethan said. "They're convinced I'm some chosen one. That I'm meant to lead them."

Robin smirked. "Well, you did slay their god with style."

Vivi rose and wrapped a towel around herself. "And then you spent the night like a king in a castle, with three loyal companions. I mean… you're not exactly disproving the legend."

Ethan rubbed his temples. "This is a nightmare."

Kaya reached up and pecked his cheek. "No, sweetheart. This is your legacy."

Later that afternoon, Ethan stood on the castle balcony. Below, the entire island of Skypiea was in celebration. Banners bearing a new sigil—his face stylized in the clouds—were everywhere. Music echoed. Children wore little paper masks of him. There were chants.

"Long live the Skybreaker!"

"Hail Ethan, the True Thunder King!"

Robin joined him, holding a glass of Skywine. "You may not want the crown… but sometimes, power finds you whether you like it or not."

He glanced at her, then at the crowds. "I've led armies. Fought wars. I've been feared, hated, respected… but worshipped? Never. I don't like it."

"Then change what it means," she said. "Be the kind of figure they need, not the one they blindly follow."

He went quiet.

Behind them, Kaya and Vivi approached.

"Ethan," Kaya said softly. "Maybe this is fate."

"Or maybe," Vivi said with a grin, "the world's just finally starting to notice the man we already saw."

Ethan didn't answer.

But deep in his chest, something stirred—a silent resolve, and a new weight on his shoulders.

Not just to protect.

Not just to lead.

But to shape what came next.

Because gods rise in the sky…

But only heroes keep their feet on the ground.
