Chapter 17 - Chapter 16 "The Roar That Breaks Chains"

The druid priest had located a ruin, but he knew he couldn't explore it alone. He didn't want to inform his superiors—he might even earn a few credits, but that was insignificant to him. His ambition was greater: this was his chance to level up and make his dream of becoming a higher being a reality.

After days of deliberation, the druid priest decided to summon old rivals, greedy and accustomed to working together. He called the white priest from the Protestant Church of the Goddess and the black priest from the Church of Darkness. Among them, the white priest was a medium being at the peak, just like him, while the black priest was the only superior being in the group.

To explore the ruin, we expect at least two higher beings. Luckily, I heard rumors that Miss Red Dragon would be in the south. They made a tacit agreement: after the exploration, they would get rid of her and keep her treasures. After all, Miss Red Dragon was famous for her greed and the amount of riches she carried.

The Three Dads and Miss Red Dragon came to a formal agreement, signing a mid-level contract. They would explore the ruin together, dividing the treasures equally at the end, with priority given to the higher beings—Miss Red Dragon and black priest.

The exploration went well, despite some hazards that caused levels of damage. Miss Red Dragon and black priest, the strongest, led, while the white priest and druid supported. They left the ruins safe and very rich.

Red 's fame Was Dragon still missing the title of thief? When it came time to divide, she used some tricks and took everything for herself. The pile of treasures included elemental crystals, spiritual crystals, scrolls of arrays and magic circles, potions, and a fragmented sword.

The white priest, ever cautious, left a ruby on the pile. Engraved on it was a long-distance teleportation array—a precious treasure for his church, but one he did not hesitate to use. With a large quantity of elemental crystals, they activated the array and teleported to where Miss Red was. Dragon . And that's how we get to the present moment.

— Why don't you guys go back the way you came? Even without my brother here, I would be more than enough to finish off the three of you.

The three did not believe Felicia's words, but they avoided a battle that could involve Fernando. Dealing with a superior being was already risky; facing two serial suicides.

— I didn't want to use this here, but I have no alternative.

The black priest spoke with a crazed look in his eyes.

Suddenly, a black orb appeared in his hand. The orb pulsed ominously, like a dark heart.

Badanp . Badanp . Badanp .

Felicia's impassive expression changed. She didn't know what that orb was, she just felt danger. Trying to use her sonar to sense the black orb, she saw an invisible barrier blocking her perception .

—Miss Red Dragon, you forced me to act.

Without hesitation, Felicia stretched out her hand and a sword emerged from her storage ring. Her aura quickly flashed with earth elemental energy, enveloping her body. She charged at the black priest with all her speed.

Crack... Crack...

As she prepared to strike, the black priest crushed the orb in his hand. Felicia stopped the attack and retreated.

A black mist emerged from the orb, rapidly expanding to cover an area of 20 kilometers. The mist condensed into a barrier that trapped them within. Felicia, the white priest, and the druid priest stared at the barrier.

— This barrier isolates the outside world. It is one of the secret trump cards of my Church of Darkness. Now we don't need to worry about Fernando. Nothing from the outside can penetrate here, not even the sonar of a higher being.

The black priest spoke confidently. The other priests rejoiced—now they could kill Felicia and escape with the treasures before Fernando realized anything. They just had to be quick.

With their trump cards ready, the three priests were sure: Miss Red Dragon would die without a shadow of a doubt. Until a laugh cut through the silence, taking them out of their reverie.

— Hahahahahaha !— You fools think you can trap me with that bubble? I, Miss Red Dragon, will send you into the warm arms of the goddess.

Felicia channeled the elemental energy of the earth into her sword and fired a sharp beam towards the priests. The power was so intense that the air around her trembled. The white priest and the druid priest quickly hid behind the black priest—that attack had the power to kill them instantly.

The black priest felt the intensity of the blow. He knew he could not underestimate it. He drew a sword in his right hand and a staff in his left, enveloping his body with energy from the element of darkness. He crossed his weapons to block the beam.

Boom!

The deafening sound of the collision made the black priest retreat, almost falling from the air. The three priests did not expect such power. But he did not give in.

They formed an attack formation: the white priest and the druid provided support behind the black priest, the only superior being capable of exchanging blows with Felicia. The two average beings on the peak stood no chance against her fury.

