Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Double Tomoe Right from the Start?

The chakra within his body finally started flowing normally again, and that previous feeling of being devoured had disappeared.

Saitama knew it—he was definitely about to awaken the Sharingan!

With a thought, the world became much clearer, and a sense of mastery over everything surged into his mind.

Walking to the washroom, Saitama looked at himself in the mirror.

"Double tomoe?"

His bangs hung loosely to one side as he stared, puzzled, at his pale face reflected back.

And within those sharp, crimson eyes, two perfectly symmetrical tomoe markings now sat beside each pupil.

Awakening with double tomoe already—was that normal?

Not bad at all.

A faint smirk curled his lips before he deactivated the Sharingan.

Seemed like his chakra reserves were quite impressive. Even with double tomoe, activating the Sharingan didn't feel the least bit strenuous.

Judging by this, his chakra levels must be at least equivalent to a Chunin's. Otherwise, such ease wouldn't be possible.

So his natural talent really was something special—no harsh conditions limiting its awakening, no traumatic experiences needed—just straight activation.

At this rate, unlocking the Mangekyou Sharingan later should follow the same smooth process.

As long as his chakra reaches the necessary threshold, everything will just fall naturally into place.

Indeed, having the ultimate keystone ability wasn't an exaggeration.

Thinking this through, Saitama felt even more motivated to grow stronger.

Soon, taking down Madara and dominating the Shinobi World shouldn't be a problem anymore!

This sudden awakening also eased some of the pressure Saitama had been feeling about not knowing how to progress forward.

The double-tomoe Sharingan alone would keep him developing for quite some time.

Today had been exhausting, but successfully awakening the Sharingan left him completely satisfied.

As a member of the Uchiha clan, Saitama had considered his future options.

After all, tensions between the Uchiha and Konoha had been brewing for a long time. The Nine-Tails incident years later would only escalate these conflicts toward their peak.

Presently, only two choices lay before Saitama: stand with Konoha alongside Shisui and Itachi, or stand with Uchiha clan and overthrow Konoha itself!

But not everyone actually gets to choose. Thinking about Danzo hiding in the shadows and Third Hokage Sarutobi leading openly on the surface,

Saitama realized he had little choice but to align with the Uchiha.

Some conflicts couldn't be mediated—taking sides was unavoidable.

Still, for Saitama right now, these concerns were somewhat premature. For the moment, what mattered most was focusing on improving his strength.

...

After awakening the Sharingan, Saitama's chakra resumed steady growth again. Naturally, he refused to waste valuable class time.

Up front, the instructor lectured nonstop, spraying saliva like a machine gun targeting the front row. Meanwhile, comfortably seated in the very last row, Saitama focused on cultivating chakra.

Iruka sat beside Saitama, fully attentive to the teacher's lecture and occasionally jotting down notes.

This was a theory class on ninja weapon throwing techniques.

"Next period, everyone come early to the training ground—we're having live practice today!"

The background character teacher set his book aside and announced to the entire classroom.

Theory is one thing, but practical training is also essential. With recent unrest growing across the shinobi world, getting hands-on combat training earlier could only benefit them.

"Got it, Teacher."

"Finally a hands-on class—awesome."

"Come on, Saitama," Iruka called out to Saitama Uchiha, who was still meditating with his eyes closed. Although he didn't know exactly what Saitama Uchiha was doing, it didn't look like he was sleeping.

"Hmm."

This time, the shuriken practical training wasn't using wooden shurikens anymore; they were now using real ones.

The students' enthusiasm flared up again.

"There will be a shuriken-throwing test shortly. Everyone can prepare in advance."

After saying that, the nobody teacher stepped aside and let the students practice freely.

Saitama Uchiha casually picked up a shuriken, looped his finger through the center hole, and started spinning it lazily.

"Hey, you from the Uchiha clan!"

A Hyuga boy with Byakugan approached Saitama Uchiha.

His clear white eyes were extremely pure, yet now they were filled with arrogance as he stared down at Saitama Uchiha—even though he was slightly shorter than him.

"What is it?"

Saitama Uchiha knew the Uchiha and Hyuga Clans had never gotten along well, but he hadn't expected someone would come looking for him to pick a fight.

Saitama Uchiha kept a stoic face, though he couldn't figure out why this Hyuga had come looking for him specifically.

"Wanna have a little competition during the test?"

Tokuma Hyuga raised his head proudly and issued a challenge to Saitama Uchiha.

"Sure, just don't cry later."

Saitama Uchiha felt he'd been too low-key at school—now even minor clowns dared to poke the bear.

"Teacher, let me take the test with Saitama Uchiha!"

The nobody teacher looked surprised at first upon seeing the child from the Hyuga family.

Considering the rival relationship between the two great clans, he soon understood.

Testing them together wouldn't necessarily be bad either, so he simply nodded in agreement.

He couldn't afford to antagonize anyone!

As far as the teacher was concerned, there wasn't anything particularly notable about Saitama Uchiha—he was just an ordinary student from the Uchiha Clan.

Who would've thought Tokuma Hyuga—who was already gaining some renown—would actually issue a challenge toward him?

In fact, Tokuma had originally wanted to challenge Uchiha Shisui, who had shown immense talent since the beginning of the school year. Unfortunately, Shisui had taken leave recently and hadn't attended class.

Thus, Tokuma had settled for second best, targeting another Uchiha in the class who was close friends with Shisui.

