How they were going to enact Anderson's plan was still to be told as Anderson was still thinking upon their future actions.
However, this only took a few seconds with his aspect, "As I said for the first step I will climb to the top of the tree and try to see the mountain, and with how much we could see at the start it should be fairly simple. Will I do this you will need to find a path to the ground as we need to get to the serpents corps. Once your down try to find any meat left on the bones and try to see if any bones can be used as spears. Also see if any of those remaining scales can be used as armor as the rags we have now suck for defense. As for the storm, if I don't see any clouds then we might have a week or so as normally these trails are supposed to be sort. However, ours is unique already, so it might also be abnormally long."
With the plan laid out, it was now time to enact it. Soon after a few minutes of Anderson and Zena explaining their abilities they started moving into action.
Anderson looked up and saw a hundreds of branches above him and sighed as this was going to take a while. Meanwhile, Zena was thinking the same thing, but instead of looking up she was looking at the way down.
After about 30 minutes of climbing Anderson reached the top of the giant tree. Peaking his head above the leaves to look around. Looking around the seemingly endless forest Anderson was concerned that they were nowhere near the mountain.
However, when he looked fully around the area he saw it. It seemed even larger now that he was father away from it. It seemed to be made fully out of a dark grey stone like material.
With the mountain now in sight he looked down to see which direction the mountain was from the branch they started on.
Now that he had completed the first step in their plan he looked hard for any type of cloud, but there were non. Not a single cloud could be seen as the sky was a perfect blue with no imperfections. With that he sighed as they had time to make their way to the mountain. Now he just had to get down before the sun fully set as the light was already dimming. With that he started is climb down.
Meanwhile, Zena had reached the ground. When got off the tree she immediately thought about her attribute, however nothing happened. Since nothing happened she made her way to what was left of the serpent's corps.
When she got there she looked for any meat left on the serpent. Luckily for them their were chunks of meat on the end of most of the bones.
After a hour of collecting the meat and any loose bones Anderson arrived at the bottom of the tree.
Zena quickly asked, "Did you find which direction the mountain is in? Also, are there any signs of the story?"
Anderson responded simply, "Yes it should be North, if the sun is moving normally. And there are no signs of the storm. There is not even a single cloud in the sky. Like I said we should have about a week or so until the storm arrives."
After a brief moment of silence Anderson looked at the meat and bones on the ground before continuing, "Lets try to cook some of the remaining meat before night falls."
Soon there was a fire blazing, using the bark from the trees around. Some of the meat were stuck onto a few of the bones that were broken off of the serpents skeleton.
Later, Anderson and Zena were seated around the fire each of them with a bone meat in their hands. The cooked meat smelled like perfection in front of them. And to them who had rarely eaten the synthpaste like meat in the outskirts, this was a meal fit for kings.
Unfortunately, for them only after a few bits of the meat the ground below them started to shake before the ground parted in front of them.
From the ground a giant worm emerged. Its skin was grey and stretched. Its mouth was wide revealing hundred of rows of teeth.
The worm initially went to the corps of the serpent, however upon seeing Anderson and Zena something deep within the soul of the worm urged it to kill the uncorrupted beings.
Anderson managed to stay calm do to his attribute before quickly reacting and grabbing one of the bones above the fire. Now that he was armed with a makeshift weapon he jumped back and away from the worm.
Zena however was staring directly at the worm. Something in her eyes changed. A glint of bloodlust appeared in them. However, she was quickly snapped out of this state from the fear she felt.
In a panic she activated her attribute [Bond of Delusion]. She saw many things the worm could do. The final image she saw was the worm jumping at her.
Unfortunately that was the outcome that would come true. In a panic she stepped back only to trip over one of the many serpent bones around.
Just before the worm attacked Anderson jumped in the way and stuck the heated bone deep into the mouth of the worm.
Unfortunately, Anderson was not able to stop the worm from ramming into him.
When the worm crashed into Anderson, he was sent rolling into one of the nearby trees and knocking him unconscious leaving Zena as the only one remaining against the injured worm.
Seeing her brother get sent flying snapped her out of her state of fear. However, when she looked at the worm again it was bleeding profusely from its mouth. Upon seeing the blood falling from the worm's mouth something within her changed. A sense of joy spread throughout her body. Slowly a small amount of bloodlust seemed to form around her. The fear she had felt only moments ago was now gone. Swallowed by something new to her. An instinct, a murderous instinct. This was an instinct to hunt and butcher the creature in front of her.
In the state she was in she did not think, but acted purely on instinct. Just as the worm charged at her she jumped to the side. She quickly grabbed one of the bones on the ground before looking back at the worm. There was much more blood than before. It seemed to be losing to much blood and could die at anytime. However, Zena would not let it die so easily.
In a final act to kill the humans the worm lunged at her with its remaining strength. Unfortunately, Zena instinctively slide under the worm an stabbed deep in the underside of the worm.
With the new wound the worm started to squirm around. Now that the worm was unable to do anything Zena picked up another bone before stabbing the worm in what could be considered its head. She shoved the bone in until the bone could not be seen.
Then she heard the spell:
[You have slain a dormant beast, Juvenile Corpse Eater]
[You have gained a memory Shredding Maw]
Although she heard the spell it didn't seem to resister in her mind as she grabbed another bone and raised it above her head. As the stabbed down two arms grabbed rapped around her from behind.
"It is ok now, the creature is dead" was whispered from behind from the now conscious Anderson.
