Two hours later.
In the bathroom, Cosmo screamed, her body continuously ascending to heaven. Her most sensitive core was perfectly filled by Renji.
A large amount of fluid gushed out through the crevices, making soft, wet sounds as it spilled onto the tiled floor.
Her eyeballs kept rolling upwards. Eventually, she lost consciousness completely, slipping off Renji and landing on the floor.
The heat radiating from him was intense. His form swayed slightly, a terrifying sight in the dim light.
He released the last of himself, the evidence of their encounter spilling onto Cosmo's lower back.
"Hmm, compensation complete," Renji stated flatly. "Are you satisfied?"
Cosmo didn't reply, but her body twitched in a final spasm. Renji took that as confirmation.
Her form gradually shrank, and Cosmo reverted to her fiji cup appearance. Renji turned on the shower and began to wash. After drying off, he changed into his Public Safety uniform and went out.
When Renji found the Angel Devil, she was lazily lying on a long wooden bench in the park.
Her legs were spread wide, her hands casually resting on the back of the chair. Her huge wings were fully spread out, occupying the entire bench by herself.
Renji could tell she had been in this position for a long time. Her body had shifted down considerably, almost as if she was about to fall off the wooden bench.
It was already night, with stars twinkling in the sky. Angel Devil lay with her head tilted back, idly counting them one by one.
She noticed Renji had arrived but still showed no reaction. If she hadn't lazily retracted one wing to make a small space for him, gesturing for him to sit down, Renji would have thought she was dead.
Sitting down, Renji imitated her, also looking up at the stars.
"Hey," he began. "What are you doing here?"
Angel Devil had no energy at all. Her voice was flat. "Do you even need to ask about something like this? Of course, I'm slacking off during a work break. Actually, you didn't need to come. In about half an hour, today's work will be over."
Renji thought for a moment. "After work, do you want to go outside with me to take a look?"
"Go outside and take a look?" Her tone shifted to puzzled. "Is it a requirement from above to work overtime today, or is it your personal wish?"
Renji was a bit confused. "Is there a difference?"
Angel Devil nodded and explained, "Of course there's a difference. If it's an order from above to work overtime, then no matter how unwilling I am, I can only obey. But if it's just you who wants to go, then I can refuse you. Because if I get involved with you, there will definitely be big trouble. That's bad for both of us."
Renji's face suddenly fell, as if covered by frost. He looked mournful, all the sorrow of the world gathering on his features. His voice trembled, carrying endless desolation.
"Sigh... what's the point of living in this world?" He shook his head. "Let me tell you a story. Back then, I had a kind heart and tried my best to save a devil who was on the verge of death. For this, I didn't hesitate to pay the precious price of two months of my lifespan."
"Even so, I never regretted it for a moment. Because in my heart, saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda. But who would have thought that after everything settled down, the devil I risked my life to save not only showed no gratitude towards me but deliberately kept her distance? This coldness and heartlessness truly pierced my heart. It makes me wish I were dead." He sighed again, heavily. "Sigh, I don't want to live anymore."
Renji looked at Angel Devil, and his expression suddenly changed dramatically.
"Hmm? By the way, miss, why do you look so familiar? Why do you seem to be the devil I risked my life to save? Oh, right, do you know that devil? Her name is Angel Devil."
Upon hearing this, Angel Devil slowly turned her head. She first reached out and touched her own head, messing up her hair. She looked utterly unwilling. Finally, she let out a helpless sigh.
"Alright," she conceded. "But I need to see what it's about. If you're planning to drag me out to fight someone, I will absolutely refuse you. Even if you force me to go, I'll go complain to Makima about you afterwards."
Renji patted her reassuringly. "Don't worry. It's nothing big. I just want to take you outside Tokyo—outside the city—to have a look. I have some ideas that I need your confirmation on."
Angel Devil was startled. "Huh? Outside? Are you... are you serious? How do we go?"
"Just go normally," Renji said simply. "I've been there before. You can just walk out."
Angel Devil's pretty face suddenly trembled slightly. Her eyelids fluttered, her expression a mix of surprise and resignation.
Half an hour later, in the empty and desolate uninhabited zone, in the middle of the street.
