Chapter 8 - Good Deeds

Later that day, the two returned to Jet's house, located in a reputable neighborhood. Fortunately, and unfortunately, her clothes were not that badly fitted on Sunny, and were mostly black in color. After washing, they both went to eat some food they had ordered, and he ate a lot.

While they were still processing dinner, Jet was the first to say something.

"You know, if you eat that much every day I'm going to have to think about charging you for your time here in the future."

"Hey, technically I'm still in the growing phase, but rest assured, the next time Effie needs a place to stay I'll be there for you." She quickly changed her mind when she thought about the possibility.

"Fair enough, but I know you know your way around the kitchen, so I expect some good feasts in the upcoming weeks. Changing the subject, when are you going to meet with Cassie and Nephis?"

"Same as the last time, in the academy. Cassie still has more time to enjoy without losing her vision, and after that it is safer for her to stay at the academy. As for Nephis, it would be impossible to get in touch with her, the great clans must have people watching the immortal flame mansion at all times of the day, and any connection with a government agent like you would raise a lot of suspicion."

"Yeah, you're right, guess it'll just be the two of us for a while then"

The two remained at the table for a few more seconds, until Sunny got up and took the dishes to the sink.

"Of everything I've ever done in my life, two lives even, being an ordinary teenager washing dishes is one of the most unusual things I could ever think of doing."

Jet decided to stay in the kitchen to keep him company while he washed .

"Sure is, but it doesn't seem to suit you"

"Why not? And I still have reason to believe that part of the reason I come back is to be able to enjoy moments like these in truth."

"I know, I know, but still, the clearest memories I have are of a creepy kid becoming an SSA and beating my ascension record by 5 years, not to mention what you did in Antarctica, although you don't even remember it properly."

"Indeed, but actually, I always wanted to be able to live that way, and the blurry part of my memory makes me think that it actually became something quite important to me, so you can be thankful that you got a roommate who cooks as well as I do."

"Oh, please, don't put the horse before the cart, you living here is much more of an act of charity on my part than us being roommates."

"Ouch, when you think everything is going well..." He was already drying his hands at this point.

"But about this house, where is the training area?"

"So you've already started thinking about killing, haven't you?

"Shouldn't I? But not necessarily about killing, I ended up getting involved in a certain problem at a school near your work."

"School near the government building? You don't mean the White Dove one, do you? Sunny, that school is one of the best in the area. Do you know how many legacies there must be?"

"I think their instructor said that was the real name, but so what? They're just a bunch of spoiled brats, I'm going to be doing a good deed by beating up those kids, don't be a killjoy."

"Calm down, I wouldn't want to stop you even in 100 years, I just want to be able to watch, oh, just imagining their faces is already making my day better." As they talked, she guided them to a staircase that went down to the training area of her house, the place was very reminiscent of Sunny's old house, but there were some boxes and packages with government symbols in one of the corners, probably gifts that she had received but never found any use for.

Each of them moved to one end of the reinforced mat, Sunny had picked up one of the training swords that were on the weapon stand, Jet had her hands free.

"Are you sure about this?" Jet was clearly apprehensive about being Sunny's dueling partner, but he had insisted that he needed to be aware of what his body was like currently.

When he moved, she was perplexed, It was as if an old man had thrown a ball for the dog to fetch. He aimed a horizontal blow at her, the place where the sword blade should have been quickly crashed into the master's left arm, and both her arm and the weapon were intact, the force was so little that there was not even a risk of the training sword breaking against the ascended one's powerful body.

The two remained still for a second, until she lightly kicked Sunny's shin, he immediately fell to the ground and put his hand to the wound.

"Crap! Oh, gods, this was a terrible idea!"

He remained on the floor complaining in pain as Jet headed for the stairs.

"I hope this was a good answer, I'm going to bed, good luck with that disaster of a body!"

As she climbed the stairs, she could still hear the grunts of pain coming from underground.
