Chapter 480 - Fate

With the C'Thraxxi slain, Aggramar, who had been struggling under its massive jaws, was finally rescued. However, he never imagined that his savior would be Sargeras—he would have preferred anyone else, even Kil'jaeden. Sargeras was the only one he found utterly unacceptable.

This was once the Titan he most respected and admired. Aggramar had followed Sargeras into countless battles for eons. From the establishment of the Pantheon to twenty-five thousand years ago, this invincible Titan was practically his only faith, like a god.

But Sargeras had betrayed them!

The collapse of his faith transformed Aggramar's feelings for Sargeras from admiration to hatred. The more he had admired him, the more he now loathed him.

If he were to express his opinion on the matter before him, he would definitely say to Sargeras: "I will not forgive you for this, nor will I thank you!"

However, Aggramar also thought self-deprecatingly that even if he did say that, the other party would probably dismiss it. Sargeras never needed his gratitude, much less any forgiveness.

He was an extremely proud and conceited being, and he would not tolerate anyone criticizing the path he had chosen, much less anyone hindering him!

At this moment, of the five Old Gods wreaking havoc on Silithus, only the last one remained—a slime monster capable of endlessly absorbing any offensive energy.

The deaths of its brethren had filled it with a deep sense of crisis. If it followed its instincts, it would have chosen to flee, but the Titan and the demon before it were the Old Gods' most desired enemies to eliminate. A voice in its mind constantly drove it to attack them, to tear them apart.

Once the Pantheon and the Burning Legion were destroyed, the Old Gods could corrupt the entire universe, and the true End Time would arrive!

The slime monster obeyed that will and launched an attack on Sargeras.

Although its nature was troublesome, it did not allow it to last any longer than its two brethren. Everything has its limits. Although Kil'jaeden's strongest spell had failed to kill it, that did not mean it could withstand Sargeras's attacks.

Sargeras once again swung his divine sword, and the blade sprayed out a burst of dark red, almost black, flames, which turned into sparks and landed on the slime monster. The enormous slime monster wailed, its body once again shattering into countless small puddles of sludge. This time, however, unlike the time it was attacked by Kil'jaeden, the sludge on the ground burned fiercely in the dark red flames, crackling and shrinking at a visible rate, finally turning to ashes.

The last Old God empowered by void energy had died just like that.

Seeing this scene, Eonar's expression became incredibly wary.

They had been fighting these empowered Old Gods all along and knew how troublesome they were, especially the giant serpent, which made it extremely difficult for her to cast healing spells. The strength of these Old Gods was almost equal to that of the Titans of their Pantheon.

But after Sargeras descended, he eliminated them with a single sword strike each, as easily as chopping melons and vegetables!

Did this mean that Sargeras could also kill the three Titans of the Pantheon without breaking a sweat?

It wasn't that Eonar didn't know Sargeras was powerful, but she had never truly been Sargeras's opponent, so she didn't have a direct understanding of Sargeras's true strength.

Now she realized it.

She suddenly felt how naive her actions of mocking and ostracizing Sargeras had been. If Sargeras hadn't chosen to leave the Pantheon and start his own faction back then, but had instead launched a real rebellion, wanting to cleanse from within—Eonar suddenly felt a chill—if that had happened, she would definitely have been Sargeras's first target to kill.

Indeed, Sargeras had not "betrayed" the Pantheon—he had simply disagreed with Aman'Thul and left the Pantheon to start his own faction.

This was also the biggest reason why the Pantheon had almost never had a direct conflict with the Burning Legion for the past twenty-five thousand years. However, in order to maintain the Pantheon's prestige, the Titans deliberately emphasized that Sargeras was a "traitor." Aman'Thul did not object to this statement, so it was naturally taken as tacit approval. Therefore, this also became the Pantheon's official conclusion.

With the three Old Gods slain, Sargeras completed the blood sacrifice to the "Gorshalach, the Dark Render."

Kil'jaeden stood respectfully beside Sargeras. As for the small matter of eliminating the Old Gods' minions, it could be left to the ordinary demons of the Legion; there was no need for him to personally take action. In this situation, as Sargeras's most loyal second-in-command, Kil'jaeden should of course serve at his master's side.

Eonar took this opportunity to quickly use a group healing spell to restore the injuries of Golganneth and Aggramar. Although she felt that if Sargeras launched an attack, their side would have absolutely no ability to resist, they were not lambs to the slaughter after all, and they still had to do what they had to do. In any case, they could not lose the Pantheon's prestige.

"Master," Kil'jaeden called out respectfully, bowing his head.

"Hmm," Sargeras responded.

