"Just now, what happened to you? And why did your amplification only last that long? Didn't you say it could keep going for much longer?" Jiang Wuyue fired off several questions in a row.
Gu You gave a wry smile. "Something went wrong with my body. I suddenly ran out of strength, so I couldn't maintain it."
"That spear was beautiful! I didn't think you could even injure the Black Empress. It's a shame you couldn't finish her off. Otherwise, you'd have made a huge contribution."
"That Black Empress was strange."
"Mhm." Jiang Wuyue nodded. "Strange, yes, but let me tell you—she doesn't even rank among the top of the Black Empress lineage. These creatures thrive on being strange. She may be beautiful, but her methods are too ruthless. Don't show any sympathy. These creatures don't deserve it—unless they voluntarily give up their desire to consume the Douluo Plane and seek peace. Their most terrifying aspect is their growth potential. Among the Abyssal Kings, one entire branch is made up of Black Empresses—and it's the strongest one. The first time abyssal creatures descended, the Emperor of that time was from the Black Empress lineage. The one you saw today hasn't even fully taken on human form yet. A truly terrifying Black Empress looks no different from a human on the outside. They can infiltrate us using countless means. In the past, they brought great disasters upon our Blood God Legion. It was only after we developed detection protocols and better scanning devices that we managed to kill a few of them and discourage further infiltration."
"Among all abyssal creatures that can pass through the narrow abyss passage now, the Black Empresses are the most powerful. The Enchantress lineage can also produce Kings, but they've always served the Black Empresses. They're the Black Empresses' strongest allies, but still vassals. Since the Black Empress has appeared, the Enchantresses will probably show up too. This war just got harder."
Just as Jiang Wuyue finished speaking, a figure flew over from the rear. Clad in silver armor, wings spread wide, a silver halo glowing beneath his feet.
This was the true domain of a mecha—a three-word battle armor master!
Reinforcements had finally arrived.
The figure wore a mask, concealing his face, but the aura he exuded was undoubtedly that of a powerhouse.
"If you're exhausted, head back to camp and recover. The Special Operations Division isn't required to participate in direct combat anyway. Don't worry—although you didn't kill the Black Empress, your contribution has been recorded. Blocking the breach, repelling the Black Empress, and preventing casualties—on behalf of First Battalion, thank you."
Gu You smiled. "Sir, it was my duty. I'm still in fighting condition. Let me keep going. I want to fight on the front lines."
Jiang Wuyue laughed heartily. "Good man. From today, you're my brother." He lowered his voice and added, "As long as you don't try to steal Rain Snow from me. On the battlefield, we're brothers. Off it, we're enemies if you do."
"You…" Gu You was speechless.
Jiang Wuyue laughed again. "If you're heading up front, let's go together. With a Blood God present to keep things in check, I don't need to command much. Let's move."
"How does one earn the title of Blood God?" Gu You asked curiously.
Jiang Wuyue gave him a strange look. "You shouldn't worry about that yet. There are currently nine Blood Gods in the Legion. All of them are Title Douluo and three-word battle armor masters. Add the commander, two deputy commanders, and two division leaders—fourteen Title Douluo-level three-word armor masters in total. You'd have to beat one to get the title."
Fourteen three-word armor masters—an astonishing force on the entire Douluo Plane.
Gu You coughed lightly and changed the subject. "Do all Black Empresses look like young human girls?"
Jiang Wuyue's look turned even weirder. "You're not wrong. Most of the Black Empresses we've found have been female. Maybe those abyssal creatures think we humans are more vulnerable to this appearance."
Jiang Wuyue and Gu You charged toward the front lines. The soldiers ahead instinctively parted, opening a path for them.
With a roar, Jiang Wuyue's body rapidly enlarged and charged in. His combat style was violently overbearing—two-word battle armor attached, fists his main weapons. One charge sent a Ba'an flying.
Gu You followed closely behind, activating his martial soul avatar and two-word armor. He was a whirlwind of destruction, devouring small abyssal creatures in a single gulp. His aura of destruction sent weaker creatures fleeing in terror back to their abyssal nest.
All eyes turned to the sky, where a massive thousand-meter-long purple dragon hovered.
Even most Title Douluo couldn't compare to this level of power.
This was his martial soul avatar!
Martial soul avatar!
"Rain Snow Dragon…" Jiang Wuyue was dumbstruck.
'That... that's massive.'
This was the first time they'd seen a martial soul avatar of such size.
Under the bombardment from behind, most abyssal creatures reaching the melee line were already wounded. The ordinary ones were nearly gone—only the tougher ones remained.
Two Ba'an charged at Jiang Wuyue but suddenly froze. Their momentum faltered. Two shield walls smashed into them, halting their advance.
Jiang Wuyue's figure blurred. Twin hammers appeared in his hands and swung down violently.
One Ba'an was sent flying instantly, the other swallowed whole by Gu You.
Jiang Wuyue gave a thumbs up to the massive dragon overhead.
"Tastes good?"
The question stunned Gu You. "Sweet and delicious."
He let out two roars in response.
Even the Blood God hovering in the air turned his gaze toward the colossal purple dragon on the battlefield.
"With power like that, it must be him."
Roar!
A deafening bellow came from the abyssal passageway. A gray-white current surged forth, blocking incoming ranged attacks. A beam of gray-white light shot out, aimed directly at Gu You.
'What is that?'
Gu You's consciousness froze. He saw it clearly—a finger emerging from the massive abyssal tunnel.
A finger over ten meters in diameter, its tip capped with a translucent white nail. Despite its size, the finger had a strangely slender elegance.
'The aura of an Ultimate Douluo!'
In that instant, the finger was already in front of him.
Just then, a streak of silver light descended from the sky. A blinding radiance slashed down like creation itself!
A colossal blade of light, ten meters wide, struck the massive fingernail.
A deafening boom followed.