The white priest and the druid each took up their staffs and began chanting incantations in the ancient Baboan tongue . Felicia, impatient, did not wait for them to finish. She flew off again, her sword glowing a brownish-yellow.

Boom! Boom !

The black priest stepped between Felicia and the others, their weapons clashing with her sword in midair.

With each blow, he retreated. Felicia delivered precise and fierce attacks, and he could barely contain her advance. His hands trembled with effort, and the last blow threw him meters back.

The black priest concentrated all his power into the staff. The core in his dantian region spun faster and faster, absorbing spiritual energy that was converted into dark elements. The staff radiated a dense black mist.

With a firm gesture, he swung his staff and shot a sharp beam, a cutting black light towards Felicia. She didn't try to dodge. Instead, she channeled elemental power into her sword and counterattacked.

Boom!

The two forces collided violently. Felicia was thrown to the ground, creating a deep crater. The black priest smiled radiantly, convinced of victory.

But the dust settled—and to his amazement, Felicia stood up, unharmed, without a single injury.

—How is that possible? — he murmured in disbelief.

Even with an attack that exceeded 10% of his strength, he hadn't even managed to scratch her.

Felicia shot back into the air, planting herself firmly in front of the black priest. She shook her robes disdainfully and said, with cutting irony:

— You got my clothes dirty.

The black priest shuddered, gathered his companions and ordered:

— Now... launch your attacks.

The white priest and the druid priest had already finished their incantations. The white priest cast his spell first:

— Suppressing light chains!

Chains of holy light flew toward Felicia. She slashed downward with her sword imbued with elemental power, cutting the chains in half.

The white priest gestured with his staff, and the pieces came together again to attack her.

Slice! Slice! Slice! Slice!

Felicia fired a series of sword beams, fragmenting the chains into several pieces. The white priest spat out blood, his eyes closed for a moment, and began to pray:

— Mother God, Goddess of Light, Creator Goddess, grant strength to your most faithful son.

The chains, which had been sliced apart, began to emit a blinding glow. The white priest's staff emitted an intense light that reverberated in tune with the energy of the chains. As if they had a life of their own, they flew quickly and wrapped themselves around Felicia's neck, arms, and legs.

Five pieces of chains dangled in the air, tightly bound to her limbs. She tried to break them with sheer brute force, but to no avail. She tried to summon her elemental power, but the chains held, impenetrable.

"You can give up trying to break these chains," the white priest warned with a cold smile. "Even if you become ten times stronger, you won't be able to break through. This is a spell that can only be broken with my death."

Felicia looked at the white priest, a silent invitation in her eyes.

— So, all I can do is kill you, right? — he retorted , his tone full of defiance.

She tried to mobilize her elemental power, but the energy core in her dantian refused to convert spiritual energy into elements. She tried to draw on water, her natural element, but it was useless.

— Hahahahahahahahahaha ! — laughed the druid priest, satisfied. — These chains suppress the ability to use elemental powers. You, elemental warrior, are doomed.

Not wanting to be left behind, the druid priest pulled out an ancient scroll, spat out blood, and a green light began to radiate from the scroll.

Hard... Roar... Roar...

Three roars echoed as, from within the parchment, emerged three mutant bears—razor-sharp claws, metallic black-gold fur, and hungry red eyes, devoid of any intelligence.

The chains pulled Felicia to the ground with force, causing her to create another deep crater. The three bears took the upper position.

Now, the battle took another turn: four superior beings and two average peak beings facing a single superior being, who was completely prevented from using his elemental power.

The bears attacked without mercy, claws tearing through the air towards Felicia. She jumped back with an agile leap, still bound by the chains, but without losing her composure.

The elemental force was blocked, but his raw strength, fueled by the racial traits of a superior warrior, was still a fearsome weapon.

Boom!

The sharp claw of one of the bears collided with Felicia's sword, emitting a metallic sound that reverberated across the battlefield. The second bear, enraged, roared ferociously and charged forward with its claws open. But Felicia's metallic tail, which had been attached to her waist the entire time, unfolded like a hinged blade and blocked the monster's attack. Sparks flew from the friction, and a metallic clang echoed.

Wasting no time, Felicia leapt backward, spinning with acrobatic grace in the air. With a fluid motion, she extended her left hand, and a second sword materialized from her space ring.

She charged at all three bears simultaneously.

Deafening roars.

