Chapter 456 - Chapter 5: The Part-Time Warrior in a Tight Spot

If a normal child saw this eating style, they'd be too scared to sleep with the lights off for a week.

Cough. Anyway, though it was a bit of a mood-killer, Sū ěr couldn't help but think of something bizarre... For instance, feet are used for walking, which means they touch the ground... Um, do vampires sweat? Do they have dead skin? And the toes... and she just ate it all...

"Those who know, know." Thinking too much about it made him feel slightly nauseous. Sū ěr looked at the blonde child vampire with a strange expression. She had just consumed several times her body weight in mass, yet her stomach remained perfectly flat.

Then, in front of everyone, the blonde vampire performed a "growth miracle." In the span of a few seconds—hardly a few blinks of an eye—she transformed from a child into a... young girl.

She clearly looked three or four years older.

To be honest, Sū ěr had only seen this kind of "Digimon-style" evolution and de-evolution in Jibril. But Jibril was a pure energy being; she could take any form she desired.

Vampires weren't energy beings, were they?!

The vampires from his previous world didn't have this ability, even though their powers were even more "broken" .

"Heiya, heiya~ don't worry about small things~" Jibril unceremoniously plopped down next to Sū ěr and bumped his arm with her shoulder. Likely due to her excessive energy consumption, the Flügel was still in her "child" state, so her "shoulder bump" landed on Sū ěr forearm instead. "Shouldn't you say something?! Mm-hm~ say something quickly!"

"Say some... ah, welcome. It's truly been a while." Sū ěr didn't catch Jibril hint at first, but he soon understood. He turned to her with a sincere smile. "Though this welcome and thanks are a bit late, it's truly thanks to you. Otherwise, Think and I would likely have died there, right?"

It wasn't empty flattery; Sū ěr was genuinely moved. If Amaterasu hadn't been curious about another world; if she hadn't kindly gathered the divine power Sū ěr left behind while breaking the world barrier; if Jibril hadn't arrived at the most critical moment... he might have had to choose a path of mutual destruction with Amaterasu, with no guarantee that Think would survive.

"A-ha! Ahaha! Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!"

Sū ěr thanks were sincere, but he didn't expect Jibril to burst into a maniacal laughter.

It was as if she'd won a billion-dollar lottery. Jibril joy was beyond ecstatic; it felt like she'd been waiting for this moment for thousands of years. She literally floated into the air, clutching her stomach and rolling over in mid-air.

On the other hand, Think reaction was the exact opposite. The Elf's face was dark—don't ask how you could see a dark face on a translucent soul, Sū ěr just could!

"Hahahaha! Weed! Stupid Weed! You heard that, right?!" Jibril was laughing so hard she could barely speak. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she grinned with an exaggerated expression. "See? See! I told you Sū ěr is the one who sees the truth! See! He said it was thanks to me that you survived! Haha, hahahaha!"

Jibril continued to laugh triumphantly. For her, this was her first major victory over the Elf in over a decade in a field other than physical combat. When their battles were limited to words, she almost never won against the sharp-tongued, genius Think. Managing a "narrowly not defeated" result was considered impressive.

But now—a glorious victory!

Sū ěr had personally admitted that Think wouldn't have survived without her!

Satisfaction. Jibril felt immense satisfaction.

As for Sū ěr... he saw the murderous intent flashing in Think eyes. The Elf's fingers were already poised to pinch his waist.

He wanted to say something, but Jibril had done something incredibly important... so Sū ěr chose to stay silent. He would try his best not to be forced into picking a side.

Um... I should probably say something else. Say anything to save myself.

"So, he is...?" Pointing a finger at the black-haired high schooler, Sū ěr continued, "What's their situation? This boy should be an ordinary human, right? Wait, that doesn't seem right."

Sū ěr realized that within this short time, another "difficult to define" existence had appeared.

A person, but not entirely. The other aura inside him... Is that a vampire? But he feels different from the blonde girl over there.

Oh, she's a blonde teenager now.

"He was human a few days ago, but not anymore," Think said nonchalantly. "To keep that vampire alive, I obviously wasn't going to use your blood. So, I used this human who happened to be at the scene."

Sū ěr was speechless. The amount of information in Think brief sentences was overwhelming.

"Don't worry. To avoid ruining that 'Ordinary Human' life you so carefully constructed, I didn't take them to the apartment we rented. This is an abandoned building; almost no one comes here... which means anyone who does come is an enemy."

Sū ěr: "..."

Wait, hold on. Why 'enemies' again? Where are all these enemies coming from?

Sū ěr felt a headache coming on.

"They're just some insignificant ants. I can crush them whenever I want~ Don't worry about it~" Jibril flew down and slapped Sū ěr on the shoulder.

"That is the one thing I agree with Monster Miss on," Think nodded. "Actually, we've just been waiting for you to wake up to decide how to handle them..."

Think gaze swept over Araragi Koyomi and the blonde vampire, then she remembered something.

"By the way, it's been several months since we left. If I recall correctly, it's about time to pay the rent again, isn't it?"

Sū ěr: "..."

Now that truly is bad news.
