Kishio had already cancelled his death aura after killing off the bugs.
From this game, he had already acquired two new skills.
The death aura, which was still wither but as an AOE skill although less effective than wither as wither was more concentrated, it still proved effective for large scale battles, and the other skill, necromancy.
Surprisingly even for Kishio, after killing the bugs, a new skill information got imprinted in his head and that was necromancy, although he had decided against trying it out right there and then.
He awaited the start of the second level when he heard Uragami mumbling, but after asking Uragami a question and receiving no reply, he simply paid no attention to his parasite.
Soon the sealed holes around the glass container all made clicking noises as they all opened up.
Kishio frowned, this was supposed to be the second level but all the holes of the container were currently open, he felt a bit wary but still remained calm.
It was useless being anxious in a situation, only with a calm mind can the right decisions be made.
A small gold bug was the first to fly out of the holes, its speed slightly faster than the previous ones, Kishio squinted his eyes on the target.
Dark smoke-like aura coated his index finger, he made no move immediately waiting for the creature to get closer.
As soon as it fell within Kishio's striking range, he slashed his finger upwards swiftly like a sword, he looked like a calm and experienced swordsman up against a foe.
The bug was immediately slashed into two offering almost no resistance as it collapsed onto the floor "Minimal energy for minimal return…balanced" Kishio nodded silently to himself in satisfaction praising his accurate and conserving use of his energy as he felt no difference in the amount of energy expended and of that the kogami returned.
After the first bug was killed, from all four corners multiple bugs came rushing out, the sheer number obviously worse than the last ten seconds of the first round.
Kishio let out a sigh, it was obvious to him, this wasn't how it was meant to play out, whatever the gamemaster was doing, he didn't like it.
Using his footing and sword skills he had learnt I'm his past, he avoided a few bugs while also disposing of some, but he knew the battle couldn't play out like that, he was going to lose.
Activating death in this situation would be futile, the gold bugs of now were stronger than the bugs of the last round and the thinner death aura is spread, the less potent it became, the bugs would simply get through the death aura and to him.
Kishio extended his senses to within the holes, he made up his mind immediately after.
Moving graciously with pure skill and accuracy he avoided most of the bugs scaling through dozens of them, when people thought he was going to get hit, he either slashed or performed remarkable footwork escaping the situation, on worse scenarios he would spread wither extending its use to more than just his finger.
It almost looked like a fairy dancing graciously through a sea of flowers, but with the dark smoke-like aura and Kishio aloof look, it looked a bit darker, wherever he went dozens of bugs fell.
Beads of sweat dropped from his face, but that did nothing to change his aloof look, even the beads of sweat made the scene look darker to the people.
"A dozen men may come, I will not falter. A hundred men? I'll brave my sword through.
A thousand men, I'll do the same with a merry smile" an elderly man from the crowd recited the lines slowly.
"I am the invincible warrior" Yue suddenly spoke, titling the man's poetic words.
The people saw Kishio approach a wall slowly, but they were confused why he would approach where the bugs were emerging from only.
Only about thirty seconds had gone by and he had longed since increased his output of wither as it now covered his entire palm letting him use his hand as a sword and not just his finger.
Wherever he moved about ten bugs collapsed, he didn't necessarily have to touch them and just the smoke aura of wither touching the bugs was enough.
As Kishio approached the wall, he had decided to gamble on the round, placing his hand on one of the holes, he could feel a big on the verge of coming out "Wither" Kishio mumbled lightly as dark aura covered his entire being and then suddenly burst outward from his being spreading and immediately covering the entire glass container, visuality became nil and none said a word.
They were all dumbstruck not expecting a move like this, the weaker ones felt their spines shiver while the stronger ones simply nodded acknowledging Kishio's strength, one thing was certain though, the image of Kishio as a great figure almost like a carrier of death was imprinted in their minds.
Of course some wondered why he didn't just use the move he had used in the first sound, they all simply concluded it was something he couldn't use anyhow he wished, but one seeing this they knew their guesses were far from it.
As the darkness faded, they could see the young man standing still, his expression dull and aloof, as always, as if he hadn't just performed an award-winning performance, this kind of destructive AOE skill, which team wouldn't want it in a dungeon?
"Big brother, you were amazing" Yue shouted out excitedly breaking the silence in the room as she raced towards him, it was then people realized that the glass container had also been reduced to dust.
Yue hugged Kishio tightly as she spouted multiple compliments about his performance to him, seeing her yapping about so much, Kishio left out a warm heart-touching smile, blood trailed down the side of his mouth but he wiped it off unnoticed.
He has only just mastered wither, overusing the power had cost him greatly, he wasn't going unconscious at the very least, but he could feel his body weak, he needed rest.
Kishio spotted the old man and began walking in his direction, Yue trailing behind him.
"The enhancement lock" Kishio demanded, he looked like he was smiling, but he wasn't.
"Congratulations young man" the old man said with a smile as he brought out a grey card "I want you to join the lifeless clan?" the old man's words made everyone in the room gasp in mild shock, the lifeless clan? Did they hear well?
The second best clan in the entire western region, an invitation from such a clam was like a pathway to paradise and could easily elevate someone's status, one could easily acquire fame and money with the chance to meet prestigious people and gain connections.
Kishio stated into the man's eyes without a hint of emotion "Just the enhancement lock" he replied without a care in the world, from the gasps of the people around he could tell the lifeless clan was a big deal, but he simply didn't care, he hadn't been in this world for long so he knew too little about the top clans and the likes, he only wished to get the enhancement lock and leave.
His natural instincts were already warning hsi about this strange old man, for a man to wield so much power, the ability to control so many beasts, he wasn't as simple as a store owner or an ordinary member of the lifeless clan, he was dangerous.
What else could he have control of, or what if he had stronger beasts, he is too dangerous.
People who heard Kishio's reply felt mixed emotions, some felt angered while some thought he was ignorant, those that wished to recruit him simply gave up the idea, he was a great person but without the help of a powerful backer he would have to struggle to reach the top, that's if he even got there.
If he could reject the offer of such a prestigious clan, they believed they had less of a chance.
The old man looked Kishio dead in the eye wondering if Kishio heard him or was joking, he still had a friendly smile on his face as he handed Kishio the card "Please, reconsider if you ever change your mind you can contact me with this, or come directly to the clan," the old man said before taking Kishio to a table filled with enhancement locks, as soon as they arrived Yue was already shouting.
"Big brother, big brother, I want this," Yue shouted giddily as she looked at Kishio pointing at a light blue enhancement lock, Kishio simply gave a nod telling her it was alright to pick it.
Kishio walked Yue out of the shop as she held the enhancement lock up showing him how pretty it was, without even as much as a glance at the old man for confirmation, he left.
"This man…smells like death" the old man squinted his eyes as he watched the departing Kishio, his skin warped as his appearance changed, he sighed and looked away.
