My lips parted slightly. I was about to argue, to deny everything Gideon and Wilhelm had said.
But then a sudden wail shattered the silence.
Hiyasmin...
She ran toward us, tears streaming down her face, her tiny hands clenched into fists.
"Mommy..."
Sarah gasped the moment she heard Hiyasmin. She immediately knelt and gathered her daughter into her arms.
Gideon immediately rose to his feet.
"H-Hiyasmin, w-what happened?" Sarah asked shakily, stroking her daughter's hair.
But Hiyasmin just sobbed against her mother's chest, unable to get the words out.
Before I could react or say anything, two more figures came stumbling toward us—Daemond and Ksaver. Both boys were crying, their faces streaked with dirt. Their small bodies seemed to tremble as they sobbed, and they didn't stop running until they reached me, crashing into my arms.
