Ava makes her way to the underground train station, where she arrives at Genesis Innovation Inc. She approached the door where she had been caught many months ago to break in.
The security guards recognize but can't stop looking at her with awe of her sophisticated appearance here she is her dressing a blouse chic with a skirt wearing a handbag with a handle walking straight towards the security door, who wouldn't look at her anyway, her appearance is that of a female lady with a Jetblack luscious long hair who's grew a slightly taller with waist and bust size are about the right proportions.
The guards looked at each other before looking back at her. Soon enough, Ava is finally near them as she places her hand on the side of her waist and pulls up an ID for an interview.
One guard looked at it and offered her an entrance. The security guards looked at each other, really astonished by what they just saw, before one of them said, "Hey, isn't that the girl who tried to break into this place? A long time ago?"
Ava continued walking. She was then approached by an interviewer, who appeared to be a male of somewhat tall height, with short hair, like some sort of soldier, with a beard.
The interviewer stoically asks, "Your name is Ava, correct?", and Ava replies, "It's a pleasure to meet you." The interviewer instructed, "Follow me," and Ava followed him.
"You're all grown up now. Last time I met you, you were this small - so quiet"
Ava stood quietly, as if she were anticipating the moment when she could finally find her meaning in this boring world.
The interviewer was walking, and as she walked, some areas required clearance. Not everyone has access to those areas, but from observation, there were scientists studying genetics, engineers, janitors, technicians, and even test subjects like animals being tested on, especially kids.
(Yeah, kids, some wearing patient shirts, others like daycare clothes)
Where scientists observe the children with coldness, while being evaluated by criteria or measurements
Every encounter is sinister, and then there is the engineering part
Engineers, some for CRISPR engineering to modify the DNA sequence with another, were also working on the machines. All of them are extremely advanced. It was really tied to the facility name, "Genesis Innovation."
As for the other technology, some were working on harnessing photons and lasers for efficient power generation, even robotic arms. Nobody is looking at her as they are so busy doing business. What only matters is the merit of their work and how they can finally accomplish a goal.
Ava followed the interviewer to an office with just books and a computer. Soon, the interviewer said, "Sit," while signalling towards it with his palm professionally. The man's insignia felt like a veteran in this place; he doesn't look like someone who's easy to fool, so any attempts to do so would be foolhardy.
Ava sat on the chair where the interviewer, with the table between them, looked at Ava, "Ava Sumeris… Correct?" where she responded with a shy nod as he read the documented file. The interviewer asked, "What is your blood type?"
Ava quickens, "Blood O".
The interviewer nods, being somewhat satisfied, "Okay."
Interview begins with "Okay"
The interviewer asked, "What are your skills?"
Ava answered, "Programming and technology."
The interviewer responded with skepticism, "I don't believe it. There is nothing in your generated document that says your skills are in Programming and technology."
Ava excused herself and asserted herself without being rude, "Oh, I have been coding at a young age, sir."
Interviewer, being a skeptic, said, "Really, that's what they all say, why don't you prove it? Solve this programming question." The interviewer showed her a coding problem.
Ava looked at it and used her cybernetic mind to solve the problem.
Ava solved it while typing fast; she just understood the problem
The interviewer acknowledged but was still unsure with his high standards, "Expected, but I have a question: why did you not finish your degree?"
Ava felt uncomfortable as his face was etched with concern, "Personal reasons?"
Interviewer, being somewhat skeptical, "Personal reasons? As in what"
Ava answered, "I….. Don't know, I just don't like school anymore."
The interviewer nodded, "I see."
The interviewer then changes the topic while holding a clipboard, "Moving on, what is an internet protocol?"
Ava answered as much as she could, "Something your device uses to connect to the internet, or when you want to connect to something. You need to have an internet protocol to connect and to do something like receiving and sending"
The interviewer then proceeded to ask her about other stuff, "Sure. But you do know IPv6 and IPv4, right?"
Ava nodded with her mouth, feeling assured, "Mhm, definitely, I know what the subnet looks like."
Interviewers nods
The interviewer wants to probe, "Have you developed an app before?"
Ava answered, "No, I usually spend most of my time reverse engineering and stuff. I was too busy with studies, but I definitely know how an app works."
The interviewer asked, trying to test her general knowledge, "What is socket programming?"
Ava answered again organically, "Something you use if you want to do network programming."
The interviewer then tunes up his interview, "How about binaries? You know how to convert it to decimal."
Ava answered, "Divide it by 2 over and over again until the answer is 0, where you can't divide it anymore. Now count from down to up of the remainders and stack them from right to left."
The interviewer was intrigued and asked, "Good job, how about virtual memory?"
Ava answered, "Virtual memory is a technique used by programs to abstract information to give the program the impression it's a lot bigger than it actually is. It works by creating virtual addresses in the page table where it would be summoned and point to the physical address of the data."