Tokuma wasn't worried about losing—he'd not only been practicing Gentle Fist techniques since childhood, but had also trained extensively with kunai and shurikens.

Before long, the teacher gathered everyone and prepared to begin the test.

The first pair would be Saitama Uchiha and Tokuma Hyuga.

"This time, there are ten targets total: two stationary targets and three moving targets at ten meters; two stationary targets and two moving targets at fifteen meters; finally, one moving target at twenty meters."

"For this exam, full marks are ten points. Each hit earns one point!"

After announcing the rules, the teacher signaled that Saitama Uchiha and Tokuma Hyuga could begin.

Reaching toward the gear bag strapped to his thigh, Saitama Uchiha stared at the targets fifty meters away.

The moment he awakened his Sharingan, his observational abilities received a dramatic boost—especially his motion vision.

Even without activating the Sharingan, his abilities were already at the limit of human potential.

Slowly drawing out two shuriken, Saitama Uchiha planted his feet firmly on the ground, lowered his center of gravity, and braced himself for maximum power.

*Ding!*

"Clang!"

Two thuds rang out. Tokuma Hyuga, standing next to Saitama, threw first and hit the two nearest stationary targets.

"Hmph!"

Tokuma turned his head slightly, smirking arrogantly.

"Woah! The Hyuga clan is really amazing!"

"No wonder they're from such a prestigious family!"

Some students exclaimed in surprise.

Just now, Tokuma had thrown two shuriken in an instant, both landing precisely at the center of their targets.

The teacher nodded approvingly as well. Tokuma did show great talent.

Saitama couldn't stand that kind of mockery though and acted immediately himself.

His movements were smooth and textbook perfect.

"Clang!" "Clang!"

Both landed dead center too!

"Woah! This guy from the Uchiha clan isn't bad either!"

"Luck probably. We've never seen him this good before."

"Let's keep watching!"

The onlookers voiced their opinions.

Saitama continued without hesitation, unwilling to let Tokuma show off any further.

He yanked five shuriken out of his gear bag and launched them—all hitting dead center!

Tokuma paled. Being able to throw five shuriken simultaneously and have all hit true was something he himself could never pull off!

What's more, three of those targets were moving!

Tokuma decided to aim for those three moving targets first before thinking about the rest.

He drew three shuriken, inspecting each one before taking aim. Then he readied himself to throw.

"Clang!"

"Clang!"

"Clang!"

Suddenly, silence fell.

Confused, Tokuma looked around.

Everyone nearby was stunned by what Saitama had just done, even the teacher wore an expression of shock.

It turned out that right when Tokuma was preparing to hit the three closest moving targets, Saitama had already thrown three more shuriken.

But this time, instead of throwing them all at once, he tossed them one after another within an extremely short interval.

That wouldn't be particularly impressive normally—it wasn't technically difficult.

However, the shuriken Saitama launched struck each other mid-air sequentially before finally embedding themselves into their respective targets simultaneously.

Two targets fifteen meters away, and one moving target twenty meters distant.

Tokuma lowered his hands still holding the shuriken, but his fists remained clenched tightly.

Now he finally got what Saitama Uchiha had meant by "Don't cry later!"

A deep sense of humiliation burned inside him.

Without sparing Tokuma so much as a glance, Saitama turned and walked away.

At that moment, he realized only the strong earn real respect!

Getting stronger isn't about hiding in the shadows forever.

The surrounding crowd began whispering amongst themselves—unprepared for the fact that ordinary-looking Saitama Uchiha actually possessed such a refined [Shuriken-throwing technique].

Even the instructor examined the targets embedded with shuriken and shook his head.

This sort of [Shuriken-throwing technique]? He honestly admitted to himself he'd never achieve that level.

In other words, judging purely by this demonstration of shuriken-throwing ability, Saitama Uchiha stood clearly above him!

Never thought I'd get him so wrong. Looks like you really can't underestimate anyone from the Uchiha clan!

Clutching the shuriken tightly in his hand, Tokuma Hyuga's face was filled with unwillingness.

"Ninjutsu tools are just minor tricks. I will definitely defeat you head-on! Saitama Uchiha!"

Tokuma Hyuga made up his mind, tucked the shuriken back into his gear bag, and walked off too.

"Saitama! Never thought you'd be this amazing!"

Iruka circled around Saitama, his face glowing with happiness.

Since Saitama was so incredible, as his good friend, he could ask for advice anytime. Through constant interaction, maybe his own throwing techniques could become just as impressive.

"Nothing special really. Want to learn? I can teach you!"

In a good mood, Saitama replied with a smile.

That event taught Saitama something — hiding your skills just makes people underestimate you. You've got to show off a little to get real respect.

Saitama pretty much tuned out the rest of the test. However, the best score achieved afterward was only eight points. Nobody managed to hit those final moving targets.

It really made his classmates see Saitama in a whole new light—again.

After all, not only did Saitama hit every single target, but the last few difficult ones were struck with particularly exquisite skill.

The last class of the day covered the Three Basic Jutsu.

Saitama had already mastered these simple beginner-level techniques a month ago.

After flawlessly demonstrating them for the teacher, Saitama went back to his usual spot at the very back and resumed his own training.

Iruka kept firing astonished questions at him, but Saitama wasn't distracted at all.

Saitama realized he was steadily leaving his classmates in the dust. Perhaps only Shisui could keep up with his pace now.

He wondered where Shisui had been all this time while he was away on leave. He hadn't been seen around the Uchiha clan compound at all.
