Chapter 19 - Attack

One month later.

Desolate Planet, Unknown location.

Inside a dark, gloomy room, a meeting was being held by seven individuals. At the head of this meeting was a beautiful woman, six feet tall with a physique that would make other women envious.

One could feel the urgency in the air as the individuals within the room were all hesitating as to who would begin this discussion.

The topic of their impromptu meeting today is the recent attack on their operational bases.

Starting a week ago, there had been reports of their operations on this desolate planet.

These attacks started with their operations that were 'persuaded' with raiding settlements and bringing back fresh blood for them.

Their supply chain had been heavily affected by it. Now this attacker is targeting their bases of operations. They had already lost dozens of personnel; only seven of them managed to survive.

This had caused them to gather here with their leader to discuss what to do moving forward.

A man amongst the seven hesitated for a second before gathering the courage to say, "Leader, what should be our next move?"

The leader, Aina, drew her gaze to the man, who shrank back at her, before continuing to ponder.

'I need to end the operations on this planet and leave quickly'

The truth is, they were not from this domain. They were brought here by some higher-ups from their organisation to fulfil a purpose, and that is what they had been up to.

What they were tasked with was not legal at all; in fact, it is considered an act of pure evil even by the standards of this world.

Getting caught doing it in their own domain would lead to an immediate execution; being caught doing it in another domain as a foreigner would lead to a fate worse than death.

The only reason she had agreed to come despite the dangers presented was because of the promise of endless humans to experiment with.

She had been working on making a new elixir that would make the body foundation realm much easier than it is, but she had no resources to complete it.

The leading resource needed was blood, not just any blood, but that of young, vibrant children.

The method she was developing was a vile one. One that wouldn't be permitted in her domain, so when she was offered a task with such benefits, she jumped at it despite the dangers.

Now, she was panicking; they had been found out. Whoever is causing them trouble must be very powerful and must have a powerful background.

How else would they be here if they didn't have a powerful backing?

This planet was desolate, at the very edge of the Galactic human territory, so an expert who could halt their operations was not on this planet.

Which would mean whoever was causing problems was not from this planet but from somewhere else. To get enough resources to travel from one planet to another, you would need a powerful background.

This led her to believe that she was no match for the expert, despite herself being the very peak of the body foundation realm.

She couldn't even figure out the purpose of this attacker. Were they here for something else, then stumbled on their operations? She couldn't tell the motive.

She looked around, scanning each face in this dark room. She recognizes every single member here.

Why wouldn't she? She carefully selected them when she was assigned to this planet.

"We should pack up and evacuate immediately." She stated.

Turning to one of the two women there, she asked, "How long would it take to complete the evacuation and eradicate evidence of the organisation's involvement?"

The woman, suddenly the centre of attention, had her head drooped down as she nervously replied, "It… would only take 20 minutes. I… I already made preparations for moments like this, Miss Aina."

Aina nodded with satisfaction. This was the reason she was kept around despite her timid and introverted attitude.

Turning to a man amongst the group with a black outfit, standing at the very edge of the room, he was barely noticeable by anyone; he was definitely good at stealth.

"From the report you brought back, I believe we have up to 3 hours before our uninvited guest arrives?"

The man whose face was covered by a mask replied with only a nod. He has never been one for talking.

"Good, then we must leave immediately," she declared solemnly.

"You may all leave to proceed with the evacuation plans immediately." She turned to the woman from before and instructed. "I leave you in charge of that."

The woman nodded timidly and started leading the others towards the exit. One man decided to stay behind as he had something private to discuss with their leader.

"Um… Miss Aina, what do we do with subject 369?" he said fearfully.

Frankly, they were all afraid of their leader. She was very powerful and ruthless when making decisions, so they always tread carefully in her presence.

Aina suddenly narrowed her eyes at the question.

Subject 369, a child Rahj had brought from one of his expeditions to monitor some of their foot soldiers, whose leader was proving troublesome.

When Rahj had reported about the boy, she thought he wasn't even human. Having such strength as a 5-year-old is impossible.

A beast would be understandable, but a human child? It was certainly unprecedented considering the state of this planet.

This had led her to believe that this child is very special, so she had sent Rahj off of this desolate planet, warning him to keep his mouth shut.

She was supposed to report to her higher up immediately after discovering a child like Alaric, but she couldn't let such an opportunity slip by her.

Children as talented as Alaric were meant to serve a greater purpose than blood draining.

Out of greed, she had kept it a secret from them and had been using his blood to further her research for a while now.

She had expected him to die during the first month, but to her pleasant surprise, he had survived for six months now. Other children only survive up to two weeks at most before their body gives out.

No, not just survived, he was thriving. The quality of blood he has been providing improves slightly every time he is drained.

Well, that is the purpose of the pit. To force the body to adapt to original energy, by infusing it in them, then draining the now origin-altered blood that has higher qualities than normal.

Alaric was a secret of hers that she would like to keep to herself, but the man had managed to find out, as he takes care of the pits from time to time.

"I already assigned my knight to transport him." She side-eyed him, "Don't speak of…"

*boooom*

She was rudely interrupted by the deafening sound of an explosion.

The man with her shrank like a scared animal.

Turning to the direction of the sound, she couldn't help but panic, "damn it, I thought he said we had 3 hours before he got here."
