Chapter 10 - The Map function.

I'm sure glad I don't have a sense of smell, because I doubt this room smells all that good, considering the corpse…

Ok sooo, a few things, maybe five or so things.

One! Uhh hmm, how do I put this?

When I get close to the computer, it glitches out and turns into the 'Codex' page, exept, at the top of the screen, where once was a collection of greyed out tabs now one of them, the one most to the left is green.

But that's not what I'm talking about, what I'm actually saying is, if I walk away from the monitor for a few paces, it goes back to what it regularly shows.

And in the bottom right hand of the screen, right where it would be on a regular display, is the time and date.

It's 12:28 PM.

Today's date, according to the thing, is 8/15/2145.

Oh what the fuck.

My mind spirals as I begin to try and wrap my head around it for a moment- on one hand it makes way way more sense why things are so weird, and on the other hand, if we're so far in the future, where are all of the people?

Sure, I don't actually know how likely it is for the entirety of humanity to have died, but seriously where are the survivors.

Ugh -never mind- onto thing number two!

When I get close to the screen, as I said before it glitches into showing the CODEX screen, and the new green button, it says MAP, on it.

Clicking on it with some finagling of my fingers into the proper positions to use the mouse, reveals a green map on a matte black background, with most of it greyed out.

It's geometry is conducive to the areas I know of, with a few others I haven't seen before, but the surface of the 3D ground is made of hexagons.

Strange, this 'Map' seems only to encapsulate the areas within the fences?

It also shows the room I'm in now, with me being displayed as a little green army soldier looking dude, but well, me shaped instead.

Oddly enough it didn't actually show the vent I used to get in here at all? Well, there was a little green toy icon in an indent where the vent should have entered into the room, but on the map the actual rest of the vent, wasn't there?

Moving on, the upper middle left of the MAP screen is a tab titled OBJECTIVE, below it in that same all caps font, is my [Mission]

Which hasn't changed from Find the Slayer, by the way…

In the bottom right, is a number of hexagons, twelve to be exact, all of them are white question marks, with the exception of the second one, being that same icon of a toy, like the vent, but white instead of green, with a lime highlight around it.

That was about it for the computer, I wasn't able to really interact with it more then I was already able to, and most of the information was just kind of useless at the moment.

Well besides the date being what it is, I guess, and that there might be more 'collectible' type things around?

Thing three was more so a side note compared to the first two; the language.

I was able to read the language of this place.

I didn't think it was that notable before but now that I know it's really far in the future, it's definitely something odd, but ultimately I can't really do much about it.

Thing four- the timing- I think?

This guy's corpse, and the other one in the bathroom, are both rather fresh, and the fact is, I have not seen a single bug or insectoid since beginning this whole mess.

Meaning this whole thing, might have only started weeks- perhaps a month a most- ago.

What's more odd, the two corpses are in different states of decay, Markus here still has most of his gunk still where it should be if not it all being, very dry and decay ridden, but the bathroom one was nearly fully a skeleton.

Fuck, I'm desensitized to this shit.

So- I don't really know what's going on there either, but it seems concerning.

Thing number five-

Hey wait a minute.

The noise stopped.

The noise, of the door being banged on by those things, stopped.

As I stared at the locked door, a passing thought went through my mind.

'How in the world had a few splashes of lime juice blinded something that I couldn't even get close to?'

As the room began flooding with an acrid blood red fire like zone, it dawned on me.

A hotbox.

Ohh. That one sucked.

Less because of the death itself lava's worse in that aspect but not to say being slowly melted into a slag fused into the ground while remaining fully conscious. Is in any way pleasant.

It's more so, that I thought it was safe.

I thought, however briefly, that they wouldn't be able to get to me.

So it hit me more then it should have I guess.

But in uhh, other news, I found out where that action figure went.

It went into that space I go when I die, yeah that cathedral-like gladiator pit with walls of skulls and evidence of a long over fight? Yeahh on one of the various skulls, there it is.

Just a little random guy, in all this shit. I can relate.

God I'm relating to plastic now.

G- oh right- thing five, for some reason, whenever I say the world 'God' I get a headache, but why though?

It's not like… no. But, so if my- wait but…

No.

Hey, wait why haven't the chains come for me yet?

Oh yeah no- ugh there they are- fuck.
