We did it! Again! We made it to the end of volume two! I wonder if people are still reading after what I did to Olivia?
Ah, I'm sure it'll be fine. Anyway! Let's talk about the future. Of course, we have Volume Three, which I am currently working on. I have it mostly planned out, and by the time you've read this, I'm likely done with my notes and will be writing the first chapter. As always, if you want to read anything early, feel free to check out my Patreon. All support helps!
Before Volume Three starts, we will be getting several side story chapters. I am excited to continue the adventures of Davi, Olivia, Sieg, and Ken, who will all be getting a new side story chapter, as well as four brand new ones, which will also be coming out weekly. So, eight chapters in total.
I also plan to release a bonus chapter alongside a few of them, which will bring back some old characters and go more in-depth into the magic system for those who are interested.
Now, besides that, with the release of this chapter, I will also be taking a few days off to collect my thoughts and chill! Volume two was very long and took a while to finish, but I am glad that I did.
I'd also like to bring up my newest novel, Backup Hero, which should be dropping in a few weeks!
Let's get into Volume Two and actually go over it now. Just like when I finished Volume One, I want to go over what it was like writing it and the changes. For the most part, a lot actually went the way I wanted. I knew we'd have a fight with the Demon, and I knew Davi would be getting his white cloak, as well as the fact that Olivia would end up with the Ebony Knight and Storymaker. I also knew that Ken would officially join the romance, making it a threesome!
That said, I do think perhaps I could have given a few more characters more things to do. I didn't really get to focus on several of the guildmates as much as I wanted. I'll likely go more in-depth with several of them in volume three and have big plans for Clause, Ragna, and Vlad especially.
I also have some HUGE plans for Olivia and her arc. Volume two was more or less focused on Davi, while one focused on Olivia. For three, I plan to give Ken and Sieg some extra attention and focus back on Olivia.
Now, for things I didn't plan! I kept flip-flopping whenever Davi got the cloak. Some of my drafts had him get it in the fight with Adam, others had him get it in the battle with High/Himvel, and some had him get it from the demon. Neptune/Rage wasn't actually going to be in this arc at all either, and instead we would have gotten the Lord of Threads, but I changed my mind at the last second. As you can tell, I settled on Davi getting the cloak in the battle with Neptune.
Laerton's core mask was also something I didn't plan to bring out early either, but it felt good, and I wanted to show the train. A fun fact: I really like Honkai Star Rail, and the train is basically the Astral Express since I am a shameless thief.
Another big change was the ending. In my early drafts, I actually wanted volume two to be happy. The demon would have come out, but no one would have died, and they'd beat it through the power of friendship, and Davi would seal it.
Thankfully, I made the right call and brutally maimed and crippled several of my characters and killed a few of them bastards off. I'm such a good writer.
I always knew I wanted to go to the moon and had plans for it to be done in volume three, but decided to shift that back and make that part of the ending of volume two. I also decided to have Olivia arrested at the last second and throw her under the bus, where she belongs.
For the most part, this final arc was the only one that changed so much. There were a few little ones scattered throughout the start, but I honestly can't recall any huge changes I made.
Still, despite all of that, I think I'm happy with how things turned out. I am also happy for all the comments I got and everyone who made it this far and kept supporting me.
I look forward to writing more and seeing where this story will go. We've taken so many steps, and we've come so far. I'm happy.
Until next time.
Thanks for reading.