Ava looks around while doing a heuristic in her head, "The data that is not used by the operating system is then stored in the secondary storage alongside the page table, abstracting the virtual address to it, so when that data is called by the CPU, it will point to the physical address of the RAM."
"Which is something you call paging, the unused data is then stored in the page file of the secondary memory, and the virtual address will be linked with the data on the page table for further use. When selected by the OS, it will get that data alongside its virtual address and then translate it into the physical address. It swaps and swaps from abstract to load and back to abstract."
The interviewer asks, "What is Linux?"
Ava just turned on a blank face, not being impressed, "The kernel behind the operating system I use?"
The interviewer feels like he ran out of spaces, "Impressive."
The interviewer then, being unsure, "Still. I don't know what to do with you yet, but I am allowing you to be a software engineer at the research facility."
The interviewer grinned, with a weird challenge, "Now that you are at it, why don't you try hacking some of the computers here with your mind?" The interviewer smiles
Ava, being confused and unsure, "Hacking? With only my mind? That's crazy, I can't do that, I am just a regular mind whose mind is only cybernetically enhanced."
Interviewer being somewhat comical yet certain, "But you CAN do more than that, you know. You are not just a self-made genius."
Ava becomes shocked and listens. She somewhat understood what he was saying. She looked at him and nodded. She looked at the computer the interviewer was using, and then all of a sudden, Ava was able to feel it; it was hard, she could only feel intuitively, but controlling it. Damm, that's going to hurt for a bit. She's not a mythical beast; she's just a part robot and part human.
Ava tries to use her powers. She uses her cybernetic brain to go through the network. She managed to connect to the computer, and that's about it. The data flowing through her mind regarding computers was very jumbled. So Ava tries to sort it from the river before having her head in pain.
Ava holds her head as she falls to the ground. Her head was aching bad, the interviewer looked at Ava who was struggling and was impressed by her first try, "Congratulations. You are hired, you will work as a junior software engineer while receiving special training welcome to the family. Ava, your father would be proud of you" soon enough the security guards flanked her and put her on a coma bed and fed her medicines that can make her head less painful.
Soon enough, Ava was able to function without problems. Ava's torso started to stand where she sat on the medical bed. The doctor asked about how she is doing while holding some sort of tablet with a pen that magnetically connected at the top of it.
Ava looked at the doctor and reassured her, "I am doing okay, doctor. Thanks for the help."
Ava eventually became curious and asked the doctor, "Why did the interviewer ask me to hack the computer with my mind?" The doctor smiled, "To test your ability." Ava gazes towards him with curiosity, "Ability, how do you know about my ability?"
The doctor looks at her, "Hmm, let's just say we have known you since your inception. Come, let's go, Ava." Ava stopped herself from moving, and then she looked at the doctor with curiosity and asked, "Was this the place I was born in?"
The doctor, not being surprised, said, "It seems your intellect has already figured it out. Good job. Yes, Ava, this was the place you were born and experimented in."
The doctors hands out her hand and let Ava grab unto it, and so Ava grab unto the hand where she picks herself up where she walks with him and ask, "So what now, I try to break into this facility because this was the place my father worked at and I haven't seen him not in the entirety of my life" the doctor walk and his mouth still uncertain, "Your father… Ohh, he's still working with someone - and I am not at liberty to speak, it's only for those with clearance, a very special one you should earn, Ava."
Ava turned with optimism, "I will do what I can. Just tell me the tasks I need to do."
The doctor announced his plan, "We will have to first improve your abilities through a specialized training we have prepared for you. We will start, let's just say, after next week, from now I will need to familiarize you."
Ava's interest perked up. "I am excited. Can I have my first paycheck?" the doctor answered, "Oh, I am not the one in charge of things. You might want to ask your manager," Ava then became curious, "Well… That's embarrassing for me to say, but. Okay, where is the manager, sir?" The doctor pointed it out, and Ava went straight. Soon enough, she arrived near the manager and saw Clara nearby. Her appearance was that of a Latina lady in her 40s
Ava, being awkward, asks for a paycheck; however, Clara looks at her disappointedly, "You haven't done anything, now you are asking for a paycheck?" Ava apologized for her rude behavior and dismissed herself before Clara instinctively grabbed her hand and handed her the paycheck, "Well, since you are a first timer, maybe I will allow you to have a grab of your paycheck."
Ava smiles and picks up the paycheck. Ava starts holding the money as she spins. Ava twirls and twirls, holding the money up in the air, and walks away. She was very delighted.
She was extremely naive about it. For some time, she got bored twirling around, standing where she had left the area. As she walked, she saw children again.
Ava looked at one of them, one has black hair with a round face, wearing normal clothes. His eyes felt cold. The color of his eyes was dark-brown; apparently, it had melanin to it.