The bears advanced with sharp claws, ready to crush their opponent.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Two swords clashed fiercely against the claws of two mutant bears, while the third met Felicia's metallic tail, which measured just over a meter. The shockwave reverberated across the ground, which began to crack with each powerful impact.

The three priests, perched in the air, watched in amazement. Felicia was not the weak target they had expected. Even without elemental power, her brute strength was monstrous, and her agility and speed made her virtually untouchable by the fierce attacks of the mutant bears.

— Very well... let's end this quickly — Felicia murmured, feeling time slipping away. — You've already stolen too much of my time.

She knew she had greater responsibilities—to take care of her nephew, to protect the city of Novo Redondo. Even if nothing directly threatened his safety, her duty could not wait.

Felicia stepped back about ten meters, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, filling her lungs with the air around her. Her eyes, deep and black as night, opened with renewed intensity. Her muscles inflated, like balloons being blown to the max.

She held her breath, and when she released it, her hands holding the swords became even firmer and more determined.

The bears, unaware of the warrior's preparation, roared ferociously and advanced with red eyes bloodshot with fury.

But Felicia wasn't joking around.

With a devastating momentum, she shot forward like a cannonball. The ground beneath her feet split into deep cracks.

For her, time seemed to freeze.

For the bears, the warrior simply disappeared from sight.

And then, with lightning speed, Felicia reappeared—behind them.

After a second that seemed like an eternity to the three priests, the heads of two bears fell to the ground with clean and precise cuts. Blood spurted violently as soon as the heads touched the ground. The three opponents, open-mouthed, exchanged incredulous looks — what insane speed was that?

The third bear, furious, roared and charged at Felicia, but his head was ripped off so quickly and imperceptibly that he did not even have time to react, falling to the ground, dead. The priests could hardly believe it: Felicia remained motionless in the same position, as if it were impossible that she could have delivered such a fatal blow.

— Very well, now it's your turn — said Felicia with a calm face, as if the three priests were mere stones in the path, ants that she would crush with contempt at any moment.

Now they understood that the title of Miss Red Dragon was not given for nothing. In her kingdom and in neighboring kingdoms, she was feared and respected. Many believed that the title was due only to the intense red of her robes and a supposed greed of a dragon from legends, but only her enemies knew that her greed was supported by overwhelming power.

When Miss Red Dragon steals a treasure, the best thing you can do is get out alive.

And the three priests? They wanted Miss Red Dragon returned a treasure. They were signing his death warrant.

—You old priests dare to covet my treasures? Prepare to pay adequate compensation... or to die.

For the first time, Felicia released her killing intent without disguise.

The two average priests on the peak were trembling with fear; the black priest, despite being firmer, also felt the weight of that enormous force, without understanding the brutal discrepancy between them.

The druid priest did not want to give up the treasures, convinced that Felicia, unable to use her elemental power, was only pretending to be too strong.

"A suppressive chain won't last forever. What do we do?" the white priest asked , his voice thick with fear. He was only an average peak being; a single blow from Felicia, a higher being, would mean his instant death. If he gave up the treasure, he would guarantee his own life—and so he was inclined to retreat.

Red 's devastating power Dragon at first hand, also preferred to abandon the fight. He had already suffered a lot when using that magical barrier and did not want to lose his life in that confrontation.

But before the white and black priests could make any decision, the druid priest roared and took the lead in the attack.

His eyes turned a deep, savage green. He raised his head to the sky, roaring furiously as the spiritual core in his dantian region rotated at an insane speed, as if it would explode at any moment.

The other two priests—surprised by the druid's initiative—hesitated only for a moment. Then, their cores also began to spin, furiously pulling energy from the depths of their souls.

The black priest's eyes turned as black as liquid pitch, opaque and without reflection. The white priest's eyes, in turn, shone a blinding white, enveloped in an aura of holiness that made the air hum.

— Roar!

— Roar!

— Roar!

The three of them roared to the sky at the same time, and the world seemed to tremble. It was the call to their Soul Creatures.

Beside the black priest, a colossal skeleton appeared, each bone radiating the power of death and decay. The creature walked heavily , as if it were a living tombstone.

The white priest summoned a gigantic dove, pure and radiant, made entirely of sacred energy. Its wings fluttered with a heavenly sound, but its gaze was merciless.

