Chapter 338 - When the Strongest Takes Interest

"Huh!?"

Rimuru froze, shock written plainly across her face.

She hadn't expected that. Not even a little.

Before she could react, Emiya Shirou stepped forward. He smiled, relaxed and natural, as if this was the most reasonable outcome.

"Perfect," he said. "I was thinking the same. I've wanted to spar with Milim-dono for a while now."

"Oh?"

Milim tilted her head, eyes sliding from Emiya Shirou to Rimuru, then back again. She studied him carefully this time, unhurried.

"...You're stronger than her," she said bluntly. "Between the two of you."

A grin spread across her face.

"Fighting you sounds way more fun."

Her tongue flicked out as she licked her lips, eyes burning with excitement. She loved challengers. Especially ones bold enough to stand in front of her willingly.

"In that case," Emiya Shirou said, lifting the longsword in his hand and swinging it lightly to the side, "we'll fight here."

His voice carried backward.

"Everyone, step back. This fight will affect the surroundings. Make sure you're clear."

"Yes, Lord Emiya!"

Rimuru retreated with Benimaru and the others, calling out as she went.

"Good luck, Shirou!"

"Don't worry about me," Emiya Shirou replied.

His grip tightened around the hilt.

His expression shifted.

Calm. Focused.

He watched Milim closely.

She was one of the strongest existences in this world. One of the absolute ceilings. Against her, there was no room for optimism, no room for chance.

Every movement had to be deliberate.

Every strike had to be solid.

He could not afford even a moment of carelessness.

"Father, please use my power."

Little Rimuru's voice sounded in his mind.

At the same time, he felt a familiar flow of magic from behind him. Emiya Shirou reached out instinctively, grasping it as it arrived.

A crimson bow manifested in his hand.

"Little Rimuru," he said softly, "I've received it."

The divine bow hummed gently, as if responding.

He smiled and slung it across his back.

This was different from the projected bow he had used before. This was the real one.

Rimuru's Bow.

With it, he could temporarily access some of the abilities inherited from Rimuru's existence as a newly born spiritual being. Abilities derived from the power known as Great Sage.

Thought Acceleration. A thousandfold increase in perception speed.

Analyze and Assess. Appraisal and analysis of targets.

Parallel Processing. The ability to separate and process multiple streams of thought.

Chant Annulment. The removal of chanting requirements for skills and magic.

These abilities were not intrinsic to the bow as a divine weapon. They were powers Rimuru herself had inherited and shared.

Cheat-like.

Undeniably effective.

"Oh, what's that!?"

Milim's eyes locked onto the bow on Emiya Shirou's back, then shifted to the divine sword resting beside Rimuru. Her expression lit up instantly.

"A weapon with life? And even a body? That's way too cool!"

Her envy was obvious.

"I want one too!"

"Even if you want one," Emiya Shirou replied honestly, "I can't make weapons like these anymore. Their birth was... special."

"You made them?"

Milim looked him up and down, interest deepening.

"Hah. I want to ask about that later. But right now-"

Her jealousy twisted into excitement.

"It's time to fight!"

She vanished.

One moment she stood where she was.

The next, she was right in front of him.

"You're seriously annoying," she said cheerfully, throwing a punch. "Take this!"

The strike was aimed straight at his chest.

But to Emiya Shirou, the motion was clear.

Thought acceleration flared.

He brought his longsword up instantly, placing it in front of his chest.

The impact hit him like a tidal wave.

Power exploded outward.

His feet dug into the earth, the ground tearing apart beneath him as he was pushed back relentlessly. The pressure didn't stop until his body carved two long trenches through the ground, each stretching nearly ten meters.

Only then did he come to a halt.

"So strong..."

Pain throbbed through his hands.

Despite her appearance, Milim's physical strength was overwhelming. That single punch was more than enough to make the difference painfully clear.

"You're tough," Milim said, grinning.

"I yield, I yield," Emiya Shirou muttered as he stepped out of the trench, shaking his hands once.

But his eyes were sharp.

He'd already decided.

He couldn't just endure her attacks.

If he did, he would lose.

Without hesitation.

He twisted the sword in his grip and charged forward.

"Taking the initiative?" Milim laughed. "Interesting."

She watched the blade swing toward her, casually wondering if she should hold back a little.

Then-

A chill shot straight up her spine.

From her back to her brain.

Pure instinct screamed danger.

Killing intent.

Her body reacted before thought.

Milim vanished again, reappearing dozens of meters away in an instant.

She stopped, eyes narrowing.

"That sword..."

Her thoughts raced.

"Can it hurt me?"

"Is it fatal?"

"A curse?"

"Defense ignoring?"

Countless possibilities surged through her mind.

Years of combat experience warned her clearly.

"So that's it," she muttered. "No wonder he's confident."

Attack power that exceeded his own level.

A weapon that could threaten anyone.

"That's your trump card, huh?"

She laughed.

"As long as I don't get hit, it's fine!"

Her battle spirit flared arrogantly.

She hadn't felt this kind of excitement in a long time.

"Let's have some real fun!"

Magic power erupted around her.

She accelerated again, crossing the distance in an instant.

To Emiya Shirou, she was too fast.

"This is suppression through raw stats," he thought. "Strength, speed, endurance, agility, magic power... I lose in all of it."

His body burned as he poured magic into reinforcing himself, forcing his physical form to keep up.

"When was the last time I fought someone like this?"

This was real combat.

He swung the sword toward her head.

Milim had already anticipated it.

Her right hand intercepted the blade's path.

The moment they made contact, her eyes widened.

"...Defense-piercing?"

The magic coating her body offered no resistance at all.

Before the blade could land fully, Milim twisted her body sharply, forcing the strike to miss once again.

"So that's how it works," Emiya Shirou realized.

He had a chance against anyone.

But against someone this overwhelmingly strong, that chance was vanishingly small.

If he couldn't keep up physically, landing a hit was nearly impossible.

And those who stood at the top of the world had survived countless battles. Their bodies remembered how to deal with every kind of enemy.

Against them, half-finished attacks meant nothing.

"But don't think that's everything I have."

He switched weapons.

Sword vanished.

Bow appeared.

He drew it taut, aiming skyward at Milim.

"Let's see how you handle this," he said clearly.

"Unlimited swords-Unlimited Blade Works!"

The world began to shift.
