Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Asher Being Followed

After hearing Kay's answer, Asher set off that noon. However, he only told Kay and Sir Ector, and without saying goodbye to Artoria, he quietly left the small island.

Asher was really not daring to explain to Artoria. These past two days, because he had refused her request, her attitude towards him had taken a sharp turn. The usual sparring would still continue, but it was much more serious than usual, really exhausting Asher.

After all, although he could compete with Artoria, once it turned into a prolonged battle, he would immediately be at a disadvantage.

Asher stood under a big tree near the wilderness, looking at the distant castle.

The castle was surrounded by walls and moats. The city walls revealed solid and thick foundations, and several large bridges stood here. Under the bridges were tributaries of a large river. The overall view was very magnificent.

However, in the Land of Shadows, Asher had long been accustomed to such scenes, so he wasn't surprised at all and stepped forward.

Faint thunder, overcast sky.

Before long, it began to rain. The rain mixed with a somewhat cold wind blew over. The wide-brimmed hat on Asher's head was slightly lifted, and the bangs on his forehead also lifted a bit, revealing his dark eyes.

He was wearing a black cloak at this time, making it impossible to see his face clearly. As he stepped forward, Rune magic was activated in an instant. His foot stepped forward, and his whole body leaped high, landing on the city wall.

His gaze swept around, and finally, Asher locked onto a certain direction. His eyesight was very good. Even though the rain now caused the entire castle to be vaguely shrouded in a hazy mist, Asher still noticed that the population in that direction was very sparse. If he wasn't mistaken, that was Morgan's residence.

At this time, many pedestrians were walking back and forth in the city, and the streets were very crowded, but this didn't affect Asher's walking speed at all.

After all, he wasn't walking on the ground, but leaping forward from the rooftops against the rain, heading towards Morgan's residence, so he naturally wouldn't feel crowded.

And while Asher was still jumping forward, behind him, another person wearing a white hood was secretly following him. The white wide-brimmed hat covered most of her face, but when she leaped, a strand of golden hair could still be seen, as well as a pair of bright sapphire eyes beneath her hair.

After learning that Asher was unwilling to take her to find her Big Sister, Artoria made her own decision and secretly followed Asher.

Originally, if Asher hadn't appeared, she probably wouldn't have encountered Morgan again no matter what. But Asher's words had stirred up her past memories. No matter what, she wanted to come and take a look.

Just take a look, she didn't necessarily have to talk to Morgan le Fay, just a distant look would be fine.

Maybe doing so was meaningless, but at least it could prove that she had also done something for their relationship, even if it was just self-deception.

Continuing to secretly follow behind Asher, Artoria suddenly thought of a very strange thing.

Why was Asher so determined to see her Big Sister? Was it really just to express his gratitude?

While thinking, she continued to track Asher.

But at this moment, Asher suddenly stopped and turned his head to look somewhere. "Who is it?"

Artoria's body stiffened slightly, hiding behind a certain rooftop, not daring to come out.

"Who is it?" Asher asked again.

While continuing to rush towards Morgan le Fay's residence, he had sensed something was wrong.

Asher had spent many years training under Scáthach. Sometimes when he went to the wilderness for training with Scáthach, Uathach would always secretly follow. Over time, he had developed the ability to counter-track.

And now, he felt that someone was secretly watching him, so he suddenly turned his head to look.

Of course, there was no figure behind him.

But Asher still didn't give up. He said calmly, "Come out quickly, I know you're hiding there."

"I also know who you are," he added.

Artoria slowly walked out from behind a certain rooftop, took off the wide-brimmed hat in the rain, and looked up at Asher. "How did you find out?"

Asher smiled naturally. "Just a guess."

But he was secretly startled in his heart.

Artoria had actually followed him?!

If Kay and Sir Ector found out, wouldn't I be beaten to death?

Honestly, Asher hadn't been certain that someone was tracking him just now. He had just tried to scare them a little, but he hadn't expected to actually trick this silly Saber out.

It could only be said that the fourteen-year-old Artoria was still a bit too young and had fallen for Asher's trick.

"I want to go find Big Sister too." Having been discovered by Asher, Artoria didn't plan to keep going in circles with him and directly expressed her thoughts.

"What do you want from her?" Asher asked.

"..." Artoria was silent for a moment, not knowing how to answer for a while.

She hadn't thought about this question. She had just been touched by Asher's words and suddenly wanted to see her. As for the purpose, she herself didn't know.

"If there's nothing wrong, what's the point of you coming to find Big Sister Morgan?" Asher earnestly persuaded. "Big Sister Morgan has a very strange temper. What if she has a moment of madness and locks you up as a figure? Have you thought about this?"

"Figure...?" Artoria tilted her head slightly, a look of confusion on her face.

"Uh... simply put, it's like imprisoning you or something," Asher said.

"Do you also think Big Sister is a bad person?" Artoria frowned slightly.

"I don't think your Big Sister is a bad person, but I also don't think she's a good person," Asher said. "I'm only coming to find her because I have something to do. She probably won't have any thoughts about me, but you're different. What if she has a moment of madness and does something to you?"

"I will be responsible for myself," Artoria said without the slightest concession, her gaze firmly fixed on Asher.

Asher thought to himself, Then who will be responsible for me? If your foster brother and foster father find out that I brought you to Morgan's side and she secretly locked you up to do bad things, my head would probably be chopped off.

Thinking this, Asher still didn't say these words, just shook his head again.

Just as he was about to refuse again, but as he raised his head and looked at the determination in Artoria's eyes, Asher swallowed the words of persuasion he was about to say.

"Then be careful. Leave immediately if anything happens," Asher had no choice but to say.

He could only compromise in the current situation. If he left Artoria alone or refused her, she might go to find Morgan by herself. In that case, they might as well travel together.

Besides, they had already arrived at this place. If it was that woman, she probably would have noticed them as soon as they entered the city, right?

Asher raised his head, looking towards the direction where Morgan le Fay was.

After all, the current Morgan was not just Morgan, but also the Goddess of Death. With her power, casting a prophecy spell would be more than easy.

"What are you looking at?" Artoria's voice came from beside him.

"Your Big Sister's direction," Asher said.

"My Big Sister's direction is on the left. You're looking at the right," Artoria reminded him.

Asher paused, then scratched his head.

This was a bit embarrassing.
