I stumbled through the hospital corridors. I didn't know where I was going—I just knew I had to keep moving, away from everything I had caused.
I found myself outside, the cool night air caressing my tear-streaked face. The hospital's front garden was quiet, save for the soft rustle of leaves in the breeze. I sank onto a bench beneath a towering oak tree, my head cradled in my hands.
"I'm so sorry."
My chest heaved with silent sobs as I whispered, "Magnus… Xavier… Damien… I'm so sorry."
The moonlight filtered through the branches above. I raised my head to look at it, remembering the Moon Goddess who had dictated so much of my life since I was thrust into this world. Now, it seemed to mock me.
"I never asked for this," I said aloud, my voice shaking. "Why me? Why them?"
