Watching The Cohort go on the hunt, Arthur thought to himself, 'That monkey Devil killed four out of the ten Ascended that arrived with the city lord before he could intervene once the sky covered the Sun.'
Looking at the Ascended fighting the Corrupted Demon, he thought to himself, 'Can they beat it before those idiots die in their stupid hunt?'
Arthur sighed and thought to himself, 'If I didn't intervene in the nightmare, would the City Lord have rescued them and killed the Corrupted Devil? The reason the Devil expected the City Lord and got backup was probably because it took Abner days to get to the city.'
Thinking more about it, Arthur blamed himself more. 'The City Lord would have arrived unexpectedly after he discovered the situation in minutes, not giving the Devil any time to run away or group up. The reason they stayed captured so long and are now hunting that devil is that I intervened.'
Arthur sighed and looked at his friends, muttering, "How are you idiots even planning to hunt in True darkness? You can't see anything!"
Watching the cohort from above the Grey Fog using divination made it possible for him to hear their conversations, and he intuitively knew their general location relative to the City Lord and the Goblin, a Corrupted Devil.
Not like it was hard to tell the City Lord wasn't exactly silent in the battle against the Corrupted Tyrant and the Devil.
And the goblin made many angry and annoyed sounds as it failed to use its mind control abilities.
The ability it got replaced with was one that greatly enhanced the effects of the plants he personally planted.
As the cohort moved close to each other towards the Corrupted Devil, they got spotted by it before they could even get as close as 10 meters.
The Devil smiled and said, "How wonderful you guys came back. As long as those Ascended don't die, I won't have to worry about the nightmare ending for a while, so I can take my time trying to escape this nightmare."
The cohort froze, and Alec asked, stunned, "You know you are in a nightmare!?"
The Corrupted Devil just chuckled as lightning illuminated the forest they were in, revealing that the Small Goblin was preparing to jump at them.
Kaelen's eyes widened as he yelled while getting out of the way, "EVERYONE DODGE!"
They barely managed to avoid getting grabbed by the Corrupted Devil, and that only because the true darkness made it hard to pinpoint their exact position while they were dodging.
Naamah tsked as she thought, 'That bright meat shield would have been useful right now. Why did he have to die right before this?! the nerve!'
The cohort all agreed that until they found him, he was assumed dead since he was the only one missing among them.
And so while they were dodging the Corrupted Devil, unable to land a single blow, the Devil made idle conversation; he knew they wouldn't be able to keep dodging like this for much longer—it was mostly due to luck that they even managed to last so long.
"Kekekeke, why are you running? Weren't you the ones chasing after me? I'm right here!"
Arthur watched this for a few minutes well listened since he couldn't see in true darkness, and then sighed in relief as the Ascended killed the koala-looking Corrupted Demon, and the City Lord ordered them to help kill the Goblin.
While the Ascended were rushing over to help his friends, Arthur, remembering he was a seer, made a divination: 'My friends are going to be safe.'
The result was negative; this meant his friends were in danger.
Arthur frowned as he looked at the cohort of Awakened and Ascended easily dealing with the corrupted Devil.
The goblin was weak physically and didn't know how to use its new ability, not to mention it was missing a leg and couldn't see in true darkness while the Ascended could.
Soon enough it was captured, and an Ascended asked, "What are you and the rest of these corrupted planning? Who is attacking the cities?"
They didn't expect an answer, but it didn't hurt to ask.
The goblin chuckled and said, "Why bother responding? You all will die anyway; it's not like any of you are truly living, so it doesn't matter anyway."
Alec heard the goblin and asked before the Ascended could kill him, "All of us dying? What do you mean by that?"
The goblin smiled, and his next words made the Ascended freeze: "The city should be getting destroyed by now, and even if it doesn't, in three days my boss is coming here. He's a Great Tyrant."
Arthur's eyes widened as he checked on Abner; he saw him on the City Walls looking in the distance where thousands of Nightmare Creatures were making their way towards the city from the direction of the nearby cities that were probably taken over by them.
Arthur cursed, "It had to be now of all times. The city lord and all the Ascended are out of the city!"
Arthur immediately informed the city lord and gritted his teeth, thinking, 'I shouldn't have told the city lord of the Corrupted Creatures location. If he was in the City He could deal with those weaklings in less then an hour!'
Looking at the still injured City Lord, Arthur noticed that the small legs it used to run on air were damaged, some having been cut off, making the City Lord slower.
It was clear that he was losing slowly.
Arthur cursed Weaver in his heart, 'Damnit! The city lord can't disengage while he's slowed down this much; he will have to kill those Corrupted before he can get back to the city! Weaver, you bastard, is this your doing!? lowly demon, no wonder no one liked you!'
Looking at the Ascended who were going to help the city lord, Arthur wondered, 'Will they manage to kill them and go back in time?'
Arthur watched the City Lord battle the Corrupted Tyrant and Corrupted Devil with the help of his Ascended soldiers with bated breath.
But his expression turned grim as the battle ended with the Corrupted Tyrant and Devil dead, the City Lord collapsing unconscious, and three more Ascended dying.
It had already turned dark by now. The day was over, and although they tried to end the battle fast, the Monkey Devil and the Tyrant were stalling for time, making the battle last about 8 hours.
'Without the city lord, it will take days to come back to the city,' Arthur thought, and Abner prayed to him at that moment, asking if the city lord was coming back.
Arthur sighed and gave him a vision of the end of the fight when the City Lord bit the neck of the Chimera-like Tyrant, taking heavy blows and blasting it with his breath before collapsing unconscious.
Abner nodded with his expression grim and asked if the rest of the cohort was fine.
Arthur gave him a vision of them looking at the moon, talking among themselves, and the three remaining Ascended.
Abner sighed in relief as he switched his watch duty with someone else and then prayed to Arthur again to sleep in the grey fog since he still didn't know where he lived.
Abner thought to himself, 'The nightmare creatures should arrive tomorrow night. It should take the Ascended at least 3 days to arrive, but the nightmare creatures outnumber us 3 to 1, and they have Fallen-ranked creatures among them.'
Abner wondered as he fell asleep, 'Can we last a day against them? If only they didn't have that corrupted Beast with them...'
Watching Abner sleep, Arthur briefly thought, 'Would it have been better if I did not interfere? With the nightmare creatures divided after destroying the city and killing the city lord, Abner and the rest wouldn't have as much trouble.'
Arthur briefly wondered if Abner would die because of him and then blinked, slapping his face as he sighed and thought, 'I can see the future, but I use that ability so little it's embarrassing to call myself a seer!'
Making a divination to see if Abner would die in the nightmare, the response was... unclear.
Arthur blinked as he thought, 'The Divination... failed!? No, it didn't. Was it interfered with?'
This was the first time a divination was interfered with; normally, when asking such a question, the answer was positive or negative, but this time it was both! So there had to be something wrong!
Arthur sighed, frustrated. 'Unable to do anything or even know anything, it's so frustrating!'
Deciding to see what his friends were up to so that he could forget about his frustration, Arthur, after watching them for a bit, had his expression turn fearful.
Alec was imitating a Cultivator in arrogance as he picked a fight with Kaelen, and the three Ascended took an interest in his strange way of talking.
Soon they were indoctrinated and brainwashed by Alec's cultivation stories, becoming infected by the cultivation brain rot!
Arthur shuddered as he thought, 'Even Ascended aren't immune to brain rot, it seems. What a powerful mental disease!'
However, his expression soon turned angry as Naamah joined in; he cursed Alec in his heart, 'Bastard, how dare you corrupt this pure, innocent angel!'
