Chapter 180 - Chapter 180: Assist Me

Hello readers , I am imploring you to kindly support my account. Rene_chan2, if you love the story it's chapters ahead and a motivation to me since I lost all my members.

Kishibe pushed the door open and walked in. She didn't see that Renji was also there and walked towards another empty seat.

Her high heels clicked, sounding very capable and elegant. With each step, her loose hair swayed slightly back and forth, gently rustling, as she sat down.

After sitting down, Kishibe pulled out a portable stainless steel flask from her pocket, skillfully opened the cap, and brought the mouth to her lips to drink. A waiter emerged from the kitchen, menu in hand, and walked towards Kishibe.

"Captain Kishibe?"

Renji's call startled the Shark Fiend under the table. Her small hand immediately retracted, and she quickly submerged back into the ground.

Kishibe was talking to the waiter. Upon hearing Renji's voice, she paused slightly, but the next second she continued her conversation with the waiter as if nothing had happened, pretending not to hear.

Seeing the waiter leave, Renji simply stood up and walked towards Kishibe's seat.

"Captain Kishibe? It really is you! What a coincidence, can I join your table?"

Kishibe acted very coldly, as if deliberately keeping her distance from Renji. She merely glanced at him, and regarding his words, she only nodded slightly in agreement, uttering a simple "Mm."

"Ding~ Detected Kishibe's troubled emotions. System rewards 10 points."

Renji could also sense Kishibe's unusual attitude. Through the system, he felt that Kishibe seemed to be intentionally or unintentionally keeping a certain distance from him.

However, it was understandable. Kishibe's status in Public Safety was equivalent to Makima's, just responsible for different duties. She must also know that Renji is male.

And it's highly likely she knows that Renji has a special ability against women in this world—if physical contact exceeds three seconds, their minds become a mess. Just hearing Renji's voice or seeing his face would likely cause some reaction, which is why she acted this way.

"It should still be a while until lunchtime, right? You dare to slack off and skip work at this time? Be careful, I'll deduct your salary."

Kishibe said to Renji, and as she spoke, she poked the floor with the heel of her high heel.

"Shark Fiend, you've already left your work area, and your current behavior is on the verge of being out of control. If I were serious, I could deal with you right now."

A whimper came from under the floor, and then a hand emerged from the floor, tightly grabbing Renji's pant leg.

"Ding~ Detected Shark Fiend's fear. System rewards 20 points."

Renji was stunned.

"Huh? But isn't Captain Kishibe also slacking off in the restaurant just like me?"

Kishibe held her flask, crossed her legs, and looked out the window.

"Our identities and responsibilities are different. My break time is different from yours. 12 PM is lunchtime, but for me, it's work time. It seems Makima has been very lenient with you, not even telling you about this."

Renji didn't know what to say; he really didn't know this.

Makima's instruction to him was simply to ensure the safety of his patrol area and promptly resolve any sudden Devil incidents. Even if he didn't encounter any, police officers would notify him to go. Normally, it was fine to slack off a bit.

"However, considering your special circumstances, I won't fuss too much. Just tell me, does Makima have another request?"

Renji shook his head.

"It's not about Makima-san; I have a personal matter I'd like to ask about."

"Hmm, what is it?"

"I'd like to know if there's any way to contact the Darkness Devil. Public Safety should have relevant information, right?"

In Chainsaw Man Part 2, Public Safety has a cooperative relationship with the Aging Devil, who is a primal devil just like the Darkness Devil.

Currently, the highest-ranking Public Safety official Renji can access is Kishibe. Logically, she should know about this.

After Renji finished speaking, Kishibe showed no reaction, drinking her wine and looking out the window.

Renji thought Kishibe hadn't heard clearly, so he repeated himself.

"Is this aspect very difficult? Actually, it doesn't necessarily have to be the Darkness Devil. The Aging Devil is fine too, or any other primal devil."

Only then did Kishibe turn her head to look at Renji.

"Hmm, so it wasn't an auditory hallucination."

"Hey, whether it's an illusion or not, you should at least react, right?"

"No, primal devils are not something that can be simply described with ordinary words like 'devil' or 'monster.' Public Safety has extremely scarce records about them. Your idea will probably fall through."

Kishibe's reply was acceptable to Renji. After all, the existence of primal devils was too special. Under normal circumstances, ordinary Demon Hunters simply weren't qualified to know about such matters.

"Then... uh... can I exchange it for something else?"

Kishibe waved her hand and replied, "I already said, it's useless."

"Don't rush to refuse, just hear me out first. I'll tell you what happened in Tokyo and Kyoto before, and then explain the current situation outside, including why you've been trapped here and can't get out."

Kishibe, who was drinking, suddenly paused her hand movement. However, just like before, it was only for an instant, and then she continued to drink as usual, without saying a word throughout.

Then Renji blurted out everything about his experience with the Angel Devil, along with his conjectures. Of course, he omitted some intense "battle" scenes with the Angel Devil.

He talked for over half an hour, during which time the sushi arrived. The Shark Fiend hid under the table, devouring the sushi.

Kishibe finally spoke, interrupting Renji.

"Alright, stop talking. If there's really something wrong with your head, then you shouldn't be a Demon Hunter, or you'll die sooner or later."

With that, Kishibe shook the flask in her hand.

"Damn it, listening to your nonsense made my flask run dry so quickly."

Kishibe stood up and walked directly towards the sushi restaurant's counter.

"Excuse me, do you sell alcohol here?"

Renji sat opposite, first staring blankly at Kishibe's back, then shifting his gaze to the bustling crowd outside the window.

"Huh...? What's going on? Did I say something wrong? That shouldn't be the case, should it?"

After a short while, Kishibe returned. Her flask was gone, replaced by a pen and a notebook. She sat back down.

"What I just told you was serious. I hope you'll consider it carefully. Given your current condition, it's really not suitable for you to continue working as a Demon Hunter. And for Demon Hunters who choose to retire due to mental issues, our Public Safety office has corresponding subsidy policies."

Saying this, Kishibe wrote a line of text on the paper, crumpled it, and handed it to Renji.

Renji looked at it.

"Makima is eavesdropping on our conversation. Let's communicate on paper. I can agree to help you get in touch with the Darkness Devil, but I have one more condition: assist me in killing Makima."
