Chapter 319 - Chapter 319: Tempering by Thunder, the Rebirth of a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast

"He's still staying with me for now. When the time is right, I'll let him go to you. But let me be clear—no matter what happens in the future, he's one of my Blood God Battalion."

Zhang Huanyun curled his lips in response.

Back in his military dorm, Gu You sat cross-legged with his Golden Dragon Spear in hand, entering meditation.

Suddenly, a jolt shook his consciousness.

'What's going on?'

His awareness began to merge into the spiritual world, and Gu You could tell—something monumental was unfolding in his mind.

What he didn't know was that outside, the skies had begun to darken with rolling thunderclouds, each one locking onto the area where he resided.

"What's happening, Titan?" Gu You looked at the massive creature before him. Even though he knew Titan Snow Demon King had another name, calling him Titan just felt more fitting and dominant.

"A soul beast is undergoing its tribulation to break through a hundred thousand years," Titan Snow Demon King glanced at him.

'A hundred-thousand-year tribulation!'

Gu You was stunned. He knew the soul beasts in his spiritual world could continue to cultivate, but this was too fast!

He already had a good idea of who was crossing the tribulation. Ji Ji Ba—the cocky little guy—had reached the dream of a soul beast's lifetime in under ten years. That was just…

'Something feels wrong though.'

This was his spiritual world. He should have absolute control over it. So why was there a thunder tribulation?

In his understanding, soul beasts in his domain should have no restrictions—invincible even.

'Could it be…'

Gu You furrowed his brows.

"Titan, I'll leave this place to you."

"Understood, my great soul master."

"Thunderclouds? What the hell? Someone in our camp is transcending a tribulation?"

"Which fellow Daoist is ascending here?"

"Wait, humans can undergo tribulations? I've never heard of that."

"Clearly you're ignorant. It's heaven's jealousy of the exceptional."

"The kid's broken through heaven."

"There's a soul beast attempting a hundred-thousand-year breakthrough," Zhang Huanyun looked toward the dark clouds in disbelief.

"Seal the news," said Wu Qing Douluo calmly, "It's that Gu You kid again. He's got a lot of secrets. Luckily the dorm we assigned him is in a secluded area. Have the nearby soldiers evacuate."

"You're not even surprised? What do you know about him?"

Wu Qing Douluo shook his head. "It's a Federation-level secret. I found out by accident."

"By accident?" Zhang Huanyun chuckled.

"Boom—!" The lightning clouds in the sky twisted with black radiance, dark thunder slowly condensing before lashing down in a furious arc.

Gu You's eyes sharpened. He didn't conceal his cultivation at all—seven soul rings rose beneath his feet. Six blood energy rings shimmered alongside.

"Clang—!" The black lightning struck, infused with absolute law-like power. But even such fearsome energy only gave off a sound like striking metal when it hit Gu You.

He looked up at the sky, sneering.

"Perfect timing to temper the body."

With the Eternal Dragon Core reinforcing him, his soul power at Rank 79 was already on the verge of a breakthrough. This tribulation was just the refinement he needed to prepare for unlocking the third seal of the Purple-Gold Dragon Emperor upon reaching Rank 80.

As for his eighth soul ring, he had decided not to use Titan Snow Demon King again. He would go with a mythical beast ring instead.

The soul beasts in his spiritual world were effectively his soul spirits. He could choose freely.

An orange soul ring could provide up to four soul skills—a well-known fact and a rule of soul spirits.

But it didn't necessarily mean one had to occupy all four slots. If one wished, those four ring positions could be reduced to three.

Ordinary soul masters wouldn't even dream of obtaining a single orange ring—let alone adjusting it like that.

'Only someone like me would consider such a thing.'

The lightning clouds in the sky became increasingly violent, as if enraged by Gu You's mocking smile.

Gu You didn't know how many lightning strikes he had endured. He only knew the final blow from the clouds—imbued with a terrifying, pure darkness attribute—turned into a blinding beam and blasted downward.

But it was blocked—by his own divine skill, Radiance of the Purple-Gold.

One day later.

"You really believe Gu You can change the course of our conflict with the Abyssal Plane?" Zhang Huanyun sipped his tea.

Wu Qing Douluo smiled faintly.

"Why not? He at least gives us hope. That Golden Dragon Spear of his is far more important than you realize. And his talent? Unparalleled. Reaching Limit Douluo is just a matter of time."

Zhang Huanyun narrowed his eyes. "Then what's your plan?"

"Until he's strong enough, we keep him hidden. The Abyssal Plane has already noticed the effect of the Golden Dragon Spear. Even the Charm Empress was willing to personally act. If we let him continue fighting now, and the Abyss sends all it has, we might not be able to protect him."

"I've sent him to participate in the Star Dou Battle Network's Federal Challenge. Let him sharpen himself there. When he becomes powerful enough to stand alone, that's when we launch our full offensive. I want to see what happens when he pierces one of the Abyssal One Hundred and Eight Emperors with that spear."

"The Emperors are the core pillars of the Abyss. I don't know how many need to fall for the plane to collapse or for the gateway to sever. But I'm certain—if several of them die, the Abyss will have to think twice before invading again."

"Our biggest problem facing the Abyssal Plane is that we can't truly wear them down. Otherwise, after thousands of years of Blood God Army battles, how could we still be struggling?"

Zhang Huanyun's gaze flickered. "I get it. You're hoping that kid can use his weapon to take out the Emperors, maybe even destroy some of the 108 Abyssal levels, and sever the Abyss channel."

"Exactly," Wu Qing Douluo nodded solemnly.

"Then our shared hope might soon be within reach…"

The next day, Gu You rushed into the Star Dou cabin and connected to the battle network.

It was mech battle day again.

He arrived at the arena and logged in.

Selected: melee mech. Weapon: spear.

"Spear!"

He entered the battle stage.

On the opposite side, a flash of light revealed his opponent—also a melee mech.

This one wasn't using a soul cannon. Instead, it wielded a massive polearm-style greatsword, even longer than Gu You's spear. The blade itself was five meters long and over two meters wide—immense and brutal in appearance.

"Three, two, one—battle begin." The electronic voice boomed as Gu You's next match commenced.
