Mancini's POV
I watched as Marie left the dining hall for the bathroom. Pathetic little thing. She would spend the whole night scrubbing at that dress. I turned my attention to Deanna, who was smiling evilly.
"That was clever of you. Now we are finally alone," she said.
I snorted and drank all the wine in my glass in one gulp.
"What do you want?" I asked, pouring another in my cup.
"The Genovesse family is very powerful. For years, we have had many branches, and I am sure I have family members that I don't know of. And once in a while, we call this whole gathering where all of us come together. We can marry ourselves too because for years, hundreds, the family tree has grown so much that we are barely related anymore," she said.
"Is this why you sent them all away? To share your family history with me?" I asked.
