Today at Sobu High School was a special day: exams. Some of the otaku in the class, including Kakeru Tobe and the others, were wailing in despair.
"It's over, there's an exam today!"
"I'm not prepared at all!"
"Hayato, we're good friends, right?"
"Yeah, what is it?" Hayato Hayama looked at them, confused.
"Then please fail with us!"
Hayato's face froze. What on earth are you guys talking about?
"Haha, I'm just kidding. But I'm nervous. Hayato, is there any effective way to cram for a test?"
Unlike them, Renji felt no pressure at all. In fact, he had never slacked off in his studies. Sure, there were some relaxed moments, but he wasn't panicking. He was used to studying with Shiina Mashiro and Yukinoshita Yukino. Both were the top students in their class, and he was the second best, while Sumireko Sanshikiin was the best in humanities. It was hard not to be excellent in such an environment.
"Renji, the exam is right around the corner. Is there a way to improve my grade quickly?" Yuigahama Yui came over and looked at him hopefully.
Renji flinched. He had almost forgotten. Yui was accepted into Sobu High School by luck. When she received the acceptance letter, even her mother was surprised. After school started, she only cared about playing, being Miura Yumiko's companion, and being a chatterbox to Yukino. She listened in class, but often daydreamed. That was the most common behavior of students who were lazy to study.
Facing Yui's question, Renji thought for a moment. "Cheating. Make a cheat sheet."
Yui's face immediately paled. She pouted, glaring at him. "I would never do such a thing! If I get caught, it would be so embarrassing!"
Renji shrugged. "Then there's no other way. You can only read the textbook once, memorize the key points. Maybe your grade will be better."
If you didn't work hard, now you could only rely on personal talent. "It seems that's the only way," Yui said, sighing, then went to study obediently. Maybe she was just looking for a reason to start a conversation. Renji didn't mind if a beautiful girl wanted to get close to him.
Unlike the nervous Yui, Miura Yumiko seemed very calm. Don't be fooled by her makeup and queen-like attitude. She would always review her lessons after going home. Because of that, her grades were always at the top. She was never in danger of failing. Since she was excellent in everything, she could be the center of her social circle.
The morning exams were over. The atmosphere shifted to the Volunteer Club.
"Let's check the answers!" Yui exclaimed excitedly.
Yukinoshita looked at her in confusion. "Why are you doing something so useless?"
"Uh, how can it be useless? If we check, won't we be more confident?"
Yukinoshita had a strange expression. "I'm first in the class, isn't that enough to be confident? Renji is second, and we studied together. He was very fast in answering and his accuracy rate was 100%," she said, then looked at Yuki Suou.
Yuki shook her hair. "In my old school, even though I wasn't number one, I was always in the top ten. I'm not worried at all."
Sumireko added, "I'm good at humanities, but the others are not a problem either. I guarantee I won't fail."
Yui's face immediately turned gloomy. "So, I'm the only one in this club who is in danger of failing?"
"More accurately," Renji said bluntly, "in your small circle, you're the only one in danger of failing. Yumiko and Hina Ebina will review their lessons after going home. Yui, what do you do after you go home? Play on your phone?"
Yui scratched her cheek. "I didn't know they had a study habit. We, never talked about that topic."
Yukinoshita rolled her eyes. "As a Sobu High School student, shouldn't there be an awareness to study? How did you even get in here? Do you think you're a top student?"
Yui touched the back of her head, even more embarrassed. "Even my mom asked if the school made a mistake when she saw my acceptance letter."
The atmosphere was silent for a moment.
Renji held back his laughter. "Luck is also a strength, Yui. Don't worry too much about grades."
Yui looked sad. "How can I not care? If I fail, I have to take tutoring until I graduate! No fun on weekends, I have to keep studying!"
Yukinoshita rolled her eyes. "If you know that, why didn't you study hard?"
"And, I think it's better if you don't check the answers. Anyway..." Yui lowered her head, frustrated. In a club full of top students, she was the only low achiever. If she checked, she would be the only one who was disappointed and nervous.
Renji sighed and patted Yui's shoulder. "What's there to be afraid of if you fail? At worst, you take tutoring. With our class president, Yukinoshita, here, are you still afraid that your grades won't improve?"
"But, the president is very strict. Think carefully if you want to be tutored by her," Renji joked.
Yukinoshita cooperated with a cold smile. "If you want to be tutored by me, be prepared to be scolded."
Yui was not afraid. She even clenched her fists. "I will work hard!" She might have seen that behind Yukino's cold demeanor was a soft heart.
After the afternoon exams, Renji tidied up his books and went to the Volunteer Club. With the teachers' ability at Sobu High School, the results might come out tomorrow. He wasn't panicking. Yui was the only one who was in danger of failing. Who told Miss Tuanzi to only care about playing?
When Renji arrived, only Yukinoshita was inside. He felt a little uncomfortable.
"Strange, didn't Yui bother you? I remember she ran away after the exam."
"She was dragged to the library by Sumireko and Yuki Suho to help."
Yukinoshita realized her mistake and immediately wanted to get up. "There's nothing to do today, just go home, Whoa!"
But Renji had already closed the door and carried her. He sat down on the chair and placed Yukinoshita on his lap.
"Who said there's nothing to do, Yukino? I have a task, and I want you to complete it alone."
