"Tsk tsk tsk, how lively this all is!"
During the fierce battles raging across the planet, a dark figure skulked between major buildings. Suppressing his ki signature, he moved cautiously, observing the combat situations while remaining completely hidden. His concealment was so masterful that no one had detected his presence thus far.
Turles was exactly that kind of wretched character.
While the world turned upside down around him and even mighty warriors fell in battle, he remained perfectly safe. Frieza, whom he'd rescued, had vanished alone after emerging from the underworld—destination unknown. Turles really wished he could have shown the emperor how Cooler and King Cold had died in such terror.
Unfortunately, no such opportunity existed.
"It seems Kakarot and the others are stronger than the underworld's monsters. Defeating these bastards won't be easy," Turles accurately assessed both sides' strength, reaching a sobering conclusion.
Though they hadn't achieved nothing—at least they'd thrown Earth into chaos—the losses were far too great.
Turles had miscalculated the situation beforehand. There were simply too many powerful beings on Earth, some so strong they genuinely frightened him.
He found himself in West City, where elevated tunnels connected the entire bustling metropolis. Flying cars shuttled through the network while gorgeous screens displayed martial arts battles in progress.
Yamcha, Krillin, and others served as the main subjects. Goku and Vegeta occasionally appeared in shots as well, though their incredible speed usually captured only half a face or a retreating figure before they vanished again. These heroes' battles greatly inspired Earth's people—and suddenly gave Turles a new focus.
"Those guys... I recognize them," Turles smiled maliciously, recalling the Earth invasion years ago as resentment rose within him.
At that moment, a booming voice stopped him from behind—thick and resonant like a tolling bell.
"Hey! You in the battle armor—who are you?"
"Hmph, you don't need to know!" Turles snapped coldly, spinning around to blast a ki wave!
He didn't use much energy, afraid of drawing attention, but the moment he fired, Turles was stunned with regret. He'd clearly seen who had stopped him—Nappa!
During the Namek conflict, Nappa had teamed up with that other bald warrior to fight him. Turles had a vivid memory of the encounter.
That ki wave was far too weak—it struck Nappa like a gentle tickle, causing no effect whatsoever.
"It's you! Turles! You've actually been resurrected!" Nappa was equally astonished, showing surprised and excited expressions even while under bombardment.
Vegeta had stationed Nappa in West City to protect Trunks and Bulma, so he'd already been excited watching the fierce battles outside. Unexpectedly, Turles had appeared to perfectly meet his needs as a potential opponent.
Nappa grinned—a truly excited smile.
"Turles, you're unlucky to run into me!"
Turles scowled viciously. "Really? I was wondering why I'd bump into you again myself. You got lucky last time on Namek. This time, you're dead!"
"Let me warn you in advance—I'm not the same as before." Nappa had lost to Turles previously, but with his current strength, he had both the courage and capital to make such a statement.
He was a Super Saiyan.
Poor Turles still had no idea what a Super Saiyan was, assuming Goku's transformation used the same method as consuming spirit tree fruit. He felt that having consumed so many fruits, enabling him to fight Frieza, why should he fear Nappa?
Since he apparently couldn't leave without defeating the big Saiyan, he'd have to make this quick.
Both warriors shouted simultaneously and rushed toward each other. Nappa's arms blazed with brilliant flames, his fists burning with radiant light as energy exploded around them. Turles roared fiercely, clenching his five fingers into a fist and thrusting out a lightning-fast punch!
Suddenly, Nappa's form changed as golden brilliance erupted around his aura. His eyebrows and mustache turned golden! In an instant, his strength increased explosively! For a moment, Turles felt his eyes were playing tricks on him.
BOOM!
Turles was sent flying backward, smashing through a wall and carving scorched black marks across the ground. The air exploded like thunder.
The terrifying shockwave immediately began destroying West City.
Taking Bulma and baby Trunks into consideration, Nappa chose to drag the battlefield away from the populated area. He followed closely and delivered a devastating kick to the stunned Turles.
After receiving two heavy blows in succession, Turles was completely bewildered. He was supposedly strong enough to fight Frieza—why couldn't he match Nappa? That punch had nearly broken his arm, and the kick left his chest caved in as he coughed up blood.
Turles's expression turned ugly as his body flew backward. He gritted his teeth and stabilized himself in mid-air, his battle suit already stained crimson with blood. As Nappa rushed toward him again, Turles had no choice but to fight back. "So what if you have golden light?!"
He cursed bitterly, firing a ki wave that struck Nappa head-on.
Smoke billowed through the air as the explosion's aftermath spread, severing tall buildings. Suddenly, numerous structures throughout West City collapsed into ruins. Turles smiled, rolling his tongue to wipe blood from the corner of his mouth.
But his smile quickly froze as he saw Nappa gradually emerging from behind the smoke screen—he'd only coughed a few times and remained completely unharmed.
"Is that all your strength amounts to? It seems I overestimated you. I thought we might have a decent fight."
"What are you saying?! Don't look down on me! I've consumed countless spirit tree fruits in the underworld—even Frieza couldn't defeat me!" Turles screamed wildly.
Nappa sneered. "Frieza isn't that strong an opponent anymore. Maybe you don't realize it yet, but my transformation is called Super Saiyan. I put tremendous effort into achieving it. Compared to the strength you can gain from spirit tree fruit, there's a massive difference!"
Super Saiyan? Could it be that Goku and the others who'd defeated Cooler and King Cold were also Super Saiyans? Turles panicked, but couldn't believe someone of Nappa's level could become so powerful. He'd been inferior before!
"What 'Super Saiyan'—let me show you the true power of a Saiyan!" Turles's eyes blazed with flames as his aura flickered and his battle power soared.
This was his absolute limit. Using the power gained from underworld spirit tree fruit, he exploded to a level where he could fight ordinary Super Saiyans! But compared to a full-power Super Saiyan, the strength gap remained more than one entire grade.
"You dare call yourself a Saiyan?!" Nappa, as a traditional Saiyan warrior, possessed tremendous pride and looked down on Turles completely.
The battle on Namek could even be considered a personal shame in Nappa's mind. Now that an opportunity for a revenge match stood before him, his eyes burned with fighting spirit as he prepared to eliminate Turles.
At that same moment, Tien sensed Nappa's energy signature and hurried over, arriving just in time to encounter Turles.
When these three old acquaintances met, Turles actually showed a cold smile. "Perfect timing, you two."
