Chapter 3 - Chapter - 3

Inside the forest, there was a village called Orcs' Village—a settlement inhabited by the orc race. They lived in peace and harmony...

Until a certain human came.

"Help! I've been bitten by a monster! Please, someone help me!"

A human voice rang out just beyond the village border. The nearby orcs heard the cry and began to gather one by one, stepping out cautiously.

When the human saw the large, muscular green figures approaching, his face twisted in shock. He had thought this was a human village. He didn't expect another race to live here.

But the orcs, seeing his injury, did not hesitate—they helped him. They treated his wound with care, despite his confused and fearful glances.

The human could only grit his teeth.

Why? Because he was a noble.

And nobles held pride above all else, especially above gratitude toward "lesser races."

After being treated, he left without a single word of thanks.

A few days later, he returned. But this time—not alone.

An army of soldiers and mercenaries followed behind him. He stood proudly at the front, lips curled in a smug grin.

The orc chief stepped forward to meet him, recognizing the man they had once saved. The chief hoped… maybe he had come to apologize. Or offer peace.

Instead—

*Shhk*

A blade pierced the chief's chest.

The man they saved had stabbed him.

What followed was chaos. Screams echoed through the village as soldiers and mercenaries set fire to homes and slaughtered orcs indiscriminately. From elders to children—none were spared.

As the fire consumed what was once a peaceful home, the noble looked back at the burning village with satisfaction.

"Filthy pests."

He left, assuming the job was finished.

But he was wrong.

Beneath the rubble, a handful of orc children and few elders had survived—bloodied, shaking, and filled with rage.

The hatred in the children's eyes burned brighter than the flames around them.

They would never forget.

They would never forgive.

They would bring justice to their family—and revenge on all humans.

*Back to now*

*Growl...*

"I'm hungry... sigh..."

'Hey everyone. This is your beloved MC. Where am I right now, you ask?'

'Well… I'm currently tied to a pole.'

'Yup. Tied up like a sack of potatoes, being carried through the forest by big green humanoids. I'm calling them orcs. Because, well… they look like orcs.'

"I didn't expect it to be this easy to capture a human," one of the orcs said in their native tongue.

"Yeah. When we showed up, he just laid down with all his limbs up. Like… total surrender?"

"I guess it's a human thing? Either way, made it simple for us."

*Growl...*

The orcs paused and glanced down at the tied-up human.

"Uhh… hehehe. Do you guys, uh… have any food?" I asked, trying to gesture with my tied-up hands.

The orcs exchanged confused looks.

"Anyone understand that?"

"Nope. I don't speak human. You, Jimmy?"

"Dunno. Me dumb. But me know… when belly makes noise, me want meat," Jimmy replied proudly.

The other orcs nodded thoughtfully.

"Should we feed him?"

"I don't know... Didn't the chief warn us not to help humans?"

Silence followed… until Jimmy reached into his pocket. He smiled as he pulled out something and walked over to me.

"Here," he said, holding it out.

"Eh? Is that… for me? No way, that can't be right..." I muttered, then pointed at the food, then at myself. Jimmy nodded.

With a grin, he brought the food to my mouth.

I took a bite… and instantly, tears welled in my eyes.

"...I never knew meat jerky could taste this good…"

"Thank you," I said, nodding over and over again.

Jimmy responded with the biggest, happiest smile I'd ever seen.

The other orcs sighed quietly, shook their heads, and resumed walking. They could only hope the chief wouldn't yell at them for this.

Not long after, we reached the Orcs' Village.

"We're back!" one of the orcs shouted.

A guard peeked over the top of the gate, confirmed their identity, and opened the entrance.

As we entered, a towering orc approached us—his presence commanding. This was clearly the chief.

"Chief, we've returned," one of the carriers said.

The chief stepped forward, his eyes narrowing as they landed on me.

"Ah… look at this. A disgusting human."

He slowly walked over and stared me down.

"Do you know how much I'm holding back right now to not kill you where you stand, human?" he growled.

I tilted my head, blinking in confusion.

"Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying," I said.

The chief was silent for a moment. Then, to my surprise, he switched languages.

"You will die tomorrow. Any last words?"

"!!! YOU CAN SPEAK HUMAN LANGUAGE?! Thank god—listen, I don't know why you captured me, but I swear I'm innocent! Please just let me go—"

But the chief only laughed and turned away.

"Waiiit! Nooooo~!"

The orcs carried me toward a wooden storage building and tossed me down with a thud.

"Ugh! Can you not treat me like a bag of rice?! My back…!"

Without a word, the orcs walked out and closed the door behind them.

"Wait! At least untie the rope—! ...and they're gone. Sigh..."

"It's useless."

A quiet voice spoke behind me.

"Huh?! There's someone else here?!"

I twisted around as best I could—and saw a girl.

She was sitting in the corner, arms crossed, looking unimpressed.

"Except for their leader, they can't understand you," she said. Then her eyes widened.

"Wait—YOU'RE—?!"

"HUH—YOU'RE—?!"

"The girl I saved!"/"The idiot hero!"

They shouted at the same time.
