Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Turns Out, Even Dragons Are Afraid

The black dragon spread its wings, the wind shaking the surrounding leaves and causing them to rustle and fall. A terrifying light flowed in its golden vertical pupils, making one involuntarily want to submit at its feet.

"It's coming!" Sensing the pressure approaching from behind, Asher couldn't help but cry out.

"It's okay, don't worry, Big Sister will definitely take you away!" Uathach held Asher tightly, stomping forcefully on the ground. Her whole body leaped high like a cannonball, shooting towards the depths of the forest.

Although she said so, Uathach herself wasn't sure. Her biggest regret at this moment was bringing Asher into this forest. She had confirmed the black dragon's injuries at the time, and logically it shouldn't have returned so quickly. But unexpectedly, the black dragon appeared here in less than half a day.

No matter what, she had to take Asher out.

Uathach secretly made up her mind, her purple hair flying in the wind as she moved swiftly through the forest, as agile as an elf.

But even so, the black dragon still closely pursued them, its massive body crashing through and destroying many trees. Yet, even with such resistance, it chased so closely—enough to imagine just how ferocious this giant dragon was.

What to do... what should she do?

Asher's eyes stared intently at the black dragon behind them. He tried his best to calm down and secretly thought of ways to break out of the predicament.

Just then, he suddenly noticed a crow perched on a large tree. That crow stared at them, its pair of red eyes eerily bright.

But this shouldn't be the case, because when the black dragon descended, most of the flying insects and beasts in the forest had fled, yet this crow showed no intention of fleeing... Sure enough, this wasn't an ordinary crow.

A thoughtful expression appeared on Asher's face.

If his guess was correct, it should be Morgan le Fay, who had transformed into a crow and was watching the show from the big tree.

Roar!

Another roar came from behind, and a violent wind surged. The black dragon was obviously completely enraged. It flapped its wings and flew high into the sky, looking for a suitable position to deliver a fatal blow.

Asher's pupils contracted. An image suddenly flashed through his mind—four seconds later, they would be swallowed whole by the giant dragon.

"Big Sister, retreat!" Asher shouted.

Uathach hesitated for a moment, wanting to retreat, but such hesitation in battle was extremely fatal. The black dragon's giant wings tore through the trees in the forest, and it opened its huge mouth, biting down on the two of them.

Asher gritted his teeth, not having time to think carefully. He pushed Uathach away, and at the same time, the black dragon bit down on Asher, who was falling straight towards the ground.

Uathach's pupils contracted. She secretly regretted it. If she had known this would happen, she shouldn't have let Asher accompany her to steal the dragon's essence blood. That represented the essence of the black dragon clan. It would be strange if it didn't desperately fight them.

Uathach reached out her hand, making a gesture as if to grab Asher, but it was too late. She could only watch helplessly as Asher fell towards the ground, while the increasingly frantic black dragon opened its mouth to bite him.

But at this moment, Uathach suddenly heard the sound of crows cawing in her ears. Countless crows appeared in front of the black dragon, densely packed. Asher, who had been falling straight to the ground, suddenly disappeared from her sight.

Uathach rubbed her eyes, stunned as she confirmed that Asher had suddenly vanished.

What was happening?

"Big Sister, leave quickly!" Her shoulder was suddenly gently patted. Uathach was slightly taken aback and saw Asher when she turned her head.

Although she really wanted to ask Asher what had happened, Uathach knew very well that the top priority now was to leave this place. So she nodded and continued running towards the forest exit with Asher. As she left, she couldn't help but glance again at the black dragon, which was tightly entangled by a group of crows, her eyes even more confused.

Only when they left the forest exit did Uathach breathe a sigh of relief and turn to look at Asher.

"Was that the goddess of death's doing just now? Why would she help us?"

After calming down, she had also guessed the other party's identity.

"Who knows..." Asher replied somewhat guiltily.

If it were normal, Uathach would probably have noticed Asher's reaction was a bit off, but having just been chased by the black dragon, she didn't have time to think too much. Grabbing Asher's hand, she said, "Forget it, let's take this opportunity to escape into the Land of Shadows. That way, we'll be safe."

