Olaf Gladstone's POV:
"Is he dead?" I asked the high elf floating next to me.
"Hmph! Do you even need to ask? Do not compare me to the likes of my brother!"
The arrogant white-haired elf I was addressing is the high elf hailed as the 'Sage Of The Fay', Wilhelm Alfheim. He, along with myself and one other are known as the three sages who stand at the top of the world of magic.
After my loss to that youngster, I used the few completed parts of my new mythical armor to put up a strong front against the other sages, but I am still not able to display a power equal to that of the past. It is the main reason I had requested the help of the other sages in reclaiming the Walpurgis Island, as I lack the power necessary to even attempt such a feat alone. Fortunately, Wilhelm had agreed to come to my aid on account of his younger brother being slain by that monster during the battle for Walpurgis.
Not wanting to reveal the location of my spatial portals, in case my weakness is discovered prematurely, we had used the 2nd moon to cross the continental barrier, before making our way towards the 1st continent. Through our search for that bastard, we discovered the unimaginable had happened. That lunatic had really destroyed the greatest achievement in magic history. My ancestor's blood, sweat and tears, now lay scattered across the weakest of the three continents.
I swore to make that monster beg for death for what he did as we began our journey back to the 3rd continent, but I did not expect for the time of reckoning to be so close at hand. Seeing as it would take some time for the 2nd moon to make its return to the 3rd continent, I decided to go enjoy the 1st of this year's Kaguya-festivals, but never did I expect to see my sworn enemy participating in the festivities.
I had swiftly contacted my fellow sage and informed him of the situation. We were a bit reluctant to strike out in the open given the people we risked offending by disrupting this festival. Not only the dark lord, but even the royal family of the 2nd moon seemed to be involved with him. We agreed it would be best to swiftly ambush him while he was alone and isolated, but there wasn't a moment of peace to be had, as experts would be awaiting him around every corner, even inside his private quarters.
But finally, right as the finals were to begin an opening appeared. The Dark Lord had left ashamed after being humiliated by that strange creature. The princess had returned to the castle and the crown prince had run away in tears after the semi-finals, not that he would come to his aid in the first place. Even the two cultivators who seemed to be behind his entry into this competition were present. The only thing we had to be wary of was that strange magical beast he had tamed. However, it seemed like we were not going to get a better chance than this to catch him off guard and began our ambush.
I would activate the barriers I had set up in secret under the concealment of Wilhelm's spirit magic. Once activated, they will create an illusory space mirroring the real world, where we could attack without fear of being noticed by the outside world.
The moment he entered the false copy of the arena, I had swiftly used my mythical battle axe to split him in half, while Wilhelm would have his fairies destroy his remains before he could recover.
"Are you absolutely certain you killed him? Even when I cleaved him into pieces, he still remained alive somehow!" I asked.
"His body has been reduced to dust! How you and my brother lost our island to this worm is beyond me! It makes me wonder! Were my kin really slain by this lowly insect?" He asked, giving me a look of suspicion.
"I-! Hm!"
*Clang*
Just as I was about to give a retort, my instincts alerted me of the danger, and I swiftly raised my battle axe on reflex. It turned out to be the correct course of action as the mutilated body of the man we had ambushed had suddenly appeared out of thin air and attempted to stab my neck with his jagged green dagger. I used my newly created mythical black boots to create some distance between the two of us.
The man thought to be dead moments ago stood before us in barely one piece. His body had been burned head to toe by the explosion, while chunks of his body appeared to have been devoured by the sphere of darkness that engulfed him, but the most eye-catching injury on his body was the slowly closing gap I had cleaved through his body. His gray matter was pulling itself back into place as I saw the two sides of his skull slowly fusing back together.
"What a repulsive worm you are! Though, I suppose you are more cockroach than worm seeing as you are still breathing!" Wilhelm said upon laying eyes on the man.
"Funny! Would that make you a beehive or an anthill then?" He replied with his burned lips.
Wilhelm, seemingly offended at the comparison, called upon his contracted spirits, before raising his hand to point at the monstrous man as he proclaimed.
"Kill him!"
