"You bastard!" Xavier roared from behind. He lunged forward, but Magnus caught him by the arm, pulling him back.
"Not now, Beta Xavier..." Magnus's voice was a low rumble, his intense eyes never leaving Damien.
I shook my head, blinking back the burning tears forming in my eyes. My chest heaved rapidly to contain my overwhelming emotions.
"That's not true…" I whispered breathlessly. "You loved me—"
Damien's low chuckle cut through my heart like a sharp blade, silencing me. He arched his brows.
"Loved you?" he mocked, a smirk playing on his lips. "You think an Alpha like me would lower himself for someone like you?"
The words struck me like daggers, each syllable slicing deeper than the last. My vision blurred, and my legs felt like they were about to give out.
