Chapter 645: A Boundary Without a Wall
Each of them brought back something different.
Seraphine had spent both days on the stormglass, and what she had was the most concrete finding any of them produced.
"Charge doesn't disperse right near the boundary," she said. She had a diagram of her own by then, cruder than Vyra's and clearer. "Put lightning into a shelf a hundred paces out and it bleeds off into the ground within four or five seconds — normal. Put the same charge into a shelf here—" she tapped the mark closest to the flat ground "—and it holds for eleven seconds and then it goes somewhere I can't follow. Not down. Not out. It just stops being present."
"Absorbed?"
"Something's taking it. Or it's leaving." She sat back. "I'd want to say leaving, but I can't prove a direction."
Vyra's contribution came out of watching the needles for a day and a half.