"In this battle, our Legion has suffered a total loss of…" Kil'jaeden reported the Burning Legion's losses to Sargeras in a low voice.

Before these five Old Gods descended, the Burning Legion's main losses came from battles with the Pantheon. After that, the large-scale group spell cast by Eonar when she descended also caused a large number of casualties among the ordinary demons.

Hearing this, Eonar's heart sank. Seeing Sargeras cast his gaze down, although his face was expressionless, Eonar felt even more uneasy and secretly heightened her vigilance.

However, Sargeras did not speak to Eonar, but turned to look at Aggramar and asked, "Aggramar, I am about to embark on a great undertaking, and your talents will be put to use here with me. What do you say? Come to my side and complete this great cause together."

"Impossible!" Aggramar blurted out. "I will not become an accomplice to your evil deeds! I will do everything in my power to stop you!"

"Evil deeds?" Sargeras sneered. He raised the divine sword "Gorshalach" in his hand. "This sword, you should be very familiar with it, shouldn't you?"

Aggramar had long noticed the sword in Sargeras's hand. Faced with the other party's question, he could only remain silent.

"Gorshalach, the Dark Render, my sword, the most powerful weapon in the universe! Let me think, what did the Pantheon say? This is a weapon of justice, it will never fight for evil—so after I left the Pantheon, it broke into two."

The second half of what Sargeras said was like reciting from a book, because that was the Pantheon's conclusion about "Gorshalach": Aggramar's Flame Ripper only followed justice, while Sargeras, after his betrayal, only held the broken sword "Dark Seether," because the latter was not so particular about stance?

This was undoubtedly a ridiculous statement, but that did not prevent the vast majority of people from believing it.

Sargeras asked Aggramar in a mocking tone, "Now that this sword has been reunited and has fully recovered its former power, doesn't that mean it is now a sword of justice? Then how could the person who wields it stand on the side of evil and use it to accomplish evil deeds?"

A sword, after all, is not a person; how can it represent a person's alignment and morality? But the three Titans of the Pantheon were indeed speechless. Sargeras had just used this sword to kill three Old Gods, which was equivalent to saving the Pantheon and all the mortals of Silithus. Was such an undertaking not just?

"Sophistry!" Aggramar couldn't argue, and could only respond with anger and stubbornness.

Sargeras sneered, "What you say is truth, and what I say is sophistry?"

Without waiting for Aggramar to respond, Sargeras held up his sword and said, "Then today, I will use my way to reason with you!"

He raised the Dark Render and stabbed it towards Aggramar. The speed of this strike was not so fast that it exceeded Aggramar's reaction limit, but it gave him a feeling that he could not dodge it at all.

Aggramar the Avenger had long understood the characteristics of the Dark Render thoroughly. This sword ignored any means of defense and could not be dodged by any means. Once launched, it would inevitably hit its target.

He felt extremely unwilling in his heart, but he also felt a pessimistic emotion of resignation, because he knew that he would definitely not be able to avoid it.

Even if it were replaced by Dimensional Ripper Dimensius, an expert in escape, even if Dimensius were in a position where he could perform phase transitions at any time, he would not be able to avoid the Dark Render's attack, even if he escaped from the real world to the Twisting Nether, that attack would completely ignore the constraints of time and space.

Fortunately, Dimensius was very aware of this, so he never gave the other party a chance to lock onto him and launch an attack.

And Aggramar had obviously been locked on.

As for Dimensius—this infamous "World Eater" who had roamed the universe for hundreds of thousands of years—his fate was even worse than Aggramar being locked on by the Dark Render—previously, he had been imprisoned in a mana-forge built on a large void rift in Icecrown Glacier.

Just as he was trapped in the ethereal pipeline and unable to use phase shift, Aiden led a group of incredibly powerful guardians to teleport in and launch a final attack on this void lord in a jar.

The result was obvious—

After losing the ability to phase shift, Dimensius was equivalent to a large meat shield. He had a lot of health and decent defense, and even came with a taunt skill, but unfortunately, without the cooperation of the phase shift ability, his attack power was really average.

Therefore, he was just a meat shield, with very little threat, and could almost only be passively beaten.

In the classic storyline, Dimensius was the kind of character who had a super powerful background, but could only play a supporting role, and couldn't even enter a dungeon. He was also trapped in an ethereal pipeline of a mana-forge in Outland, and was killed by the Consortium's ethereals and adventurers. That team was quite strong, but compared to the team led by Aiden, it was simply not worth mentioning.

This was a team composed of a Supreme Authority Titan, a god-level hero, a demigod-level hero, a guardian, and a legendary hero, qualified to face the challenge of any strong enemy in the universe.

So Dimensius's fate was destined to have only one outcome—and that was death!
