In other words, once the defense lines were abandoned, there would be no way to reconstruct them. And if they retreated, it would be the same as opening a passage for the Abyssal Army. Countless abyssal creatures could charge straight through and penetrate deep into the heart of the continent.
However, if they didn't retreat, then the Western Corps would have to face the direct impact of the Blood River God-Slaying Formation. Such an impact would undoubtedly bring catastrophic consequences.
"We can't retreat. If we do, I'll become a criminal to the Federation," Dong Zian muttered painfully as he closed his eyes.
"As soldiers, even if we die, we must die on the battlefield! Transmit my order: resist with all your might. There are so many of our brothers holding the front lines—do they want us to fall now?"
"Yes, sir!"
Celestial Abyss Rend!
The Abyssal Sage Sovereign smiled faintly. A divine weapon descended through the shattered stars and landed in his hand.
His body turned translucent, like a rising violet flame made of candle wax.
"Did you know? Even within this universe, I—can shift the heavens!"
Buzz—!
Gu You was flung across space, slammed into a meteor, his body seared into it.
His dragon transformation had ended, and he entered a period of weakness.
Though he was no longer human, sustaining the dragon form wasn't easy.
After all, he wasn't born with it—it was acquired.
In the depths of the cosmic abyss, the once red sun turned violet.
And across the Douluo Continent, the night sky transformed into a ghostly purple hue.
The entire world was stunned.
All of this had happened in under a minute.
"Haha! Haha!" Gu You suddenly burst into wild laughter.
"What are you laughing at?" the Abyssal Sage Sovereign asked with a raised brow.
"I'm laughing… because I've bought just enough time!"
Gu You's eyes flashed with intensity. A terrifying nine-colored tribulation appeared overhead, and behind him, his seventh divine ring was beginning to take form.
"Impossible! A tribulation? You're ascending to that level?!"
"No! I'm already at that level! It's just that this damn thing never wanted me to succeed!" Gu You sneered coldly.
At that moment, the starry sky suddenly tore open with a massive rift. A colossal hammer of heaven and earth emerged, smashing downward.
"You finally came. I've waited so long for this day." Gu You laughed as the multicolored lightning struck him, producing only metallic clangs on impact.
"Another god? No—wait! You're the Plane Lord of Douluo… I didn't expect you to be hiding so deep. But you want to kill this brat? How amusing."
"What right has a foreign hybrid to speak here?" A disheveled Tang Hao stepped out of the void, eyes fixed on Gu You.
"The power within you… I've known it. Even if I risk the backlash of the plane, I should destroy you."
"Foreign hybrid?! Hah, let's see who the real hybrid is!"
The Abyssal Sage Sovereign roared. He had discerned that Tang Hao was only a Second-Class God, only reaching near First-Class strength due to the power of the plane backing him.
Celestial Abyss Rend! A terrifying violet slash surged forward like abyssal fire, striking toward Tang Hao.
Tang Hao merely snorted. A hammer appeared in his hand, crackling with lightning.
A massive hammer phantom emerged behind him, swinging down with tremendous force, clashing with the Celestial Abyss Rend.
Then—suddenly—a streak of destructive violet energy exploded in front of Tang Hao.
And in the next moment, waves of radiant light erupted across the cosmic sky.
A battle of First-Class Gods had begun.
"You dare ignore this Sovereign?! I'll show you!" the Abyssal Sage Sovereign roared, joining the clash of the two gods.
"Does heaven no longer protect the Douluo Plane…?"
Under the violet night, the light looked eerily dreadful.
Chen Xinjie gave a bitter smile—then, in that moment, a surge of spiritual will surged into his mind.
In the eyes of the Hanhai Douluo, a glimmer of brilliance emerged.
The two God-Slaying Fixed-Mount Soul Cannon Shells were fully prepared. Launch-ready!
…
Learning that the two God-Slaying Shells were ready for launch, Yu Guanzhi finally let out a breath of relief, though his face remained tense as he looked at the eerily glowing world.
"North Division Corps, North Division Corps—retreat! Retreat! The God-Slaying Shells will detonate in thirty minutes!"
"Damn it, finally!" Dong Zian roared.
"Retreat!" As the soul broadcast went out, every soldier of the northern corps heard the salvation in that voice.
The entire Northern Corps began a full-scale retreat!
…
"The Federation forces are retreating," the Nether Emperor muttered, clenching his fists.
"Just a bunch of cowards," the Bee Empress laughed softly.
But something didn't feel right…
A sense of unease crept into the Nether Emperor's heart.
Was the Federation really retreating so easily?
"This… this is the power of the Abyssal Sage Sovereign!" one of the Abyssal Emperors exclaimed.
They had long noticed the entire Douluo Plane had changed color.
"It seems the Sovereign's battle won't end anytime soon," the Spirit Empress frowned. As the second-ranked being in the Abyss, she could clearly feel the fluctuations from their lord's energy and the abyssal plane itself. The situation on their side… seemed difficult.
…
Time ticked by. At this moment, every Federation soldier, every respected soul master across the continent, was focused on that countdown.
Their hearts were heavy.
"Three… two… one—detonate!"
With Yu Guanzhi's final shout, the sky suddenly became unbearably hot.
In the next instant, it was as if the entire heavens had turned to blazing light. Two dazzling white beams—pure, flawless—turned the entire world into a sea of white.
Within the Blood River God-Slaying Formation, Black Empress had been flying at the very front. Suddenly, an indescribable pressure descended upon her senses. Without hesitation, she abandoned her flight completely. Her once-speeding body fell like a stone toward the ground.
Faced with such fatal danger, anyone would instinctively abandon all defense. Black Empress was no exception—nor were the other Abyssal Emperors.
This terrifying strike came far too fast.
At that moment, the gaze of every human commander was locked onto the sky—onto the blazing white radiance that lit up the entire night.
Every one of them clenched their fists, breath held in anxious silence, waiting—praying—for this moment.
Victory or defeat… all rested on this!
There was nothing more terrifying than this.
The ultimate devastation had arrived—finally!
