Chapter 15 - The Main Reason

Not that it was called that here. But the general idea was the same.

A non-governmental organization, but one that still "talked" to the government, that found jobs that "normal people" didn't want to do but needed to be done. It would ask for a commission and offer a reward, post it on a notice board, and someone would come and do it. This would earn them the reward and eventually rise in rank.

It was basically the same here in every aspect, from simple tasks like helping with harvests or someone's fishing company, to venturing into the forest to bring back specific herbs, monster parts, or explore ancient ruins.

Question: Why would a being that wasn't much different from a god be doing this in front of this place?

Answer: To become an adventurer.

Second question: Why?

For Helion, there were several answers. First, it would be a way to see how the members of this world interacted with each other on a more intimate level. It would also be able to observe how a world with so many intelligent races and species, still far from the level of an intergalactic nation, interacted.

Second, he could experience more of this magical energy firsthand, cataloging its similarities and differences with various other forms of energy, especially with telekinetic energy.

Third, as an adventurer, he could visit various hidden sites and observe ruins to better understand how this world developed.

Since, according to the analyses his drones and AIs performed, this world was already quite old, over 10 million years old. Given this length of time and the number of intelligent beings inhabiting this parallel world, Helion found it very unlikely that this civilization (generally speaking), which had begun to enter the Iron Age, was the first generation of intelligent beings on this planet.

The presence of the drones and the mysterious islands only solidified this certainty.

And finally, he would fulfill another of his childhood dreams.

But couldn't all these goals be achieved remotely using drones, besides being safer?

Answer: yes.

Even more so considering that Helion still didn't know exactly what this magical energy that the individuals of this world used was or how it worked.

But that would go against the main reason Helion himself was doing this, the same reason he had "helped" the young woman and her caravan during the bandit attack.

Why simply observe when one could also interact and see the reactions of the individuals on this world up close?

Helion didn't deny that observing from afar, witnessing the will to live of these beings in the face of numerous difficulties, would be entertaining in itself. It also provided immaculate research data, without his personal opinion often interfering in the final analysis of such a species.

But if that were all he had to do, he could easily have stayed in his own dimension and observed how the "descendant" species of humans would interact with each other.

For Helion, the main reason for everything he did was entertainment, curiosity, and the discovery of new sensations of exaltation. What better way to experience these emotions than just watching through a lens while sitting somewhere?

That's why Helion was also curious about the person, or people, who were on those islands. He also wanted to understand why, even though they knew he was there, they did nothing but observe.

He might have an idea why, but he preferred to check it out for himself... later, much more later. Right now, he wanted to experience what it was like to be an adventurer in this new world.

With his heart pounding excitedly in his chest and his goals for the coming months as his base was being completed (since he had decided to build a complete base, sparing no expense), he opened the door and entered the guild.