The druid priest raised his hand and summoned an ancient crocodile, green and immense, with eyes of ages and fangs that looked like trees. The vital power that emanated from it made the surrounding vegetation sprout by instinct.

The three creatures—one tangible, two formed of pure soul—did not hesitate. United by their spiritual bond, they charged forward with a synchronized attack, unleashing a blast of soul energy that cut through the air like a cannon of destruction.

Boom!

The attack collided directly with Felicia's two swords. The impact was brutal. The ground exploded in a wave of absolute destruction, as if dozens of kilograms of explosive had detonated beneath her feet.

Dust rose into the sky. Trees were uprooted, rocks were pulverized. The world was silent for a moment.

The three priests used their spiritual senses to try to find signs of life amidst the thick cloud. Nothing.

But when the dust began to settle... there she was.

Felicia stood in the center of the crater, her chest heaving with difficulty. She gasped for breath, and then spat out a thick mouthful of blood. Her clothes were torn, and her body trembled slightly—not from fear, but from pent-up rage.

Even joining forces in an all-out attack, the three priests only managed to make Miss Red Dragon spitting blood. That was all they had achieved.

A crater dozens of meters wide now separated them. The nearest trees had been reduced to splinters. And in the center of that chaos, Felicia opened her eyes, burning with contained fury.

— You... will die here and now.

Felicia's eyes turned red like rubies soaked in blood. An overwhelming pressure fell upon the three priests. Even their Soul Creatures wavered, hesitant. The world seemed to stand still for a moment—as if space itself were on trial.

What roared in Miss Red 's body Dragon now... was n't just power. It was authority.

A tyrannical soul force, superior to the three souls combined, erupted from Felicia's body. The chains that suppressed her began to tremble.

Crack.

Crack.

Shrapnel!

The chains could not hold. One after another , they broke into pieces under the force released. And then, emerging as if torn from the bowels of the earth, a colossal dragon appeared behind Felicia.

ROAR!

The earth dragon's roar shook the nearby mountains. The priests' Soul Creatures instinctively retreated—the visceral fear etched into the bones of any being lesser than a dragon.

Felicia didn't scream. She didn't threaten.

She just said:

- To kill.

ROAR!

The dragon charged forward brutally. A jet of scorching fire shot out from its mouth, the temperature rising violently. The air burned. The space around it distorted as if it were about to collapse.

The three creatures—the skeleton, the sacred dove, and the ancient crocodile—launched their attacks desperately.

Boom!

The shock was brutal... but useless. The dragon's fire engulfed everything. The creatures' screams were drowned out by the roar of flames that seemed to have been pulled from hell. Their forms began to crumble, one after another, until nothing was left but ethereal ash.

The fire did not stop. It continued in a straight line, relentless, straight at the three priests.

The black priest and the white priest managed to escape, flying in opposite directions with their last bit of strength. But the druid priest... was not so lucky.

He was consumed in the center of hell. No body was left. Only dust.

Meanwhile, the other two priests fell to the ground, writhing. The pain of their spirit creatures being destroyed was like having their own souls burned alive. Blood gushed from their mouths. The terror in their eyes was uncontrollable.

ROAR!

The dragon was still standing, preparing for a second attack.

But then, Felicia frowned.

With a subtle gesture, she raised her hand. The dragon turned its eyes to her and, in an instant, directed its fire against the magical barrier in the place. The magical shield, which had previously withstood everything, shattered like glass against a hammer.

The creature roared once more before turning into light and returning to Felicia's body, merging with her soul. It then leapt into the sky like a flash of red lightning... and disappeared.

The two priests lie protected on the ground. Bleeding, shaking, not understanding why the woman who could have crushed them like insects... had spared their lives.

But no one questions the will of a dragon and survivor to tell the story.

They both thanked their gods, summoned their last strength, and fled with everything they had — each faster than the other.

★★★

In the city of Novo Redondo, a red ray crossed the skies, cutting through the favelas like a bolt of lightning.

Felicia.

A moment before, she had felt her spiritual mark disappearing from her nephew's body. This terrified her.

The barrier erected by the priests only prevented entry—not exit. If the mark was being erased, there were only two possibilities: Either a higher being was gently cleansing its energy... Or his nephew's life force was fading away.

The anguish tomorrow tells her. Something was wrong. Very wrong.

And then, like a flash of lightning, she appeared before John.

He looked like a pear.

And so far, everything has been revealed.
