On the main road from the Desolate Desert to Rock Sand City, a red blur was racing forward.
Looking closer, it was actually a pack of red skeletons—moving so fast they left afterimages in their wake.
Carlos sat in the bronze palanquin, watching the roadside scenery streak past.
He calculated the timing in his head:
"By now, sister should've gotten the letter."
The moment he left the Desolate Desert, Carlos's first move was to fire off a letter to his sister.
The gist of it was that he'd discovered the Golden Sand Society was in cahoots with the Black Poison Faction in the Desolate Desert.
The situation was bad news. He was heading to Rock Sand City first to check things out, and he needed sister to hustle over and provide 'backup'!
