"So after connecting to our plane, the Abyss has been constantly trying to invade, expanding its overall energy in the process."
"In a sense, you can think of the Abyss Plane as a single organism—a living entity. The abyssal creatures are merely its cells. When a cell dies, the energy is recycled to create a new one. That's the most terrifying thing about abyssal beings. We can defeat them, even kill their strong ones, but we can't truly destroy them. The Abyssal Demon Lord and the Charm Sovereign who attacked you today are both high-tier abyssal monarchs from the final thirty-six layers. Due to the seal on the Abyssal Passage, they can only project a portion of their power here. Otherwise, Xue Ba wouldn't have stood a chance."
"Right now, only monarchs from the first thirty-six layers can descend through the passage. With me present, even those levels of monarchs don't dare come easily. Dying once is still dying, and even if they eventually recover, the process is extremely slow."
"Each time I enter the Abyss Plane, it's to kill more abyssal powerhouses—to buy us more time. Thankfully, six thousand years ago, a human powerhouse completed the seal. Otherwise, if the monarchs from the final thirty-six layers were to descend, it would mean utter destruction for us. Human soul tech is advanced, but not advanced enough to go toe-to-toe with them—at least not yet."
"If they had enough life energy, would they stop invading?"
Gu You asked suddenly, a bold idea beginning to take shape in his mind.
Borrow the power of the Abyss... to kill Tang Hao!
"Impossible," Wuqing Douluo answered. "Unless they had infinite life force to draw from, their invasions would never stop. Their species needs to reproduce. And reproduction requires life energy. Your thought is feasible in theory, but charm—true charm—has never been an easily obtainable power in this universe. If life energy were truly infinite, the wars between races across the cosmos would likely decrease greatly."
"Why only decrease?"
Staring into Gu You's eyes, Wuqing Douluo replied with firm conviction.
"Because the universe is a massive slaughterhouse. The strong dominate everything. They become gods and enjoy the resources of the cosmos. They possess boundless life energy..."
Gu You didn't ask any more.
But he was still unwilling to give up. The idea of controlling a plane was simply too tempting.
Still, he latched onto one truth—if he became strong enough, even the Abyss would bow.
"I've been thinking," Wuqing Douluo continued. "If you could use your Golden Dragon Spear to slay some of the One Hundred and Eight Abyssal Monarchs, you might completely destroy their energy signatures. Prevent them from reviving."
"From what I know, each layer of the Abyss is centered around its monarch. If the monarch truly dies, it could cause that entire layer to collapse. All abyssal creatures within it would disintegrate and vanish. If that's the case, then maybe—just maybe—we could truly erase the Abyss Plane as a threat."
"But the prerequisite is that you must become strong enough. The bottom eighteen monarchs are stronger than I am. They've already noticed you. If you enter the Abyss Plane, they will likely target you instantly and relentlessly until you're dead. That's why I can't let you take that risk yet. On this side of the passage, the seal still offers protection—I can keep you safe. But once you step into their world, I can no longer guarantee anything."
A faint smile appeared on Wuqing Douluo's face.
"Which means the burden on your shoulders may become even heavier. If one day, you can reach the level of a Limit Douluo—at least enough to defend yourself—I hope you'll join me in entering the Abyss Plane. Together, we can attempt to slay the monarchs and eliminate this crisis from the continent once and for all."
He added,
"With your current strength, you're still far from ready. But in you, I see hope for the future. If you one day reach my level, then with the Golden Dragon Spear in hand, there's a real chance you could kill some of the monarchs—or at the very least, intimidate them enough to stop them from ever touching the Abyssal Passage again."
"I understand."
Gu You nodded respectfully.
"And that white aura lingering on you—don't worry about it. That's just the Charm Sovereign's residual mark from when she wounded you. It helps her track you more easily, but it won't cause any harm. Unfortunately, I can't remove it."
"Alright."
When Gu You left the Blood God Battalion, he was wearing a new Blood God Ring. Compared to the previous one, the new ring featured a fresh ring of crimson rose patterns. Each rose stem was covered in sharp thorns.
It was a symbol of the Blood God Battalion. From that moment on, Gu You was officially recognized as an auxiliary member of the Battalion.
However, he was also instructed that from now on, he could not enter the Abyssal Passage again without Blood One's approval.
Perhaps Gu You's appearance had caught the Abyss Plane off guard. Though the energy he absorbed wasn't a large amount, it was energy that didn't return. As a result, the duration of the Abyssal Tide this time was shorter than usual—only seven days before it came to a complete halt. No stronger abyssal creatures appeared, either.
Gu You did not return to the battlefield. Instead, he took advantage of the pause to enter seclusion. The purpose was to fully digest the gains from acquiring his Dragon Core—and to stabilize it.
The Eternity, which had once been the size of a fingernail, had now grown to the size of a longan fruit. It radiated a brilliant, multicolored glow. With every breath Gu You took, it stirred the bloodline energy within him. That meant—even without cultivating actively—his body would continue to nourish itself as if it were.
During seclusion, Gu You also discovered that the emergence of Eternity had triggered a mysterious transformation in his body. It was as if he had awakened to a deeper awareness. With every breath, he unconsciously absorbed spiritual energy from the world around him.
It was like he had become a container—constantly inhaling and refining the purest energy of heaven and earth, discarding the waste, and merging the essence into himself.
Just as a soul master possessed a Soul Core, his Dragon Core had pushed his physique into a completely new realm. Even simple breathing seemed enough to sustain his daily physical needs.
In addition, the third seal of his Purple-Gold Dragon Emperor bloodline had begun to show signs of breaking.
Logically, this shouldn't happen until...
