Kaid severed Elijah's left arm, but it wasn't enough – not nearly. Then, suddenly, his face brightened as he broke Elijah's legs and dragged him out of the inner room. Upon reaching the entrance of the warehouse, Kaid showed Elijah the bodies of his comrades. Sorrow washed over Elijah's face as he gazed at his fallen friends.
In tears, Elijah mustered all his strength, clenched his fist using his right arm, and aimed to strike Kaid with a punch. As his fist came closer to Kaid's face, Elijah thought, "At least I got to hit him once." With a sense of relief, Elijah smiled, but then his smile turned into hopelessness, and he felt helpless as Kaid broke his right arm. Kaid said slowly, "Did you really think I forgot what I promised you?"
Before Kaid could finish, Elijah's eyes turned bright red, and tears as red as blood gushed down his cheeks. He said, "Kill me." But to Elijah's surprise, Kaid said, "No." Elijah mustered all his strength and asked, "Why? Why did you come here?" Kaid replied, "I want you to feel despair from this moment on. You shall stare into the abyss, and you shall live inside it."
Kaid pulled out his daggers and slashed Elijah's throat. Then, he said to him, "I've already called the ambulance. In a few minutes, they'll arrive and take you to the hospital. But before then, you've already lost your ability to speak, to walk, to touch. Your bills will be paid, but your benefactor will remain a mystery. You'll live out your life unable to tell anyone what happened, unable to take your own life, unable to die."
Kaid set Elijah upon a crate and left. Elijah kept crying, but his vocal cords had already been severed. On a rooftop, Kaid transferred his life savings to the hospital and then jumped off, looking up at the sky and saying, "My only regret is that I won't see you again." As his head splattered on the sidewalk, Kaid heard a voice saying, "I found the best candidate".
