A.D. and the boss, James, embarked on their perilous journey in a rugged vehicle, leaving the newly secured base behind. The ride was silent, broken only by the rumble of the engine and the occasional distant roar of a zombie. A.D. remained deep in thought, his gaze fixed on the desolate landscape, a quiet intensity radiating from him.
James, uncomfortable with the silence, attempted to break the ice. He talked, rambling about the dangers of the outside, the hardships of their previous life, anything to fill the void. A.D. listened, his eyes unblinking, but offered no reply.
After a few hours, A.D. finally broke his silence. "How much of the journey is left?" he asked, his voice low and steady.
"Oh, no, you're talking!" James exclaimed, clearly surprised by A.D.'s voice. "I'll tell you, but first, I have a question. Why are you taking this risk?"
"Because it's a chance to end this game," A.D. replied, the words holding a double meaning. He thought to himself that the people of this world didn't even realize they were trapped in a game. Then, he rephrased for James, "To end this virus."
"Hum!" James grunted, a skeptical look on his face. "Okay, but how do you do it?"
"It would be done," A.D. stated, his voice final, offering no further explanation.