Angel Devil stood at the edge, extending her hand. Her fingertips touched the void. Where she touched, strange ripples appeared, circle after circle, and the barrier became visible.
"And then?" she asked. "What do we do next?"
Renji gazed at the scene outside the barrier. The street inside the barrier was just an ordinary abandoned uninhabited area, but the street outside the screen was slightly different.
The degree of dilapidation was noticeably more severe, as if time had stood still there for hundreds of years. Some houses were almost buried in the dust of ages. Perhaps it was because this place was once a town, unlike the countryside which looked like a primeval forest at first glance. But the sense of detachment was still very strong.
"Hmm? Oh."
Renji took a few steps forward, easily passing through the barrier and standing steadily on the other side. He turned around, his gaze calmly fixed on Angel Devil.
"Just like this."
A notification sounded in his mind, but he ignored it.
Angel Devil's pretty face instantly turned incredulous. Her beautiful eyes went wide. She stood frozen for a while before recovering, and asked tremblingly, "How... how did you do that?"
Renji shook his head. "I don't know either."
"Then... then have you thought of a way to bring me out of the barrier too?"
"Yes," he replied simply. "By grabbing your sleeve and trying to pull you out."
Renji reached out and grabbed Angel Devil's sleeve, starting to pull hard towards the outside of the barrier. But the barrier seemed to have its own discerning ability. It perfectly distinguished between Renji and Angel Devil, and simply wouldn't let her through.
Renji pulled for a while, until Angel Devil cried out in pain. Then he stopped.
"So painful..." she whined, rubbing her wrist.
"Just pulling the sleeve really doesn't work, huh," Renji mused.
Angel Devil rubbed her wrist, her face puzzled.
"Then I can only do as Power told me," Renji said. "I need to hold your hand, Angel Devil. Try physical contact and see if I can pull you out."
Angel Devil took a step back. "That's absolutely not allowed. Do you want me to drain your lifespan again?"
"It's just pulling you out. It won't take long, not even three seconds. If lifespan is drained, then so be it. I don't care about that."
Upon careful thought, Renji truly didn't care about this. He had his ways.
Angel Devil shook her head firmly. "But I care about that. It makes me feel guilty. Even if it's less than three seconds, you'll lose two months of lifespan each time I— Wait...! Ugh... Ughhh! Stop! Stop it! Renji, stop it now!!!"
Renji found Angel Devil too slow and simply grabbed her small hand, pulling her outwards.
With that pull, it actually succeeded.
In an instant, Angel Devil's entire arm was pulled through!
"It worked!" Renji exclaimed.
"Stop it, Renji! Stop! It's already been two weeks!!!"
Renji didn't stop. Instead, he continued to pull outwards. He pulled out another part of Angel Devil, but it was getting difficult now, as if there was a force inside the barrier preventing him.
Angel Devil also noticed at this point that it had really worked. Fearing she might disturb Renji, she stopped speaking. However, the strange sensation of physical contact with him made her start gasping for air.
Renji exerted more effort and pulled out another part of Angel Devil. Half of her body was practically outside.
Angel Devil's small face also began to flush with an unnatural red.
"Ren... Renji..." she panted, her voice soft and weak. "It's almost... almost three... three seconds..."
Renji, who was in the thick of it, didn't hear her at all and was still desperately pulling outwards.
"Ren... Ren... Renji... Ugh..."
After a period of stalemate, Renji finally pulled Angel Devil completely through. But due to pulling too hard, both of them instantly lost their balance when she came out.
Renji fell backward onto the ground, and Angel Devil immediately tumbled onto his chest.
Neither could move for a moment.
Immediately after, a strange sound came from Angel Devil's mouth. It was like a painful whimper, yet also carrying a hint of indescribable, sticky gasping.
Wait.
Renji felt something was off.
"Sticky gasping?"
Angel Devil's body suddenly trembled, undulating, and began to have violent spasmodic reactions.
Her face was indescribable. She gasped for air while a certain part of her body reached a critical point...
—Squelch!—
This sound seemed like a signal, triggering a chain reaction.
The next second...
—Squelch!—
—Squelch!—
—Squelch!—
....
Notifications chimed in Renji's mind, one after another, but he was too preoccupied to pay them any attention.