The other was a girl with platinum hair and brown eyes who seemed new to the laboratory. Ava looked at the children, who leaned forward and asked, "Do you girls know who you are?"
The children responded and wondered to themselves, "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"
"I don't know who we are, but we are here for some reason," the children answered.
Ava decided to test their intelligence. She inquired regarding thermodynamics and sorts. The children were able to give sufficient answers.
Ava was impressed. She looked at those kids and said, "Impressive, do you want to play hide and seek with me?" Ava stared at the children while standing up, smiling, awaiting their response.
The kids nodded and went into hiding while giggling.
Ava counted down 10 seconds' head start. As Ava counted, the kids went into hiding. One boy found a hiding spot, and the other girl was still looking for a hiding spot.
As Ava counted, she became closer to the cipher while staring at the wall. She was going to find them like Pokémon. As Ava finished her counting, she looked back and went to find them, where she started to look for those kiddos.
Ava starts to take a walk, and she checks under the table, the drawers, and everything. In reality, those kids have been making use of their perspectives to hide from Ava, even moving around or going into places that Ava has checked.
As Ava continues to walk, looking for them, the kids would go places. Another problem is the amount of noise the scientists and machinery were making, so it helps that the kids camouflage themselves even when moving.
Ava became increasingly stressed. Her eyes were starting to strain. The more she tried to move, the more she wouldn't let some genetically engineered kids outsmart her.
One who has intelligence and beauty.
Ava is starting to grind her teeth and mouth as if she is getting extremely frustrated; her head is boiling. She looked around, trying to look for those children, while the children went everywhere.
Even hiding in places, Ava looked around. Soon enough, she had already explored the full laboratory except for the restrictive areas due to her clearance level.
Ava got very tired. Her eyes were very weary. She decided to retrace her steps.
Ava vexes, "Hahaha, very clever of you kids, why don't you reveal yourselves now?" Ava then starts running in a frenzy. She checks under the table while scientists watch her go extremely mad, even getting tired.
Ava, with frustration, screamed, "Come on, show yourselves!" while looking for those kids. Soon enough, Ava wandered near a scientist and asked, putting on a professional, naive young female persona, being a little flirtatious, and asked him where the kids were
The scientist answered, "Oh, those kids went there." Eventually, Ava realized what those kids had been doing. She grinned villainously and thanked the scientist, "Thank you, good sir. You have been a rather good help to me. You, sir, must have been a good brother."
Ava walks away with the scientist blushing and continues working. As Ava starts to walk, she rechecks the hidden stuff. One kid heard Ava's footsteps and complained, "That's not fair, asking someone where we are."
Silently to himself while Ava is looking for them - eventually, a noise is heard, and it's from the girl. Ava bitterly smiles as she starts to rush to the footsteps, which leads to a room; the room has a door in it. As Ava entered the room by opening the sliding sci-fi door, she found herself in a room with lights and boxes. It's a large storage room.
Ava became cruelly opportunistic, "I know you are here, you can't hide from me forever," while smiling. Suddenly, the light in the warehouse turned off.
Ava was confused about how the lights in the warehouse turned off. Eventually, a kid started making her way in the dark, even memorizing her moves back to the door, where the sliding door opened, which alerted Ava.
Ava makes a run for it, saying, "Oh no, you don't!" As Ava approaches the sliding open door, the door closes, leaving her in a really dark place with only her eyes closed.
It was really dark, and she was really outsmarted by a bunch of little midgets who reside in this laboratory for no explanation.
She stood up and tried to open the sliding door, but the kid had made sure to lock the door. Soon enough, Ava became very lonely as she was going to be left in the darkness forever.
For a while, Ava raged. She stomped the floor, and she even kicked a box out of frustration, and the box on the top of the stack fell on her head.
The box that she was holding fell on her head, thus hurting her. Her cute, attractive head saw this as an affront to her ego. Soon enough, Ava became very furious. She lost all her logic. She tried to rush to the sliding door and bang on it, screaming, "Open the door, open the door, open the door! When I get my hands on you kids, I will make sure you wish you never did that!"
Ava continued kicking the sliding door while the worker on the other side was confused. One of them decided to open the sliding door, but someone stopped the person and worried, "It's probably a crazy monster inside."
Suddenly, a scientist decided to unlock it and saw a frenzied female wearing a blouse with a slender hourglass figure, her green but dark shade eyes felt very angry as she was breathing in and out, "What are you looking at? Not the time to entertain your stares."
She rudely makes her way by pushing the scientist away using her hand and making a run for those kids. The kids are now in their hiding positions, and this time they have prepared stuff.
Once Ava starts doing it, the kids have probably prepared something in advance. Ava starts making her way. Ava saw a door linking to those kids as she opened the door, and Pie just catapulted to her face, ruining her precious facial beauty.
