Gu You was now directly under the command of the Blood God Battalion, so the Corps would no longer be handling his rank promotions.
This...
Gu You glanced at Long Yuxue.
Long Yuxue gave a bitter smile.
"That's the rule. I can't help you with that. Also, don't call me 'ma'am' anymore. The Blood God Battalion holds an extraordinary status within the Corps. Even though you're just an auxiliary member right now, you're no longer someone we can compare to. It also means you'll carry far more responsibility than we do in the future."
"You can just call me by name. Go ask around at the Blood God Battalion. You should get your answer. As an auxiliary member, you're already exempt from many of the usual regulations."
"Oh, alright then."
As Gu You walked away, the light in Long Yuxue's eyes turned more complicated.
'When will I be able to become even just an auxiliary member of the Blood God Battalion?'
Arriving at the Blood God Battalion's base, Gu You used the rose-patterned Blood God Ring on his wrist to activate the elevator and returned to the familiar main hall.
But when he got there, he found himself stunned. The hall was empty. Not a single soul in sight.
And he had no idea how to find the other Blood Gods.
Now what?
Wait.
Gu You simply sat down in the center of the hall.
'Eventually someone will come. I'll just wait.'
He didn't know how long had passed before he sensed a spiritual touch that pulled him out of meditation.
"A new guy? Why are you meditating here?"
A young man in uniform with stars on his shoulders looked at Gu You with curiosity.
He looked to be in his twenties, handsome, smiling, and seemed easy to approach.
But from the stars on his shoulders, Gu You immediately realized—this was one of the Blood Gods. Every Blood God held the rank of major general or higher. Blood One, for example, was a full admiral.
Gu You immediately stood up and saluted.
"Sir!"
"Mm-hmm. No need to be so formal. What's your situation?"
"I… I'm an auxiliary member of the Blood God Battalion. I just joined and wanted to find Blood One. Comrade, can you help me?"
The young man nodded in realization.
"Ah, I see. If you want to contact us, just use your Blood God Ring to send a message. I'll show you how. Oh, right—I'm Blood Nine."
Blood Nine?
So this was the one he hadn't met before.
Gu You now knew the backgrounds of the Blood Gods—Blood Three and Blood Five came from Shrek Academy; Blood One and Blood Six from the Tang Sect; Blood Two, Blood Eight, and Blood Nine were from the War God Temple; Blood Four and Blood Seven from the Spirit Pagoda.
Three of the nine were from the War God Temple—the highest representation among the Four Great Sects. Still, if you counted Blood One as the current Hall Master of the Tang Sect's Douluo Hall—and effectively the Tang Sect Master—then in overall strength, the Tang Sect still reigned supreme.
"Thanks."
Gu You finally understood the difference between his rose-patterned Blood God Ring and a standard one. It had a special communication system that could contact any of the nine Blood Gods—and they could contact him.
As an auxiliary member, he couldn't message them directly, but he could leave a message for them and wait for a response.
Following Blood Nine's instructions, Gu You sent a message to Blood One, asking what he should do next—and about his military rank.
The reply came quickly.
"You're assigned to the Blood God Battalion. Wait for me there."
"Old man's coming here to meet you? Nice! I'll stick around and say hi too," Blood Nine said with a grin.
Something about this Blood Nine always felt a little strange to Gu You.
Blood Nine kept smiling and watching him.
At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and Blood One stepped out.
Blood Nine raised his eyebrows.
"Old man, you went again?"
"Mm," Blood One nodded. "They retreated too quickly. I had to check. There wasn't much damage. We fought a few skirmishes, but it seems like they weren't plotting anything—they were just spooked."
Blood Nine blinked.
"Spooked by who?"
Blood One gave a meaningful smile and pointed at Gu You.
Blood Nine looked shocked.
"By him? Seriously?"
Blood One chuckled.
"I'll explain later. Gu You, I've made arrangements for you. You'll be assigned a task."
"This mission will require you to be fully prepared for combat. Get your state stabilized."
"Yes, sir!"
Blood Nine frowned.
"The Tide is over. What mission?"
Blood One smiled faintly.
"You forget the Federation's latest tech?"
Blood Nine suddenly understood.
"You're putting him in that?"
"Mm. Only here can we do it safely—without risking exposure. Gu You, head back for now. I'll contact you through your Blood God Ring. We need a few days to prep for the mission. It'll begin within three days."
"Wait, Commander Blood One—I still need to update my military rank," Gu You quickly added.
Blood One laughed.
"How many merit points?"
"Over twenty thousand."
Blood One raised his brows in surprise, then laughed again.
"Not bad. You earned over twenty thousand from just one battle? Looks like the amount of abyssal energy you devoured really was substantial. No wonder the old beasts noticed you. I bet they were assessing your threat level, which is probably why the Abyssal Tide ended so abruptly."
"Twenty thousand is enough for a promotion to captain. But don't rush."
"Here's the deal—complete this mission successfully, and I'll approve a direct promotion to major. You can upgrade straight through."
"Understood!" Gu You responded, though he couldn't help feeling disappointed.
He'd hoped that with so much merit, he'd already qualify for major. But apparently, it only got him to captain.

Spirit Pagoda Headquarters
"The Federation's newly developed tech is about to officially launch. We're not just participating—we must place high."
Qiangu Dongfeng sat at the head of the meeting table, his voice solemn.
Sitting next to him was Heavenly Phoenix Douluo, Leng Yaozhu. On the other side was a middle-aged man. Nearly all present were high-ranking members of the Spirit Pagoda.
"This new tech developed by the Federation is revolutionary. The propulsion systems are already mature—it's just been in testing. Leng Yaozhu, have you chosen your candidate? Still haven't found your disciple?"
Heavenly Phoenix Douluo, Leng Yaozhu, replied calmly.
"I've chosen. I've contacted my other disciple—she's in good condition. She'll participate."
Qiangu Dongfeng nodded in satisfaction.
"This matter is critical. It directly affects our influence going forward. In the new Federal Parliament, we already hold a quarter of the seats—directly or indirectly. That gives us tremendous leverage for the Spirit Pagoda's future development."
Leng Yaozhu shot him a glance but said nothing.
She was, after all, one of the leaders of the Spirit...
