Damon's POV
"Mr. Westin, the shareholder is in your office," Godson's voice came through my earpiece as I stepped off the elevator. My heart sank—after last night's relief, this could only mean trouble. I straightened my tie and knocked lightly on my office door before entering.
Inside, Gregory Langford stood by the window, looking out over the city with an inscrutable expression. He turned as I entered, lips curved in a polite but cold smile.
My pulse thudded—this was unexpected. I had thought we put Gregory's demands behind us when exposing Celeste and Tessa's conspiracy. Yet here he was.
"Gregory," I began, keeping my tone measured. "Thank you for coming on short notice."
He inclined his head. "Damon. Thank you for seeing me." He gestured to the chair opposite my desk. I sat; he remained standing, posture commanding. My mind raced: what new leverage did he hold? What storm awaited?