This isn't hide and seek anymore; it's a show for Ava. Ava couldn't see anything; the pie had been slung at her face, and she couldn't see anything before hitting the wall. Ava then wipes her face with her hand. She got furious; it was no longer hide and seek, it was war.
Even if Ava has wiped her face from the remains of the pie, she is irritated. She went to the restroom and washed it, consequently wetting her blouse's collarbone.
Ava smiled, her eyebrows starting to turn red, "Very nice. Just very nice. You played your game well, but I think it's time the real kicker joins the fray."
Ava uses her cybernetic mind and starts to craft a helmet out of materials, even picking up goggles and a mask, and she finalizes her armor with gloves.
Ava starts looking for them, she walks around the place before her foot just suddenly trips over a haywire where a sugar smoke has exploded.
Ava's goggles started to accrue smoke, but she was prepared, and nothing was inhaled. Soon enough, Ava saw a slightly open door, and she checked what was on the top of the door.
Oh, look, it's a battery-powered clothing iron at the top. Ava just cringed and kicked the door. After kicking the door, the clothing iron just fell to the ground.
Ava just waved her head and then started looking out for the kids.
Ava became irritated, "You think this will outsmart me? How puny of you."
Ava starts looking around before she catches a kid with black hair who was hiding.
Ava rejoiced, "You're a clever kid. But this isn't a movie."
Ava holds the kid aggressively with her hand, pulling him out. Ava grinned slowly and started asking him, "So, tell me where the other girl is?"
The boy points and makes way. But something was prepared for this eventuality.
The girl with platinum hair starts to throw another pie on her face. Her face turned crimson again, and her goggles started to wear out. Oh, look, Ava's goggles were creamed as the pie fell from her face.
Ava was so furious, she impulsively rushed in the hope of getting the last kid, but the kid was on her side. As soon as Ava took off her goggles, the young girl threw another pie on her face, once again ruining her sight and her face, except for her mouth, where her eyes were temporarily blinded. Ava rushes and grabs the girl's shirt.
Ava, in a dramatic speech, said, "It's over for you, troublemaker; it's my victory to savor." Ava laughs and starts to hug the little girl with platinum hair and tickle her while the little girl makes funny noises.
Ava cleans her face with her arm and hands, and her clothes are a mess. Her body is filled with sugar, her head has been injured, and most of all, her beautiful face has been ruined a couple of times.
Ava starts to hold the little girl's hand and drag her away - they kind of just make the mess, and I am sure her superiors will be mad but hey she managed to entertain the kids in her expense soon enough, Ava was seen holding the hand of the little girl as they walk away - her superiors looked at what the kids had done.
Ava just smiled and excused childishly, "It's not my fault," while holding the girl's hand - the superiors said, "We know... You have our apologies," soon enough.
Ava pinched the girl's earlobe with her eyes not being satisfied, "Never do that again, okay?!" The little girl nodded shyly. Ava smiled and walked away. Her chic clothes had been ruined, and her face had been ruined, but all she could do was smile. She picked the remains of the pie and put it in her mouth.
Ava looked back and introduced herself, "My name is Ava, and I am a new employee here. What is your name?" The girl answered with a soft voice, "Thea." Ava asks about the boy's name. Thea answered, "Brian." Ava smiled, hearing that, "Very beautiful names." Ava started to disappear from her walk
Of course, there is nothing she can do to her clothes and face; there were even workers who drooled at the creamed collarbone of her clothes, which infuriates Ava, and she stops and tells them, "Don't look at me, you perverts."
Ava starts to walk, and the workers, especially scientists, focus on their projects. As Ava walked away, she eventually disappeared.
The security guards who saw her a while ago were flabbergasted by what happened, but remained silent as the girl walked away from the building. She even asks them if there are clothes for her to wear or if she can ride their vehicle back to her home.
One security guard blushed and was willing to help her.
Ava then felt reassured as she entered the restroom, cleaning her face with water but not her clothes, as she awaited the dismissal of one security guard whom she asked to be her taxi.
Soon, the security guard had met his dismissal, where Ava seized a chance to ride with him in his car. She winked at him with a smile and apologized, "I am sorry, I don't look good today, I have to clean up the mess those kids made in my garment."
The security guard profusely assures, "IT'S NO BIG DEAL! AVA"
Ava laughed. As the security guard drives the hover vehicle back to her hotel, she arrives back at her hotel. Ava lounges herself and kisses the side of his face and says, "Thank you for driving me back home. One day, you will have a fine girlfriend."
And that was the moment the security guard felt like he had the best moment of his life.
Ava has finally returned to her room in the hotel, code 614, where she cleaned up in the shower and changed into her home clothes, and then went to sleep. Marking the end of her day, the next day she woke up and realized that her clothes were a mess and she had forgotten to clean them.