While running towards the Land of Shadows, Asher thought to himself: Sister Morgan should be okay, right?

He couldn't help but look back at the direction of the forest entrance, only to find Morgan le Fay standing at the forest exit at some point. Her golden hair under the golden crown swayed in the wind, her long dress fluttered, and she was also looking at him. Her mouth slightly opened, as if saying something.

Asher understood her meaning through her lip movements: See you tomorrow.

Clearly, she had also seen that Asher was worried about her and was now telling him not to worry too much.

He stopped thinking too much and followed Uathach into the Land of Shadows.

The reason Asher had risked his life to save Uathach just now was because he was certain Morgan wouldn't leave him to fend for himself. Her appearance there, while partly for watching the show, was probably also to ensure his safety... However, the goddess's thoughts were hard to fathom, and Asher had only taken a gamble.

As it turned out, he had won his bet.

Morgan le Fay looked into the distance, watching Asher leave, then quietly transformed into a crow and flew away from the forest.

Having finally broken free from those annoying crows, the black dragon saw that Asher and Uathach had already run far away. It roared angrily, spread its giant wings and pounced towards the two, but it was too late. It could only watch Asher and Uathach escape into the Land of Shadows.

The black dragon hovered in the sky above the Land of Shadows, but never dared to approach even half a step. Its golden eyes scanned the skull above the castle, a deep sense of fear in its pupils.

Among these skulls, one was a dragon-serpent, a ferocious creature no weaker than a giant dragon, but now hung high above the castle, placed there as part of some mysterious ritual.

Not just this dragon-serpent, but every skull hanging above the seven castles had once been a terrifying creature dominating its region. But they were facing the queen of the Land of Shadows. She had slaughtered countless dragons, among all kinds of strange creatures and giants. Too few dared to provoke her. Perhaps only the legendary Vortigern, with Britain's boost, could compete with her.

But leaving like this made the black dragon feel extremely unwilling. It hovered and roared above the Land of Shadows, causing unease among the residents, who looked anxiously at the giant dragon.

At this moment, a purple-haired woman wearing a purple bodysuit walked to the top of the castle, coldly staring at the black dragon in mid-air.

Scáthach.

The violent wind stirred up by the giant dragon blew Scáthach's purple hair high, but she didn't waver in the slightest. Her red eyes burned with a fierce fire, like a Valkyrie.

Just as the dragon was about to roar again, its brilliant golden vertical pupils suddenly contracted, sensing the astonishing pressure emanating from the seemingly tiny woman before it.

The black dragon quickly retreated, staring at Scáthach with fear. After a moment of gazing, seeing Scáthach slowly take out her weapon and make a motion as if to throw it, the black dragon flapped its wings and left on the spot.

Scáthach simply watched the black dragon leave without pursuing it, then put away her weapon.

This was a red spear, known as the Spear of Impaling Barbs, its true name Gáe Bolg. It was a terrifying weapon that, once it caused even a tiny wound, would cause 30 backward-curving barbs to split out within the enemy's body. After sensing the terrifying aura within that spear, the black dragon finally gave up its revenge.

...

"That scared me to death. That was really close this time," Asher watched the black dragon fly away from the Land of Shadows, finally breathing a sigh of relief.

"It's okay, Big Sister said she would protect you properly," Uathach said with a smile. "This time's harvest is very big."

"You're right," Asher said, taking out the bottle from his pocket. The bottle contained the golden dragon's essence blood.

"Alright, let's go back to the room first and put the dragon's essence blood into the magic cauldron," Uathach said.

Asher nodded. As soon as he turned around, he felt a familiar aura. He raised his head and subconsciously called out the name of the woman before him.

"Shishou..."

Uathach's shoulders trembled slightly. She slowly turned her head, looked at Scáthach's stern face, and weakly called out, "Mother."

"You two, come to the main hall to see me."

Scáthach's voice was cold and hard. After speaking, she turned and disappeared from their sight.

Asher and Uathach looked at each other. Without a doubt, Scáthach was really angry this time.
