This never happened in the book, Eden thought. At least it never happened this way.
Something similar was Elvis receiving some punishment on behalf of his lover, Helen. And it was supposed to be a romantic scene for them.
But this particular scene never happened. It was as though it all popped up because of Eden. And this made him feel bad.
"That fool... Why does he have to bend down to whatever they say..." Eden mumbled "Is he only smart when he's with me or what?"
He knew he couldn't stand by and watch. It was impossible for someone as hot-headed as him. Especially since he believed it was because of him.
Eden knew he had to step in. Somehow.
He spoke within himself. Speaking to Lenny "I need your assistance"
"Just give your order and I'll assist" Lenny spoke to his mind as Eden nodded. He was ready to do something. Anything.
Even though it meant breaking the planned lie he and Elvis had made in front of his family.
